Newsom’s children are all under 12 and thus not eligible to receive a COVID-19 vaccine under Centers for Disease Control and Prevention guidelines. Both Newsom and his wife are vaccinated.

@twain307  You’re incorrect. Newsom made it mandatory for all kids 5 and up to get the vaccine to go to public schools. His kids, being the rich snob he is, go to private school. Vaccine mandates will certainly help the state keep numbers relatively lower than most.

 If anything we need more vaccine mandates which I know many won’t like but it’s necessary.

Now I know this statement about mandates  will be contested so here are some facts to beat you to the punch.  Vaccine mandates have been long upheld in the courts, we have mandates for other vaccines like measles, chicken pox, polio, and other deadly diseases so this would be no different, no it’s not socialism or communism for vaccine mandates to be enacted because again we have been living with vaccine mandates for decades. Mandates work as well, they have worked here in California, New York,  and other states that have implemented them and businesses.

Now can you get COVID if you are vaccinated? , definitely it’s possible , is it likely? Not very likely though. Now omicron is here and we keep hearing stories about break through cases in the vaccinated , that can be explained by the lack of vaccination in other parts of the world. Give a virus enough time, it can and will mutate to slowly but sure I luv u knock efficacy of the vaccine down allowing people vaccinated for earlier strains to have a greater chance of catching a new strain. Also many have been fully vaccinated months ago meaning that vaccine efficacy is probably starting to waver for many since vaccines protect you for certain amounts of time before you need a booster just like your tetanus shots and flu shots.

So great news for California, keep it up Newsom. This will help everyone.

Thank goodness it's just a cold for almost everyone.

I have a logical question which will undoubtably launch a firestorm of criticism. If Omicron isn't deadly so (logically) you see no need to be vaccinated against it even though it is thought to be highly contagious. As can be expected, you contract it...feel a little crappy and decide to go to the hospital. Should an ER refuse to admit you because it's not going to kill you and you chose to take the risk by not taking the few precautions you could have? No vaccination, no admittance. Seems like that should clear up any problem with overcrowding the ERs and overburdening hospital staff. Seems logical to me.

Do you feel this way about every disease?

If someone gets AIDS they can be refused treatment because of the individuals risky behavior? Or skin cancer when it was proven the individual was a sunbather who went without sunscreen, zero treatment for the disease.

Can we also eliminate welfare if people don’t submit to drugs tests or don’t work?

In the states driving while impaired is a crime, everyone knows driving while drunk is illegal, it’s probably one of the most shameful acts a person can commit. Medical professionals will not deny these criminals medical care ( calling them criminals is probably unfair because an individual is innocent until proven guilty). Actually, we medical professionals believe that the most shameful act a patient can commit is refusing to get vaccinated against COVID.
