Title: Not enough weight on machine stack
Post by: sagittal chest on March 23, 2014, 11:30:46 PM
I try to save time by working out with the machines at the gym in my apartment building,
however there just isn't enough weight to do proper bench presses, rows, etc.
Moving the pin to the bottom of the stack I can still easily pump out about 20 presses, and I'm not a volume trainer.

Does anyone else have this problem?

That's actually a good idea.

Might be awkward but will try

Ask the apartment manager to meet you in the weight room.

If female, bang her, and request free weights.
If male, smash his face all over the room, then request free weights.

When i was at a leisure centre gym i built up to the stack on most things quick so i did them 1 limbed. Obv a lot easier on things like leg extensions.

Judging by your photos you like like you struggle standing up unaided.

I just pick up the machine and throw it around until I get a good pump.

Look for one of the fat women in your apt building and ask her if you can lift her up to build your muscles.

Super sets and giant sets with the machines that are there. You can get a decent workout with little equipment if you try.

Oh this is getbig...
Try fucking yourself for sets of 6

Tell the apartment owner that you're a bodybuilder who posts on Getbig and that you demand quality equipment then strip down to the bedazzled posing thong you'll be wearing and begin the mandatories and quarter turns.

Expect a fully stocked gymnasium in under a week.

You're welcome.

Teleport yourself and the machines to Jupiter. The weight will increase six told thus rendering that weight stack more than sufficient resistance..

I can't believe I'm posting a serious reply to this but here I go. Get yourself an Ironmaster dumbbell set and super bench. If you have a little lifting knowledge you can work your whole body and never feel you're missing out not going to a gym.  Power blocks and their bench is another option. You can store your stuff in a small corner of your apartment. Ironmaster dumbbells go up to 165 and Powerblock to 120lbs. If this isn't enough weight for you make sure you are doing a complete range of motion.

There are a million routines you can do with these systems depending upon accessories bought. Here's one.

Dumbbell squats 3 x12 ( Hold dumbbells at sides with straps. Squat with upper body upright and sink your butt down. Don't deadlift the weight bent over. Let the weights brush the floor before coming up. I have seen 400lbs squatters that were a mess using 90lbs. dumbbells the way I described.

1.Dumbbell squats 3 x12
2.Dumbbell lunges 3 x12
3. Chins 3 x max reps (dead hang and pull to the upper chest. No partials.)
4. Single Dumbbell rows off a bench
5. Flat dumbbell bench 3 x 10 (go all the way down. If you do half reps in delusion you need a million pound dumbbells.)
6. Incline dumbbell bench or flies 3x10
7. Dumbbell shoulder press 3x8 ( do all the way down in a controlled rep)
8. Dumbbell laterals 3 x 10
9. Weighted dips 3 x 8
10. Dumbbell french press 3x8
11. Dumbbell alternate curls3 x8
12. Concentration curls 3x8
13. Stiff leg deadlift 3x8
14. weighted crunches or what ever ab exercise you want.

Do the routine ideally 3 x a week but two is okay and an occasional one is still going in the right direction. Cardio on days off.

Again there are so many things you can do with a good dumbbell set from different splits to different exercises. Consult a doctor prior too.

Ronnie used to hang a 45lb plate on the lat pulldown stack using the pin.

He's lifting in a shitty apt gym so I'm guessing buying $1,000+ worth of equipment probably isn't on the table.

But I agree with the gist of the purchase for an apt.  I'd also add the GoRuck 80lb sandbag, bands, or a TRX.

Badass answer right there.

On the moon, I can bench 1500 pounds.

x 2 on the bands, much better than trying to pin a 45 on the stack like a toolbag

Looks like we have another challenge 240.  Go to the moon and bench it (1 rep, NOT 10x150, etc) , with videotape, or you're full of shit.

If you prove yourself right, I will change my avatar for a month.

My rent is in excess of 2500/mo., but no, I am not going to invest 1000 dollars in this.
The bands seem like a practical fix. Putting a 45 pound plate on the stack is too much - as I already get looks from people as though I've turned the building into Branch Warren's den.
Pretty funny because my physique is not all that impressive - certainly not Groink's level.

Clever, the one at my gym has a 6'' to 8'' bar coming off both sides of the top for plates in addition to the stack.
