That sucks, but I'm sure panick/selfishness had something to do with the death count. Everybody screaming and pushing running for the door, if they would've been single file, I wonder how many could have been saved. I wonder why people still do stuff like this after the Great White club debacle. Sad.

That's all? 245? Must not have been a popular night club. Because those damn Brazilians tend to pack a club so deep you literally have a second wave riding on shoulders in there.

Costa Rica is a strong runner up. Years ago the first time I ever went to San Jose I went to this club there. Now keep in mind that most clubs don't even open their doors until midnight. I went there at like 4am. It was a small warehouse building built onto the side of the mountain. They had built a wooden open deck out back. You walked to the end of the deck and looked down and it was like a 200 ft drop. Imagine a soup can on wooden (yeah.... as in lumber) stilts built into the mountain slope.
About an hour later they started playing Jump by the Pointer Sisters and every one in there was jumping up and down in time to the vocal chorus. You could literally feel the building swaying back and forth under all that weight and impact. I tried to get the hell out of there. As small as that club was it still took me over 45 mins to push my way to the door and outside. It's a wonder that building didn't break off and go down that mountain slope like Charlie Browns sled.

Damn, especially with foreigners in the middle of nowhere there is no law. I think you got lucky there that nothing happened God forbid.

really, it's not that bad. the b e a n e r s' country is living hell.

I was in Brazil over the holidays and mostly spent my time at bars but did go to a club or two and yea they pack those mother fuckers in I mean its much more than shoulder to shoulder, you can barely fucking move in there.
And yea they give you a card like a hotel card/credit card that you use to get drinks on and it keeps your tab. Then when you go to leave you have to go through a process of going to the cashier, giving them your card and paying your tab.

The US usually has a big one every ten years or so. Most in old structures that haven't been brought up to code, also depending on the area, you use to see a lot of illegally locked exits, but they've really cracked down on that in the last couple of decades.
