Damn dude, I'm really sorry to head about that new pec tear.
I'd just go ahead, pick a lift or 2 and try to get stronger in the gym.
Thanks man. I'm going to work seated press and military press hard. No injuries from those yet.

Still wondering why I'm so prone to tears all over my body. Perhaps I should do slow eccentrics to build up my collagen matrix.

I sent copies of powerlifting USA to OMR to show some of my lifts when I competed and other proof. No videos back in the dark ages when I put up 505. Oh and what's left of one of my 80's trophies.

Mid fifties and grandfather to be still in pretty good shape considering my spinal problems.

Keep on truckin'. You're still looking healthy and fit for a fellow of any age. Sorry about your spinal problems. Fortunately, my having degenerative disc disease has not bothered me other than it causing me to shrink almost 3" since I was 18. In fact, I zap my back very seldom. Much less often than when I was younger.

no

i train high reps with light weight

normally three sets of twenty with 225

i've got some permanent injuries

so its more about hanging in these days than lifting big

Sensible. Do you think in hindsight that the heavy lifting led to the injuries? Would you change anything if you could go back in time?

yep

i would leave my ego at the gym door

i trained in a hardcore gym for a few year where everyone was maxing out balls to the wall the whole time

most of use left that place beat up

i see young guys now doing exactly the same

I wonder?
I think it's just like any fighter or football player looking back on their career.
The Ali vs Frazier fights were legendary battles where they beat on each other.

Big Ronnie would never be viewed with the same awe if he lifted carefully with moderate wts.
We want to see larger then life pros doing impressive workouts in the gym.

Jay once said something about this issue in one of his videos.
He was doing t-bar rows as a guest in a gym and said ;
" Add another plate. You won't  be remembered unless you  lift heavy ass wts."

The last time I benched (like 7 years ago) I barely managed 3 @ 275. It's not my best lift.

did you video the lift with three independent sworn in witnesses

and have the weights verified on a calibrated machine before hand

According to Getbig standard, I've never benched. I stand corrected.

I havent barbell benched in 8 years.

I just did a clean unassisted set of flat DB press with the 120s*. Getting in and out of position alone is more work than the set  :-\

Working out alone has some obvious drawbacks. Would love to work out more with WalterWhite. That guy pushes hard in the gym...

* I know: nobody saw it, no video made and the weights weren't calibrated, so it didn't happen.

Last week, I was out in Seattle on business and worked out at the downtown Gold's. The sheer volume of demotivated, flabby twinks was seriously depressing. At 0500, nobody in shape is training in Seattle. The upside of working out alone is the only person I see is a beautiful older man carved of granite (all homo/narcissist)

Unless the weights were calibrated, the lift is no good.
