...played on a Strat

That was some mighty fine playing by Clapton, and he did something there that Hendrix never did - he played it in his shorts.

Thanks for sharing!  ;D

Best cover version ever by miles.

The second solo that starts at 1'42" is my all time favourite.

I like Clapton, but he's been playing the same licks and phrases since 1972.

I started playing when I was 12 and I could play everything Clapton played by the time I was 16.

Good stuff. Trower's singer, James Dewar, was great.

The cool thing about youtube is that you can put the greats side by side and compare them, and, from what I've seen, there is no acoustic guitarist better than Bert Jansch.

The guy's got talent on  guitar, no doubt, but unless he can write ORIGINAL great songs, the money he'll be making is $50 on a Saturday night playing in a Journey tribute band.

the painful truth

too many guitarist and no enough musicians.  today you can just write a poem, steal a chord progression, and hope you get radio time.  musical talent is irrelevant to success.

exactly.  yes, there may be high schoolers out there who can "outplay" Clapton (and i seriously doubt that), but they can't write a 3 note progression if their life depended on it.

So are you saying that someone who has writing talent can make some decent cash selling their lyrics to make a song? I've got decent writing talent, but zero musical talent. Yeah, I've written lots of lyrics, but I'm not sure that they could be transformed into a song.
