I thought this was already common knowledge, no?
A big chunk of the stimulus package (Congress' CARES Act that gave $100B to hospitals to account for COVID-19 cases and their management) that was released not too long ago was aimed towards hospitals needing resources to better care for covid patients. They had to place a numerical figure on the heads of each COVID patient ($13k-$39k are the floating estimates that Medicare is presumably paying out per actual patient) in order to properly disperse funds. So of course, hospitals being businesses concerned with their bottom line above their concern for actual patient health (no surprise there), are going to not just report their covid-19 cases, but over-report other suspected cases so as long as they get their money and no one can possibly do a detailed audit of the situation at the Nationwide level.
Doesn't this sound like the basic capitalistic way of being? Why would I or anyone else for that matter walk away from free money especially when they practically told you there will not be any checks and balances?
What's worse is that all that *MONEY* is coming directly out of the taxpayers' pockets. Clássic redistribution of wealth at its best. Just like the bullshit $600/week unemployment checks given to all these freeloading scumbags. Those foolish parasites think they're sticking it to the man (ie government), when in reality they are simply stealing from the common man, as all those juicy $600 checks are coming directly from the tax money of other hardworking Americans.
But hey, here's the twist at the end of this rainbow.. You know who ultimately approved the CARES act? The REPUBLICAN controlled senate. On March 25th, the Senate voted unanimously, 96-0, in favor of the CARES act. So, I don't think any damn politician in Washington "cares" about the common man. Likewise, Americans are equally as foolish given that they only concentrate on small moves played out by the government and don't look at the greater picture. For as much as we all say that we hate socialism, based on these greater actions by our government, it seems like we all love socialism.
That's why Libertarians like me don't eat spoonfuls of the self-serving propaganda that comes down the hill.
