Most I've ever done was 11 and that was at a bodyweight of 245. Nothing impressive I know - I tend to prefer the incline.

i was extremely impressed at that....never seen any one bench more than 315 before. and the most reps i had ever seen done with 315 before that was 5.

I can always do 2reps no matter if I am tired or not in my usual shape. Best I have done is 5 times. I am around 89-90 kg. I never go hevay no more in the barbell bench press, dont get the stimulation in the muscle in the exercise what about you guys. I prefer to use the dumbbells and incline barbell press and the machines rather then the usual bench press

Well, I don't live in the city the guy does anymore... I'm on the west coast now, but I'll be back in Richmond, Va. this coming weekend... If I see him at the gym, I'll see if it's cool by him though.

I have no idea, my best raw rep bench was 365 for 20 reps. I would guess I could have hit 315 for at least 25 at that time. I was 257lbs when I did that.

i could squeeze an awkward 2 or 3 out in me late teens at 6ft and a fatish 275... wish i never now as me shoulders are constantly fucked,, inclines and db's all the way now as far as im concerned.... i got upto 280 for 4 reps at a tight 270lbs on inclines not too long ago before me shoulders started playin up again
as far as i can see, id say 90% of gym goers go up to 2 plates a side at best

Thanks of course, but I never considered that a great bench. There are some guys on this site benching some really sick weight. Granted, I'm a 39 year old paper pusher that's been doing this for the last couple years.
Here's what I do for what it's worth and with all humility:
I work out chest twice per week.
I warm up with push ups, 20 diamondback to warm up the triceps, then right into 20 wide to warm up the chest.
First set is something like 230 X 4 + 260 X 4 + 280 X 2 + 300 X 1 (just long enough in between to change the plates)
second set is the 310 X 7
third set 300 X 8-9
fourth set 290 X 8-9
fifth set is 280 X 10, then drop down to 260 X however many I can do, drop down to 230 however many I can do, then I go right into push ups on "shark stands" until failure (usually 15-20 reps)
I usually don't do the rest of my chest work out until later in the day because I want to recover. Instead I go down some whey protein and a quick bruning carb with some aminos.

I really hope you're not fool enough to think everyone falls in the same category when it comes to strength as soon as they walk into the gym. There are some naturally big and strong guys..this isn't highschool where everyone walks in a twig and can't even bench a bar. If he comes in at 225 it's perfectly possible for him to be benching 315 within a year let alone TWO years. C'mon man dont' give me that kinda bullshit where no one can achieve this or that within a certain time frame. I went from squatting 315 for my first time ever squatting to squatting 585 for a double in 6 months. You're a smart dude, I would think you'd know better than to make blatantly moronic statements.

I accurately posted the bench press part of workout in my prior post based on my work out log on September 30 (310 X 7 would not be a very spectacular lie). I have never used gear.
Here is my background:
I was an okay high school wrestler, then in my 20s I messed around with weights a little but I never benched over 250, then I went to law school, became a lawyer, did nothing for years. Then I had some substance abuse and legal issues and turned to weights to save my life (I previously give a very full account of this in the History and Memories section titled "How Bodybuilding Saved My Life").
I have done the best I can to make up for lost time during the past several years.
I don't doubt that I had some natural gifts for strength and development that could have turned into something special had I not wasted them.

flat is usually my second movement but I've done 245 for 43 reps and that was my second exercise (no spot). I know i could handle 405 for 6 reps without a spot. I only do eight very easy reps on 315 before I'm primed for my max set of 405. No bench suits.

I might be able to squeak out 10 reps with 315, with a spot. Haven't used a straight bar in a while. Highest was 365 for 2 last year. Bodywieght is around 215 now.

im down in bodyweight right now but if i tried i could still pull off 300 reps with 300 pounds because im 300 pounds.

Never tried it, but im 100% sure i could get it up, i have the abbility to go in trance and psyche myself out for it. Its a powerful meditational state of the mind with pure fury, all my lifts whent up after i started using it. You also need to get emotional when you want to preform a difficult lift. NEed to put some emotional content in that guy.

Right now....hmmmm let's see...probably I'd get about 0.45 reps before my shoulder would tear, since I'm nursing a chronic shoulder injury. Seriously though, since getting back into lifting I haven't attempted going that heavy because of the bad shoulder. The most I've tried was about 275, and got about 6 reps but my shoulder was really bothering me.

i used to weigh 190lbs and benched 315 for 12, ten reps consistantly. Now I weigh 160 and can bench 3 plates for 3 reps. But thats still almost double my bodyweight.

3 paused on a good day. touch and go, 4 or 5 if i'm feeling particularly spicy.
most i've ever witnessed was 23 by a fella who's probably 265 pounds at 5'7" or so. guy's a brick shithouse with t-rex arms, absolutely born to bench. saw him hit 455x2 with probably the softest touch on his chest i'd ever witnessed outside of most people warming up.
dude does the weirdest things to train his bench, including what i guess could be called a variant of 21's, only 30's. usually puts 225 on the bar and does 10 reps at the bottom half, 10 at the top, then 10 full range. i tried it with 145 and my arms nearly fell off by the end.

the real question is, why does anyone give a fuck?
when i used to bench press (don't see any reason to do it now. i'm not a p/lifter and there are better pec/upper body strengtheners that wreak less havoc on the shoulder stabilizers), as soon as i could do around 6 good reps with 315 i went up to 317.5. i never got into numbers.
most people that handle 3 plates easy for reps are on gear anyway (i was). if i see a natural guy do it, it's either life or death any way you can, short limbs deep chest, or they're a p/lifter and they actually know how to perform the exercise with maximum leverage advantage and minimum rotation around the shoulder joint.

