Rey Mysterio has a knee injury right now, and is expected to take time off soon. This may cause the program with Batista to be rushed.
Mark my words, he will eventually be released as he is now a liablilty.

The high-flying style is not conducive to longevity in the biz. You can't throw your body around like that on a regular basis without eventually twisting, tearing, or breaking something.

You can tell that age is starting to sink in with Ray too. Watch one of his older WCW matches and you'll see the difference compared to how he wrestles now. He is still fun to watch but you can tell he has slowed down dramatically.

If he's gonna set up residence south of the border, he'd better do it soon.
He's already past his prime and very injury prone.
These facts indicate a decreasing window of time he has left to wrestle.
Mexican promoters down the road would likely still take him to use in some capacity, but he may not be able to capitalize on the financial opportunity like he would by going now.
Regardless, there's a reason he's staying where he is right now.

He's only signed a temporary deal with WWE. Mexico's Triple AAA organization was offering him 1 mil per year. He is practically worshipped down there. Don't be surprised if he bails or if WWE lets him go.

It's a shame to see him constantly getting hurt like this. They would be better off letting Batista 'injure' him in the ring, letting him have a couple of months off and then bringing him back for a big WM feud.

Yes, he hurt it at a house show.
