Guess he won't be finishing that 150 year sentence that he got hit with.
Seems like the whole family was cursed.

A judge issued a forfeiture order stripping Madoff of all his personal property, including real estate, investments, and $80 million in assets his wife, Ruth, had claimed were hers.
The scandal also exacted a personal toll on the family: One of his sons, Mark, killed himself on the second anniversary of his father’s arrest in 2010. Madoff’s brother, Peter, who helped run the business, was sentenced to 10 years in prison in 2012, despite claims he was in the dark about his brother’s misdeeds.
Madoff's other son, Andrew, died from cancer at age 48.

Fuck that piece of shit. Rot in hell for the many lives he hurt.
-
Madoff lived in up in prison. Got special privileges in prison for doing taxes and investment advice for prison guards and warden. Real life Shawshank Redemption.
-
Imagine if this guy focused on the supplement industry instead of illegal Ponzi schemes. He would have been worth more than $80 million and would not have gone to prison.

It's funny how the whole ball team was having their taxes done by Andy Dufresne before the game, given that it would take at least one hour to file for each guard:

Don’t project your limitations on Andy Dufresne Matt.

LOL! Doing the entire ball team's taxes before the game? Seems a bit much. ;D
Makes me wonder how much of movies made us feel inferior or otherwise limited without even knowing it.
Regarding Madoff [pronounced "Made Off", like the investor money he made off with], it's really amazing how intelligent some white collar criminals are. Didn't he run his Ponzi Scheme up to $65 billion? Or $50 billion. Something like that.

Nowhere near as much as the guy who created Bitcoin has made.

I believe he would have reformed after the first 90 years or so.

Made an example of for being the best of the worst.
People of this type are everywhere in financials. .. for example, Jon Corzine did no time for the lives he destroyed at MF Global.

Rent/Stream “Blue Jasmine” (2013). It’s the Madoff story from the wife’s point of view. Alec Baldwin plays the Madoff character. He loses his fortune and commits suicide... with all the money gone, his wife has to move in with her half sister and living a life of poverty literally drives her insane. Kate Blanchett won an Oscar for the role. Great movie.

Madoff gets all the attention as many people forget about our very own home grown swindler here in Ft Lauderdale Scott Rothstein.
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Scott_W._Rothstein
I know his main buddy George involved and have been to his house many times for parties. He hired my friend to captain his yacht for many years. He would allow Jeremy to take the boat out anytime he wanted. We would pack it down every year and go watch the Air and Sea show. The Intracoastal would be be full of these 18-30 ft boats watching it and here we came in this $2M monster. A few days before they came and started seizing items from George's house he put a call out to a few people he liked to come and get anything they may like. Without admitting to anything, let's just say it was a great haul!

Everyone who has "made money" by transferring fiat into BTC has "made money" legitimately. Entire Bitcoin ledger is public, decentralized and verifiable, (which is entirely the opposite with a Ponzi scheme). Please learn your concepts and cease creating false narratives.

Gib do you think the inventor of Bitcoin is worth more or less than Bernie Madoff (at his peak of net worth)?

No offense to Matt but this is a pretty decent post for a meth addicted tub of lard.

Bobby Bonilla Day for the New York Mets in 2000. As he was nearing the tail end of his career, he convinced the Met's owner to pay nothing to Bonilla upfront for 11 years. Then starting in 2011, defer a yearly salary of $1.2 million until the year 2035. The owner of the Mets was invested with Bernie Madoff at the time. The strategy for the owner was to make more money in return with the yearly deferred payments. But then in 2008 the bottom fell out for Madoff, the owner of Mets was stuck with the contract. He loses $1.2 million annually to Bonilla for 24 years.

The irony about the Madoff story is that all of the victims of his scheme were just as greedy as he was.

True. But they weren't doing anything illegal to take people's money.

Thanks for the recommendation. I watched it last night on Prime Video. Great acting all around. Excellent film. IMO, Cate Blanchette is a really beautiful woman.
