Question
« on: October 26, 2012, 02:12:40 PM »
  Off topic... but...

 Regarding tests in school...

I felt that many of the exam questions were designed to trick you, rather than test your understanding of the material. The exams were absolutely absurd, and did not match the material covered in the lectures at all. Tests went from being easy, to just being plain old confusing. Is it just me, or do others feel this way?

Tests are state dependent.  If you are high when studying, then you need to be high at test time.  I hope this helps.

Typical testing = Rote memory, which is useless in the real world. This is how america does things.

Real testing should = analytical thinking, which is way more productive in the real world.

  Thanks SF

It was always why I would get 80-90 when I totally knew the material. The few that I would miss, were because I was tricked. Tests should NOT be intended to trick a student... they should be ONLY to see if you KNOW the material. I do NOT mean MERMORIZE. I mean actually KNOW. UNDERSTAND.

They are testing your comprehension.  I loved exams and tests.  I would slack off for most of the year just drinking and fucking and then study hard before exams and ace them.  I avoided classes that required attendance.
