I never used AAS and I have that....squatting, GM's and now the Yoke Walk sit right on it. I thought I read somewhere it was some kind of scar tissue build up over the bone. Could be wrong.........

Like Chaos, I've never used AAS and I have the bump as well. It's from squatting, in my case. I read a similar article (if not the same) as another poster in this thread about Johnnie Jackson and JJ's friend was a doctor that said (iirc) it was some sort of calcium build up. JJ said "I never worried about it, until someone in the gym asked about it. I figured if it didn't hurt I didn't need to worry about it."

Yeah, the bump is from bar position on heavy lifts. Some of the old, old called it a "squatters callus".

Women use pads. Besides when you have several hundred pound on your back with a pad in between, the pad tends to let the bar roll and not sink into your traps.

I always heard it was from squatting as well.  You see who squats a lot when they do shows....the pro tan just sucks right into the skin in that area...plus the skin has a different feel from where the bar was placed directly on the spine.
