Please explain how a Flying Spur--a 4 door Continental GT--is more prestigious than a Rolls-Royce.  An Arnage, ok maybe I'll give you that.....

because it's a 7 series bmw with different bodywork!

people see a ghost and think "oh.. it's the baby rolls Royce. he couldn't afford the real rolls"

even if they don't know it's a 7 series.

people see a Bentley, even if it's the 4 door continental and still think "wow... it's a Bentley", even if they don't know it's the affordable Bentley.

I don't know dude, I think people will be impressed by either.  Maybe a bit less impressed by the Bentley because there's more of them on the road

The S-class isn't supposed to be "exciting"....90% of S-classes are bought by old white businessmen

Who do you think is the average buyer of the "exciting" Rolls?

The average buyer is a 53 year old white male (and probably a businessman).

this new S class design is more aggressive and a bit shorter than previous models....went to a car show last week and saw one on display and it's a total Badass, and yes, the average age owner of these are 45+, I just think this new line of Benz will attrack younger age groups .....if I had 150k to burn, I'd have my S63 AMG in silver on black... ;D

Yep, my dealer had a 2014 S63 on the floor for $150,000. They ordered it for the showroom not really expecting it to sell (at least not right away). One week later it was gone.

My buddy The Maestro played pool with Jay at his house...He takes pool seriously and said that he'll never play there again. He said Jay refused to move the plant in the corner and it fukced up his shot.

The average buyer is a 53 year old white male (and probably a businessman).

Rolls-Royce or Bentley is for athletes, celebrities, and anyone with more money than taste.  They are flashy cars, for those who want to get noticed for it.  Rich Piana, for example.

A Mercedes S-class is an incredibly nice car, but its still a Mercedes.  Not that exotic.  Rolls-Royce & Bentley are on a whole different level entirely.

A Maybach is much more luxurious than a Rolls Phantom...but the Maybach didn't sell well at all and is now discontinued.  Why?  It's too low key.  It can be mistaken for a S-class.  A Rolls-Royce Phantom is immediately recognizable, there's no mistaking it for a regular car--which is probably what someone paying $400,000+ for a car is looking for

I wonder if Europeans are aware of how inexpensive Mercedes-Benzs are in the USA?

World's largest Mercedes logo sign going up in N. Ky.
