Trump claimed to be more popular than Obama — he’s wrong
« on: March 11, 2018, 05:20:51 PM »
https://www.salon.com/2018/03/11/trump-claimed-to-be-more-popular-than-obama-hes-wrong/

President Donald Trump has always been a man who's concerned with ratings, and anything ever done by his predecessor. So when the poll numbers aren't on his side, he has to bend them in his favor and make sure dissenters know that any opposition will be deemed as "fake news."

On Sunday morning the president claimed in a tweet that a Rasmussen poll "and others" had his approval rating "at around 50% which is higher than Obama" but his numbers were a bit off. He also told viewers to "turn off" any programs that broadcast numbers that tell a different story.

Polling data shows that between the dates Feb. 26, and March 8, Trump's average approval rating was 40.9 percent, according to RealClearPolitics. The most recent Rasmussen poll only had the president's approval rating at 44 percent, which differed from his claim that it was "around 50%." Rasmussen polls have a history of leaning in the favor of Republicans, and it's a poll Trump has routinely cited, while he's downplayed the results of others.

Not one other poll, which included Marist, Economist/YouGov, Quinnipiac University, Monmouth University, Reuters/Ipsos and Gallup, had a higher number for Trump's approval rating. Only Marist tied Rasmussen at 44 percent.

At the same point in former President Barack Obama's time in office, Rasmussen listed his approval rating at 44 percent as well, Axios noted. The lowest approval rating for Obama came in December 2013 at just 39.8 percent, however, his average of 48 percent over 8 years is still higher than Trump's.

While Trump's numbers have experienced a slight upswing in recent weeks he's still substantially less popular than Obama at the current moment. Obama holds an approval rating of 57.2 percent that has, for the most part, continued to rise since he has left office, something that could be seen as a consequence of Trump's election.

Regardless, a sitting president continuing to exhibit neurotic concern over ratings is still quite unprecedented. On the campaign trail Trump brushed off polling as being fabricated, but has since touted any numbers that he has deemed to be beneficial to him. He has acted similarly about stock market gains, only to disappear when it experiences a dip. His remarks could be seen as a merge between personal insecurity and authoritarian tendencies.

Obama is very unpopular. He is a fraud and should never have been President. He actually belongs in jail along with the cockroaches that forced him on the USA.

The fake news media's goal is to make it seem as though Hussien is popular, in reality very few like that Muslim coward.

The same polls that had Hillary winning in an electoral land slide months before the election and right up to the day of the election. Thank God Trump won. He has the lowest unemployment in 18 years. Highest stock market ever. Rising GDP that is on track to hit 4 in a few short years. Lowest amount of people on unemployment insurance in decades. Lowest amount of people on food stamps in decades. He got us out of the Paris Trade agreement that would see every year a higher payment in billions. An agreement that would let the world dictate our energy production but would have no constraints on China and India. He got rid of the Obama care mandate that was making middle class families pay monthly premiums that was higher than their mortgage payments for insurance that had such a high deductible it was worthless. He decimated ISIS by stopping the micromanagement of the military and took off the harsh rules of engagement that had the military asking for permission every time they saw a target. He put such pressure on North Korea that the President of South Korea thanked Trump for bringing the dictator to the negotiation table.  Not only the sanctions but the warnings of sanctions to the countries trading with North Korea and Trump parking the Navy in North Korea's back yard worked. The last jobs report last week was outstanding. He stopped the hostility against Israel that Obama started. Trump ended the white house hostility with the nation's police. He slashed border crossings by taking the hand cuffs off the border patrol. He cut taxes for 80% of the people.  He put us on track to be the number one oil producer in under 10 years.

Look at who owns and or runs the complicit press and their thirst for the liberal ideology. CBS, ABC, NBC, CNN, MSNBC, NY Times, Washington Post, Twitter, Facebook, Google and all the rest do everything they can for Democrats and to push their agenda. Everyday it's a push toward Orwellian manipulation through bias and propaganda to guide the masses. The masses fought back and elected Trump.

Obama was very popular among deadbeats and freeloaders, like SF1900. Trump is popular among people who are productive.

Since when do facts matter to Trumptard

All that matters in the Trumptard era is what you believe

If you believe it then it's "true"

He is certainly much more effective that's for sure. We live in a world under capitalism, there needs to be accountability and strong leadership, Im not a US citizen, but I completely understand and respect his point of view around trade deficit and the US market and Tariffs. The Chinese who took the majority of jobs from the US are not bringing their people out of poverty, their socialist system allows for exploitation of them, they have no democracy that would allow them to push for better pay, better lives. There is an emerging wealthy class of Chinese, but for every one there is a thousand more living and working in poverty to support their Louis Vuitton lifestyle. the WTO should not have allowed it, there can only be global free markets where there is competition in the global workforce, there isn't and successive western governments have sold out their people,  their jobs,  and swapped out a pay cheque for a welfare cheque with cheaper goods from impoverishing the third world. I am a capitalist, I hate socialists and im for the free market but not the version that was created and supported by generations of western politicians. Shame on them and Thank god for Trump even if he is an egomaniac.

The Chinese didn't take US jobs, US corporations went to China and India due to cheap labor (thank globalization) and thus, helped build a HUGE Chinese middle class. Also, China ain't that socialist. The huge consumption of western luxury goods by the Chinese is why Audi, BMW, Cadillac, Buick, Mercedes, Lambo, Ferrari, etc are making a killing. They have the largest car market (duh), and even many of the aforementioned luxury Marques debut cars at Chinese car shows. Not to mention that luxury goods cost a lot in China, yet there is HUGE demand for them. The West is falling and the East (China) is rising.
