I have a buddy at work that preaches liberaltarianism whenever he gets a chance. He swears their numbers are growing!

It's the true American way man. Our founding fathers were trying to get away from unfair taxation, not create a new branch of their own that will equal if not best the same catalyst that led them to flee their mother country.

Americans are equally as foolish given that they only concentrate on small moves played out by the government and don't look at the greater picture. For as much as we all say that we hate socialism, based on these greater actions by our government, it seems like we all love socialism.

All they need to do is send out monthly $1200 checks and 90% will LOVE socialism!

Dude, Americans love socialism...

Free college (most recent in select states), Social security, Medicaid, Medicare, Unemployment, Corporate bail outs, Welfare, Farm subsidies, Fannie Mae, Freddie Mac, Public schools, Federal/State/City law enforcement, Court appointed lawyers, No rejection at hospitals if no insurance etc..

Americans LOVE that shit. People just hate to redirect and point their fingers at themselves when the benefits of socialist programs are directly benefiting them. Oh no, we're too good to succumb to that kind of bullshit.

People vote with their wallets and pocketbooks.

If they benefit they vote for it.

Human nature to scam the system.

They’ll love it until there is hyperinflation and the $1200 is worth shit.

People here have never seen it and don’t believe it can happen but ask someone from Argentina...

Bingo!

When will the common American understand that the more money you print out and pump into circulation, the more inflation there will be? You can have $100 in your pocket, but what benefit is that to you if the average cost of a gallon of milk is $101?

They assume this currency's intrinsic value to cover the costs of goods and services will remain frozen and protected by the government. Keep printing it out and much like Venezuela, Paraguay, Argentina, Vietnam and Iran, our currency will be worth as much as ass hairs. Problem with hyperinflation is that to Americans, the term isn't real. Not since the American Revolutionary War (circa 1775-1783) has this country truly experienced the nature of severe hyperinflation. And like all things, if we don't remember our past, we are surely doomed to repeat it in our future.

Liberaltarianism is a phase I was in for a long time, but I'm happy to say I entered libertarianism when I was 23 - an age when most of my friends were straight up leftist.  Now at age 40, I look at libertarianism as the same leaky faucet as the models I was complaining about before.  That being said, with a few refinements, it can work a lot better.  A zero immigration policy would be a start.  Whatever Israel is doing is working great for the Jews there.  I mean, to both be settling a land [which Israelis may consider to be reclaiming land] and to manage to find a system that works very well for Jews on what is said to be stolen land...is pretty epic.  In Canada, you can't go a day listening to our public broadcaster without hearing about the plight of the Indigenous people, who supposedly had it so much worse off before the evil White man showed up.  ::)

I can't IMAGINE that any such leftist Jews in Israel hold any significant media positions there.  But then - I don't know.  It seems like everyone has gone batshit with these moronic ideas these days.

I thought this was already common knowledge, no?

A big chunk of the stimulus package (Congress' CARES Act that gave $100B to hospitals to account for COVID-19 cases and their management) that was released not too long ago was aimed towards hospitals needing resources to better care for covid patients. They had to place a numerical figure on the heads of each COVID patient ($13k-$39k are the floating estimates that Medicare is presumably paying out per actual patient) in order to properly disperse funds. So of course, hospitals being businesses concerned with their bottom line above their concern for actual patient health (no surprise there), are going to not just report their covid-19 cases, but over-report other suspected cases so as long as they get their money and no one can possibly do a detailed audit of the situation at the Nationwide level.

Doesn't this sound like the basic capitalistic way of being? Why would I or anyone else for that matter walk away from free money especially when they practically told you there will not be any checks and balances?

What's worse is that all that *MONEY* is coming directly out of the taxpayers' pockets. Clássic redistribution of wealth at its best. Just like the bullshit $600/week unemployment checks given to all these freeloading scumbags. Those foolish parasites think they're sticking it to the man (ie government), when in reality they are simply stealing from the common man, as all those juicy $600 checks are coming directly from the tax money of other hardworking Americans.

But hey, here's the twist at the end of this rainbow.. You know who ultimately approved the CARES act? The REPUBLICAN controlled senate. On March 25th, the Senate voted unanimously, 96-0, in favor of the CARES act. So, I don't think any damn politician in Washington "cares" about the common man. Likewise, Americans are equally as foolish given that they only concentrate on small moves played out by the government and don't look at the greater picture. For as much as we all say that we hate socialism, based on these greater actions by our government, it seems like we all love socialism.

That's why Libertarians like me don't eat spoonfuls of the self-serving propaganda that comes down the hill.

It’s common knowledge to those of us (including you) who knew the numbers had to have been skewed or just total BS because of the in consistencies that went on during later in the first shut down and definitely going on the second and the stories floating around about when someone does it’s a Covid death regardless of how the person died, the verified stories of people not taking the test but received letters in the mail that had tested positive, etc etc.

I know several nurses that have to take to the test every so often, one came back “inconclusive” but it was still reported as a positive test. Then you have the Constitutional violations of businesses getting shut down, large funeral gathering for elites but we can’t have indoor Church services or worship (sing) and let’s not forget gyms. These are just a few examples.

