You look at Seattle's LBs and secondary and you know what you dont see ?

White people.

None of this "good football instincts" crap...they are all fast and athletic. Peyton starts floating touch passes around these dudes...he's in for a long night.

I live in Mass, and they're scared shitless for Manning to win #2,  since it hurts their Brady vs Manning argument.  I actually heard two hosts on 98.5 worried that if the weather is bad and Manning loses the media will give him a pass.  Who the fuck thinks this way outside of this state
?  Nobody.

It never worked... except when the hawks obliterated everyone in 05.  That super bowl was complete horseshit; you could visibly see the momentum shift as TD after TD was called back.

The 05 team was better than this year's team, imo... the hawks offense has been extremely shaky all year.  05 steam rolled people.

Now the late season '12 hawks... were out for blood ;D

Dont agree.. I think Seattlites look at the 05 team with rose colored glasses.... They weren't all that great. the 05 team had to play perfect all game to win... this team can fuck up, and still come back second half and roll over extremely talented teams.

Hasselbeck was a mediocre QB at best, and if his mind was even just a little off, he sucked ass. Wilson has much better composure and potential IMHO. And the D is no where close IMHO... corners on this team are on a whole nother level..., neither is the running game... Shaun A saw a player about to hit him, instant dive and submarine. Lynch puts his head down and runs over the opponent.

Don't you remember how often our D back then would go into prevent and we'd watch the opponent overcome a 20+ point deficit in the 4th quarter and win? So frustrating.

But yeah... the SB was BS... you know it's BS when the NFL publically apologizes for the officiating. Lol.

Just don't tell Earl that, he'll start melting down all over the place that his precious Stealers may have been handed a gift.

Oh well, such is life.

For the record....the NFL has an element of "fix" to their championship, so don't be surprised when the refs steer the game toward a Peyton Manning heroic comeback from career threatening injury win.

The 05 superbowl was the worst officiated game ever. You play the officials and the other team. Fetushead needs to loose today so go Hawks. I have to agree with how massholes think based on Grapes' comments. Manning and Brady is what everybody cares about in NE..unless your on the other side of the Pats/Giants line that runs through central Conn.

There won't be a flag until its clear Denver's in serious trouble and the its on. KInda like the 01 superbowl Pats/Rams. NE was kicking the dogshit out of their receivers all game and then the fumble in the late 3rd early 4th that would have sealed it with another TD...then they call a PI. Gotta protect Vegas in this one.

I'm worried that the NFL wants to protect Manning and his "comeback" story as well. If he really starts getting hammered, I expect flags to fly.

Kind of like the Saints after Katrina?
Same idea, yeah. The NFL and the Media have created this great hype comeback good vs evil story, the heroic Peyton Manning, coming back against all odds after a broken neck, against the evil Seahawks and their horrible, evil mouthpiece in Richard Sherman, who everyone loves to hate because he verbally attacks people for no reason, like the saintly Skip Bayless, or the Angelic Crabtree, neither of which ever said anything bad about Sherman before Sherman just decided to go off and destroy their self esteem for no reason....

They say that defense wins championships, but this isn't an exceptionless law of nature. I think that this Manning (not the one of previous playoff appearances) can make this year an exception to the rule.

In the context in which the above statement was made, the indexical expression 'this Manning' refers to the Manning that played against New England, not the one who is currently playing (apparently). Thus, it isn't clear that what I said is false.

Thank you

i'm still very confident on a big Denver win.  SEA is winning on emotion right now.  ONE mistake and they all lose it.

Russell sucks... I believe he's playing injured and not saying anything.  He'll blow it.  Manning is going to kick in, at any moment.

Wow Denver is amazing. I am in awe. 240 you are never wrong bro  ;D ;D ;D

This reminds me of a lot of the Super Bowls from my younger days...

Most of them were over (in the competitive sense) by halftime.

Just waiting for articles online tomorrow by "sensitive" reporters who admonish that a lot of money was somehow "lost" by the Hawks' domination.
Title: Re: NFL Superbowl - So who will win?
Post by: Andy Griffin on February 02, 2014, 06:39:49 PM
I'm hoping that the Hawks don't score again and that Denver manages another TD...

Our management team at work sponsored a prediction contest (not a "bet" since none of us had to buy into the contest)...winner gets like $50 ...  closest score wins

I had predicted SEA 42 DEN 17 ...  so even though I won't be dead on the money, I can be very close.

Wouldn't that make Tony Dungy the greatest coach ever to actually win a SB with him as QB?  NFL would have given him the game if he could have kept it within a TD.  Manny equals the son of Dan Marino and Jennifer Kelly.

IF Sherman is injured, and he realizes he will be average in the future...

It might not be a bad time to just retire based upon injury and become a sportscaster.   I mean, he's going out on TOP, he is a known name, he has a communications degree, and he's well-spoken most of the time.

I could see him replacing the balding, aging host they have on "First Take".  Imagine he and Skip Bayliss debating every morning.  He could milk that career for another decade.  Or three.

Or, he could come back and be average.  And even under the extension of the 555,000 he got this year... in another 2 years, he's a footnote (kinda the way Tebow did).

