Would Neil Peart be a better person if he was a huge bodyuilder?

Neil Peart is the greatest drummer in rock and roll. Like Mike Mentzer, he worships  Ayn Rand. I feel Neil would have been a better, more complete person if he was a huge, ripped, jacked bodybuilder. Thoughts?

Nothing in the world could make Neil a better person. No other drummer comes close to him. Did you know that he is not Rush's original drummer? He came on prior to their 2nd album Fly By Night. I went to every concert of theirs from the first album to Farewell to Kings. 2112 was the best concert and album of theirs IMO by far.

John Rutsey was the first Rush drummer. He quit the band to become a pro bodybuilder. I think Neil would have fulfilled more of a destiny had he become an enormous Markus Ruhl sized bodybuilder.

That's the guy! Thank you. I was too lazy to Google it. Everyone should do some blotter, window pane, microdot, or some old school acid and listen to 2112 at least once in your life. I did that probably 30-40 times.

how the hell would an enormous bodybuilder be able to have the concise speed and robotic precision as peart? personally I prefer a more organic rock n roll drummer.

Neil Peart is perfect as is, as is Geddy and Alex. There is no better band than Rush.....no one even comes close.

It did jump rather quickly to defend a poor single mom from mean ole' Wiggs in another thread - there is a strong possibility she's either a chick, or a highly effeminate crossdresser.

Rush has been my fave band since about '82, when I was 12. Can't say I listen to the band too much these days, but it will always be my all-time favourite (tied with another Canadian band, Annihilator).

Neil is one of rock's greatest drummers, no question. However, there are simply too many awesome drummers to single out just one as "the best".

The original drummer, John Rutsey, was ousted when his health became an issue. And besides, he wanted to continue in a more straight-ahead rock style than did Geddy and Alex.

John at a time (he's now dead) was pursuing bodybuilding but I don't think he ever had a desire to become a pro or anything.

It would be interesting to hear what Peart has to say about Rand these days. What his feelings are about her and her philosophies.

And like a lot of people, he put away childish isms when he grew up. 2112 is a long time ago.    ;D


Love me some Rush, but I'd hesitate to call myself a fan - those people are totally rabid.
