Taken me 18yrs to finally see a video of Flex (or even pics other than what was in FLEX mag back then, & i thought those were poor) at the '98 Arnold. At the time, & for years that, ppl said this was the best physique ever to step onstage.
... I think his combination of size and conditioning here is maybe his best. Even better than the 93 Olympia and 93 Arnold. His glutes were striated and dry in 93, but they were "feathered" in 98 along with more size overall.
Here you can see where he lacks the front-to-back thickness other guys have.
I still prefer his look at the 99 Olympia where he was much fuller, but even at the higher bw his back looked "small & thin". ¥hen notn looking art him straight-on. How many times have you seen a guy who's arms made his back look small?