At the time Tebow finished his amazing run, beating the Steelers, I posted on getbig that he should FAKE an injury, retire with this amazing "What if?" mystique, and become a talking head on ESPN, college gameday, etc....  INSTEAD, he came back to be entirely average, and cut, and now he's doing commercials about how he can't get a contract and being used for footnotes by ESPN from time to time.

If it's just a sprain and he's fine, then he should come back and play another 10 years.  Get that big contract.  Revis got a $million a game to be entirely average last year.   He makes as much in one game as Sherman makes in TWO YEARS.

BUT if Sherman is injured and realizes his explosiveness might be gone... the time is right to strike gold with broadcasting.

He's super bowl champ.  He might be injured and he doesn't have a guaranteed contract.

IF he is injured, and IF he realizes he will only be average, he can retire at the TOP of his game, with a super bowl WIN, and he a total WINNER.   Or, in two years, we can see him in a super bowl commercial, having washed out of the league, mocking his own inability to get a tryout at camp... all while Crabtree is catching the game-winner in the Super Bowl.

At the very least, would you agree, IF he is injured, and IF he will only be average... it would be a smart move?   I still believe IF tebow had done this - retired on top - he would be a much bigger media star today.

No, I'd look stupid if I said I was sure he was going to be average.  I said I'm sure he's fine, and this is only IF he is injured and HE believes he will be an average player.

I admitted he's a smart dude, a master of his position and might play ten years.  But IF he's injured, I'd hate to see him take the tebow route, when he could go out on top.  Dude won the Super Bowl.  He's the best at what he does.

99.9% of the NFL players don't have the look, IQ & charisma to become 20-year sportscasters.  Sherman does.

Title: Re: NFL Superbowl - So who will win?

Tebow caught a nice little sweet spot.

momentum was on his side, emotions were high, he was the story of the season.  He got hella lucky on some games, he caught defenses off guard with his style.  He was fresh and excited and nobody knew how to handle him.

Now?   Today, defenses know to cover their man, force him to run right, where he throws against his body (slowly) and is hella inaccurate.  A couple more hits and he'll slow down. His confidence starts sliding and he'll go 3-13.

He had a cool run.  As someone mentioned, faking an injury and starting a career as a spokesman, endorses, or politics would be the way to go.  He plays out 2 more years, and it'll be a year of decline in Denver followed by being cut and fighting with Pryor for 2nd on the Raiders depth chart.

better to realize the weakness, smile at the position he's in, and scoot into the next step in life.  use his huge recognition for causes way beyond football.  He'll be set for life on $ with a year of that - someone would give him $5 mil to speak for a year, and then he can dedicate his life to something he's good at, really making a difference.

I wrote this TWO years ago.   I said Tebow should retire on top - and not spend 2 years sucking, getting cut, and begging the Raiders for a backup slot.

And I'm writing it for Sherman today.  IF he rest, heals, and is 100%, then yes, come back and have a HOF career.
BUT if he's 90% at best when he returns - He should surprise everyone and retire. He CAN BE one of the best sports media people, and he can do it for 30 more years.  However, if injured, he cannot be the best at his position, and in 2 years, will be just another flash in pan average player.  If he's not 100%, I think he'd be smart to realize he'll never be hotter in the NFL (top of game + SB win + defeated manning + went out as the "bad guy" who actually won).... and to jump to media and just start kicking ass there.

bacon ranch goes well with the popcorn shrimp.

I stopped watch 12 seconds into the second half, and recorded the rest, which later on watched faster. Even the commercials were boring, and the good ones, will watch later on on Youtube.

Oh well, such is life.

yeah "such is life" having excuses when you lose and not being a man and admitting you lost to somebody superior

did the refs cause your kicker to miss two field goals?
did the refs cause your tight end to drop 4 passes that hit him on the numbers?
did the refs cause holmgren to mismanage the clock?
did the refs cause your defense to give up the longest touchdown run in super bowl history by willie parker?
did the refs cause your defense to fall for a gimmick play by antwann randle el?

even after your team wins the super bowl you clowns are still talking about the beat down you got 8 friggin years ago, steelers will own your minds for life

how about the fact that the same steelers team got back to two more super bowls and won one and almost won the other while the seahawks team from 05 faded into obscurity?  no they couldn't possbly have been the better team ::)

the refs got tons of death threats from your fans so yeah it's probably normal to have regrets, the nfl admitted to making mistakes in the nfc title game against the 49ers yet you have nothing to say about that

congrats on the win, 1 - 1 in the super bowl

good luck getting back after wilson, sherman, thomas and a bunch of other guys get their big contracts along with not having top early draft picks

that's the NFL rule man....the guy is only in his second year...you don't wanna throw a $13 million/year on a rookie that hasn't prove himself yet....typical NFL rookie quarterbacks need 2 years to develop themselves, well, there are exceptions, but rookies get the minimum wage...I'm sure if Wilson keeps improving, after next year, seahawks will throw some Big Greens at him for sure......Big Ben was in his sophmore season when he won his first superbowl too

in other words you have no response to the facts i just pointed out

seahawks were actually penalized more yesterday than they were in 05, you didn't notice because you were actually playing an inferior team

i also think the 05 seahawks team had a better offense than this years team, hasselbeck was a pro bowl quarterback, shaun alexander was the mfl mvp running for about 1900 yards, the o line was much stronger too with walter jones and a couple other pro bowlers

this years defense was better
