Someone commented that Biden's health moves in only one direction.  I observed an older relative's cognitive abilities deteriorate drastically in 2-3 months.  This is a repulsive, disgusting, and reprehensible public display of elder abuse.

Don't you mean while the video is broadcast live, and the debates are actually happening? Otherwise, manipulating them after the broadcast is a given... crowd or no crowd. And, when this happens, they will be manipulated differently by each side so as to influence their chosen audience.

This is ridiculous. The Biden team put forth all these ridiculous demands to try to save the senile codger.

An empty TV studio could, Biden aides feel, deprive their GOP rival of a major advantage when they face off.

Of course they want no crowds. Have you seen how many people show up in Biden's rallies? He would struggle to fill the studio. Plus, even if he found some Democrats they might have interrupted with pro-Palestine chants so it wouldn't be to his advantage.

There were several conditions that the Biden team felt were necessary in order to agree to a debate with the former president, among them that the hosts weren’t from outlets with an ideological bent toward Trump

How many major outlets have an ideological bent toward Trump and how many toward Biden?

And why did Biden's handlers insist on no third party candidates? Are they afraid to let the people decide?

Cutting off the microphones is a good move as long as it is applied to everyone and not just Trump.