But the #MSM tells only reports the infections for more click bait reporting to make things seems a lot worse than it is. It’s those people that follow ONLY those MSM reports that will call bullshit on the real stories and don’t think it’s political. So, no. It’s not common knowledge with those people

Then you have those who think Fouci is the be all to end all and the only credible Doctor in the world despite him being wrong 99% of the time

Did anyone here actually read the article

It's quite short so I think most you can get through it without needing to take a break

Not exactly conclusive or damning and the numbers appear to be small....but don't let that stop you from pretending the entire thing is just a hoax

Quote
U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention Director Robert Redfield agreed that some hospitals have a monetary incentive to overcount coronavirus deaths as they do deaths for other diseases.

“I think you’re correct in that we’ve seen this in other disease processes, too. Really, in the HIV epidemic, somebody may have a heart attack but also have HIV — the hospital would prefer the [classification] for HIV because there’s greater reimbursement,” Redfield said during a House panel hearing Friday when asked by Rep. Blaine Luetkemeyer about potential “perverse incentives.”

Redfield continued: “So, I do think there’s some reality to that. When it comes to death reporting, though, ultimately, it’s how the physician defines it in the death certificate, and … we review all of those death certificates. So I think, probably it is less operable in the cause of death, although I won’t say there are not some cases. I do think though [that] when it comes to hospital reimbursement issues or individuals that get discharged, there could be some play in that for sure.”

Questions have been raised about coronavirus counting in hospitals across the country, and conflicting conclusions have been raised about whether or not deaths are being accurately counted.

A Yale study concluded that the overall coronavirus death toll in the United States is a “substantial undercount” of the actual number; White House coronavirus response team member Dr. Deborah Birx suggested in May that deaths are being overcounted by 25%.

There appear to be cases where the opposite has happened. An investigation in Florida found that several deaths were wrongly attributed to the virus, including the case of a man who died from a gunshot wound to the head.

The CDC’s website lists over 3,700 coronavirus deaths characterized as "intentional and unintentional injury, poisoning and other adverse events." In Texas, more than 3,000 people were recently removed from the overall coronavirus count because they were never actually tested but considered “probable” cases.

It is not common knowledge because the media is obfuscating the facts with political opinion.

But wait a minute, do Americans simply not read? The entire CARES act is open to read/view by the public at congress.gov.

You mean to tell me Americans simply believe what the mainstream media (regardless of partisanship views) tells them to believe? Why would a nation of freedom seekers voluntarily give up their right to know what is being passed in their names by the representatives elected to best represent and serve the people's interests?

Here's a copy of the CARES act for those that have yet to actually read it: https://www.congress.gov/bill/116th-congress/senate-bill/3548/text

Remember, all this bill does is redistribute the wealth of Americans (by way of the taxes they have paid over the years) into the pockets of those "most needy". Those "most needy" can include the dirt poor, criminals who live but to leech off the system, mentally ill, injured veterans.....AND high paid hospital executives, wall street executives, private business owners (with less than 500 employees who can call upon the PPP and payback can be forgiven) and those that also can manipulate the tax code into showing low enough earnings during the year by washing their income via other means. Keep in mind, the idea is that by doing this, it will prevent our economy from completely tanking.

I follow brother. The media's censoring is downright disgusting. Moreover, I just don't know what medical doctors to trust on these matters.

While we've had coronaviruses in the past (namely SARs and MERs), this one is slightly different it seems and they haven't been able to pin any one medication as a silver bullet for treatment. There are cocktails (ie combinations of antivirals, antibiotics, antipyretics, plasma therapy and immunosuppressants) that work, but even then, results vary depending on how healthy the person getting these treatments was to begin with.

So, again I'm no doctor, but it sure seems like NO actual doctor has a great understanding of how to BEST treat this virus. We've made good progress so far over the last 6 months, but nothing altering of the current paradigm. Hence why I don't know who is worthy of trust in the world of medicine. Keeping in mind that none of these TV doctors are truly qualified to opine on matters regarding a pandemic (neurosurgeon, emergency medicine doctors, primary care medicine doctors - ALL are not trained to handle exotic and novel infectious diseases the likes of this new virus). They are doctors in their respective fields, but not infectious disease doctors.

Problem is, the nation's TOP infectious disease doctor Fauci, highly touted as the man that wrote the book (in some respects did, as he has co-authored many of the books used throughout US med schools), flip flops on his stance every few months. I get it, medicine nor diseases are static and things can change from day to day especially with a brand new disease pathogen, but fuck man, pick a spot and stick with it for more than a week. Otherwise, you lose credibility.

As for me, I wear a mask wherever I go and wash my hands when capable of doing so. I now enjoy dining out with friends and doing more and more of the things I used to do pre-coronavirus.

I take a baby aspirin, multivitamin, tons of vitamin D, eat a well balanced diet and get good sleep every night. These are the things I can count on as effective based on the very limited and ever changing "guidance".
