Awkward lol.

Very gay.
-
lol. I can't wait, Silva is gonna rape this bastard.
-
And here I thought Bodybuilding was gay... :-X

lol. I can't wait, Silva is gonna rape this bastard.
Ive put some money on Anderson also. Hes going to make wiedman Eat all of those quotes hes made during the last 1.5 years.
everyone felt awkward except Silva. He doesn't give a shit because he knows whaäts going to happen. And weidman will think back about the time silca gave hima kiss because ruining him lol. (would be fun if wiedman won though)
-
Very gay.
It's only gay if you make eye contact.
...wait
-
Dana White use to be an aerobics instructor...I'm pretty sure heterosexual men don't chose that type of profession...
-
Silva is the best of all-time. Appreciate it while you can.
But-Weidman is no joke. This is a very interesting match up and dangerous for Anderson. Nobody's beating Silva standing, but Chris can and will take Silva down and that's where Weidman can score points and steal rounds.
-
I hope Silva brutally stops Chris.

Andy, Gsp, and jones are all legends in the making (or are already) and will be talked about for a loooong time. People will talk about Silva clowning poeople. People will talk about GSP outwrestling ncaa nbaa nhaa bnmhaa ngbaa vncaa champions without any background in wrestling and people will talk about Jones ruining Legends after only a few years of fighting for decades and even more if mma remains. Not many sports have a oppertunity to watch legends Still fighting and Fighting their Idols etc.
-
why is this silver guy always fighting skinny twinks
-
Great post sweed
-
No Fedor is the greatest
Nah, I disagree. I'll go w/ Silva-he fought the best of his era.
-
Great post sweed
I think people forget about that kind of stuff :)
-

He got owned in Pride by Japs
He's great but not the best, the guys he beat at Middleweight were decent, nothing great.
Fedor beat greats like Nog and Mirko, he didn't lose for a decade.

Those Silva bouts in Japan were works?

You wish ;D
Submitted twice to cans
-
Sat will be a great day for us getbiggers first we spend the day looking at oil up men in thongs then at night we can watch sweaty men lay on top of each other.
-
;) :D ;D
-
Jon Jones is the one that can be the greatest, he's young and already beat some names.
Gus is next, sorry Swede ;D
-
Silva got submitted in Pride, he never took a beating except for Sonnen 1.
A case could be made for Fedor, no doubt. I just feel the case for Silva is stronger.
-
Jon Jones is the one that can be the greatest, he's young and already beat some names.
Gus is next, sorry Swede ;D
I would almost put Jones ahead of silva at this point comparing opponents/years trained. Its not Silvas fault though that he hasn't really had a decent challenge in the ufc besides chael. Jones doesn't beat silvas timing though. I just wish he would have gotten some better opponents.
yes its a tough fight for Gus biggest fight related thing to happen to sweden since Ingemar Johansson beat Floyd Patterson.
Not that the media gives a flying fuckj though since its sooooo violent ::)
If Jones keeps beating people hes no doubt imo the best of All time. Gsp is also great but jones takes it by stopping people. Gsp could however make you so tired that he could eventually beat you to death with a spoon ;D
-
I would like a TRT belfort vs Silva after this fight.

True, just think Jones will be challenging for the Heavyweight title soon. He wins that then no question, he's the best. Silva hasn't challenged himself enough, he should fight at 205.
Fedor was a small heavyweight and he fought guys that outweighed him by 30 plus pounds most of the time.
-

Jones lost to a deaf Genova. A loss is a loss ;D
-
Those wanting a Silva/Jones fight might get it sooner than expected. Except it will be Roy Jones.
Dana White is giving this joke of a fight some serious life by talking about it recently. In fact, Roy will be ringside this weekend.
-
Jones lost to a deaf Genova. A loss is a loss ;D
Indeed
Amazing how Jones was able to recover after such a devastating defeat ;D ;D

Fjodor had this unmatched mystique about him. Pre facebook shit, pre twitter shit. (that sentence made me sound like a knowitall, I watched pride on replays didnät follow it closely back then)
hes up there also though. Anyone who beats Schilt, big nog, prime coleman, prime randleman, prime crocop, prime hunt is.
But when Jones moves up to HW and if he takes the belt. Its game over for everyone. As lonmg as mma remains. Jones will be talked about.