Im in crunch time right now with school...but i get out for winter on december 15th...you just wait and see where i get my chest to in a few months....i got a way to lift that takes all the pressure off my shoulders. as well im gonna really commit to those flyes and just work my way up. but i did want squads shoulder routine. I figure like this. If i could have Squads shoulders with alex's chest, bulls traps dan18's back and my arms...with the blocks conditioning and truths strength...i would be in pretty good shape

Like if i had a trainer for like 8 months of building and then a diet guru, i could be a national guy. Maybe im wishfull thinking, i dont know. The thing that holds me back is injuries. specifically my shoulders. My left shoulder near the front delt-ish area or the lateral portion of my pec minor feels fucked after like 8 weeks of training. if i get that under controll...i think i could be pretty good.

okay..I'm not gonna flame anyone and call anyone here a liar about the poundages they lift...all I ask is that you are natural and that you don't get any added help (like with a shirt)...I am doing 265 for about three or four reps...I can now do 245 for about eight reps...I am still working toward my goal of 315 by end of January...not sure if I am going to make it...I am 45 years old and 5'4, 260...(yes I know, I am obese)...but it's all in the belly...the rest of me is pretty normal...I am starting to work on the cardio part because I now realize I am too old and my metabolism has slowed to the point where I can't lose weight strictly with lifting any more...I am also up to doing dumbbell presses with 90 lbs on each arm...hoping to push that to 100 lbs by end of January also...I am up to 110 lbs dumbbells on pull ups...(no one in the gym uses them and they mostly gather dust in the corner)...so I feel prety good about my progress...I think the best thing to do in order for a natural to eventually lift 315 on preses is to kep using heavier and heavier dumbbells to strengthen the shoulders, tendons and ligaments so u can handle the heavy, heavy weights...muscle strength means nothing if the ligaments won't help you to support and stabilize the weights...you wind up getting hurt and feeling really sore and unable to go heavier.

okay..I'm not gonna flame anyone and call anyone here a liar about the poundages they lift...all I ask is that you are natural and that you don't get any added help (like with a shirt)...I am doing 265 for about three or four reps...I can now do 245 for about eight reps...I am still working toward my goal of 315 by end of January...not sure if I am going to make it...I am 45 years old and 5'4, 260...(yes I know, I am obese)...but it's all in the belly...the rest of me is pretty normal...I am starting to work on the cardio part because I now realize I am too old and my metabolism has slowed to the point where I can't lose weight strictly with lifting any more...I am also up to doing dumbbell presses with 90 lbs on each arm...hoping to push that to 100 lbs by end of January also...I am up to 110 lbs dumbbells on pull ups...(no one in the gym uses them and they mostly gather dust in the corner)...so I feel prety good about my progress...I think the best thing to do in order for a natural to eventually lift 315 on preses is to kep using heavier and heavier dumbbells to strengthen the shoulders, tendons and ligaments so u can handle the heavy, heavy weights...muscle strength means nothing if the ligaments won't help you to support and stabilize the weights...you wind up getting hurt and feeling really sore and unable to go heavier.

Big mistake dude! If you want to improve your lifts creatine is unmatched. I always have all of my athletes take protein, glutamine and creatine. Those are basic fundementals. If you're serious about your training (not just doing it for recreation), then these three are a MUST!

it was in 93 and i cant remember the federation. It was at Byron Beebe's gym in Coos bay Oregon> Byron was this freak of nature that benched 480 at 185. So whatever federation he has his records in its probably that one. I was never a powerlifter. I just had a heavy chest day and Jim Johnston and i went to Coos bay and won the bench contest. Nikki went with us and i think she got 320 for one.
Is "Noel Fuller" a made up name or something? the apa/wpa lists someone else 242lbs with a 520 bench in Oregon.

Guys...lets get back to reality...I think there are VERY few people in the gyms throughout the U.S. who can lift 315 on Bench (I'm talking totally natural,never juiced,and using ONLY the Olympic bar, no shirts, gear, drugs or machines)...The numbers may be skewed in California and Florida due to the large number of genetically gifted BBer's who gravitate to those states to work out and possibly get exposure....In my neighborhood gym here in NY city I have seen TWO people do it...I have been a member there for four years...I am trying to work toward it and I am up to 265 for three reps...Everyone in my gym is pretty much natural...there are maybe two or three outstanding physiques that make you wonder...I'm sure however that there are guys who work out at home or definitely in prison who can do 315 easy...So come on now...HONESTLY...who can do it with no gear...shirts...drugs... machines...I would even go further and ask who can do it without a spotter?...because having a spotter can give you more courage and strength to lift heavier than you would normally ...I work without a spotter but in my gym if you get stuck, everyone there will rush over and help you quickly...don't flame me..I'm not advocating that we should work without spotters...that's just my preference..

i could bench 315 at age 19 with no spotter, and incline 315 at age 23 no spotter. ;D Natural, clean, nobench shirt-and i dont think im an above average bencher-incline, thats a good lift for me.
A friend i grew up with Norwegian strong as fuck, 210 pounds benches 425 naturally.

I agree with andiamadickman. Out of all the gym rats at gyms I have been a part of very few accomplish reps with 315. Most of those people were from this shit hole that was 10 bucks a month. Even the Golds around here don't have the warriors that it once had. The baddest of the bad work out at Eagles gym in St. Louis. Most Power lifters would be familiar with it. Pro National Champion Willie Wessels trains there.

honestly never done anything other than tribulus and protein and creatine and the regular supp's. and now that i think about it i probably could get it about 10 times if i was fresh and warmed up. Right now i get up to 255 for 8 on incline without a spotter on my 3rd set at around 200 lbs give or take 5 or so pounds. I used to do a martial art that was alot like wrestling, so i built a lot of strength from that and for that.
