In context, it’s not as scandalous as it first appears.  Remember, Liz came up at a time when respectable women did not sleep around and they certainly did not live with a man outside of marriage; nor did they have sex outside of wedlock.  If you were a respectable woman and you wanted to be with someone you got married.  Ask your grandparents; it was a very different time.

Today, women sleep around—a lot—and they shack up with one man after another.  In Liz’s time that kind of behavior was not a red flag—it was simply unacceptable.

Easy with the vitriol lads. She won two competitive Oscars for Best Actress. That puts her in select company. The first for Butterfield 8 in '60 was a bit of gift as she had a bit of a health scare that year. Her second was for 'Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf' in '66 was very warranted. She gives an amazing performance, almost un-cinema like in it's realness. Harrowing. In fact, it makes you, at times, feel uncomfortable as if you shouldn't be watching her. It certainly put paid to any doubts as to her acting ability.

Beautiful when young as well as on in to her middle years.  Talent?  Enough that when paired with her exceptional beauty she won two Oscars.  I know, I know...The Oscars are pretty much voted on by the industry itself, but all things considered she was good enough to warrant at least one of them.  It's all just tinsel really and her passing is nothing more than a piece of that shiny stuff falling to the ground.

What I'm saying is if you have slept with more than eight people you are a bigger whore than Liz ever was.

Come now Bay, you honestly believe she only slept with 8 people !??! I understand what you're saying about

reputation in those times, but there's gotta be reasons why she remarried 7 times!

When an actress gets old, the should knit and join a nursing home.  Get out of the cameras site!  I can see wrinkles on my balls, do I need the shit on tv, as well?

That's not the case for male actors. They only get better, like a good wine....

she was stunning in her prime, although it was her eyes that made her that way, she had a great shape, but nothing great,  i'm sure tons of hopefuls and unknowns back in hollywood in the 50's and 60's had smacking bodies for that time ( i.e. the hourglass voluptous figure).

a history of pain mentally and physically is finally did her in, i mean she was 79 which isn't that old, .... how old is sophia loren? and she is still smoking hot, best looking grandmother in the world. alot of it has to do with genetics and just how you take care of yourself, which loren did and still does, probably a combination of genetics and that great mediterranean diet, etcetera.

in regard to raquel welch! damn that woman is 66 years old! i don't care if she's had millions of work done on her face, plastic surgery can only do so much, and she is still fricking hotter than hell. she puts to shame the fricking wannabees and sluts nowadays i.e. K.K.

who was sexier raquel or elizabeth? well, it's a different kind of sexy and a different kind of beauty too.

raquel is pin-up sexy then and now, while taylor was more "classy/classic proper beauty" looking. raquel would be the ultimate hooter girl.

raquel, elizabeth and marilyn? to me, raquel would be fun and hot in bed, marilyn would be fun and sweet and hot making a man feel like a man and elizabeth would be rough and possessive at times both needy and controlling, almost acting like she was the man in bed. that's my take on these 3.

Yes! and the first person that comes to my mind is Bill Murray, for example his roles in 'Lost in Translation' and 'Broken Flowers'.