;)
-
lol. I can't wait, Silva is gonna rape this bastard.
As much as I appreciate Silva's skill I avoid buying his fights because they are bad match ups. Other then Jones who can give him a good fight? No one comes to mind ???
-
;)
who you got and how and when?
I either got silva by murder in round 2 or weedman pulling a boring 5 round upset. Dunno if its because ive been affected from all this talk lol.
-

What do you mean "his fights" though?
Cub Swanson vs. Dennis Siver have the potential to be an awesome striking battle.
Mark Muñoz vs. Tim Boetsch weill either be great or boring as fuck. And munoz is Shredded for the first time in his life.
Tim Kennedy vs. Roger Gracie gracie makes his UFC debut as one of the best grapplers in MMA @ 185 pounds. Against a kennedy who takes shit about the UFC pay and will suffer the wrath of it if he loses lol.
And then you have one of the best mma fellas of All times facing a guy that's talked for shit the last 1.5 years.
Adn then you have a few Free fights which can be great, Gonzaga which has the potential to relaly be great if he focuses on his ground game and doesn't think hes a striker and Chris leben is always fun if the other guy is up for it.
edit* oh shit, and Edgar ofc! now he can go full pace right away!
-
My money has and will always be on Silva.
I have met Chris a few times while at Renzo's academy. The kid has a great attitude, tons of energy, drive and a great desire to win. He is a very good wrestler and strong on the ground (I'd say a strong purple belt that can pass for a brown).
As a New York City local and as a Gracie student I hope Chris does well, but my mind tells me Anderson already has his number and will probably knock him out.
If they trade blows, Anderson will knock him out to tomorrow. If they go to the ground, Chris must be mindful that Anderson is still a black belt in JiuJitsu and that he has been training day and night with the likes of the Nogueira brothers, Fabricio Werdum and every other high-grade (heavy weight) black belt Brazil can offer.

have you rolled with Marcelo?

have you rolled with Marcelo?
If you mean Marcelo Garcia, then yes I have rolled with him. His academy is literally but a couple of blocks away from ours.

-
damnit. you reminded me of the fact that we're not going to see Aldo vs Pettis. Damn I was looking forward to that shit :(
That is an aspect with mma that fucking sucks. you never actually know if a fight is even going to happen before the actual Day they're fighting.
-
MOST lose if they stay too long. MMA, Boxing, Kick Boxing, etc
I have rolled with Marcelo and I got destroyed super nice guy though super nice

opinions? best you ever rolled with? Ive heard hes Really strong for his size., and obviously incredible.
-
I have rolled with Jacare who has tooled Marcelo but I still find it hard to say that Jacare is better than him Marcelo is not that big so I have to give him the title of pound for pound very tough though because there have been some great ones super long list

I know the other fights draw me and and UFC has drawn me to Boston and Vegas to watch fights live. I just hate the letdown of the main event. Gonzaga looked horrible in his last fight being careless and Chris Leben also looked bad. I realize those are free and should be. Last season TUF was better then most of the PPV fights I watched if not all.

This guy would school jacare and marcello watch as those russian sambo guys cower in fear.

opinions? best you ever rolled with? Ive heard hes Really strong for his size., and obviously incredible.
In my opinion, he is the BEST JiuJitsu practitioner in the entire United States.
I've rolled with Renzo, Eddie Bravo, Shaolin Ribeiro, Roger Gracie, Marcelo and with Braulio Estima. They are ALL extremely talented.
Marcelo, in my opinion, is better than everyone in the USA who teaches JiuJitsu (Keep in mind that both Roger and Braulio are based out of the UK). I would even say he is TIED as the best in the world along with Estima.
When Braulio Estima came to New York to hold a seminar at Marcelo's academy, I attended and got a chance to roll with him and Braulio submitted me in less than a minute. Keep in mind that I am a high ranking Renzo Gracie Brown Belt. That said, Braulio made me feel like a damn child and I took note of it for future edification. His sheer power on the mats is ridiculous.
I've rolled with Marcelo probably about 4-5 times and he is a damn Magician. I am much taller than Marcelo and with him, I felt as if my height was of no advantage. I am definitely stronger than he is as well, but his technique is too strong to use brute strength on.
In my opinion, Marcelo and Braulio are equally talented and out of 10 matches, I can see it going either way, they are just masters at their craft.
I train with Renzo weekly and he is ridiculously good (can whoop me into a submission very quickly, especially since all I know I learned from him and Danaher).
Shaolin is a strong guy, very explosive and fast. He uses a lot more brute strength when he rolls and with him I felt that his technique, if not careful, can lead to fractures.
Roger is another killer. I think if I had to rank in order, I would say that after being tied (Marcelo & Braulio) at number 1, Roger is at a close 2nd, followed by Renzo for 3rd, Eddie for 4th and Shaolin for 5th.
Sorry to go off on a tangent, but that's my take on the BJJ world..

Looking forward to Rogers debut. Hopefully he does't want to prove that hes learned striking or whatever. And Focuses on what hes great at.

Not that I know of.
These guys come from a culture that has a very rich sexual history and one that has a heavy presence of trannys.
That aside, I have yet to meet any student that acts flamboyantly while on the mats. I don't think that would be tolerated or taken well.

Chris a strong purple? You must mean in the gi and not in no-gi (which is much more relevant for MMA), right?
If not, how do you explain Chris' fine showing in ADCC 2009 against Andre Galvao? http://vimeo.com/6921039 (http://vimeo.com/6921039)

Chris goes to the same Academy as I do.
John Danaher, who is the same guy I have been training with for over 9 years is the guy that gave him his purple belt.
Belt rank does not determine how well you perform against another opponent, regardless of their rank or gi vs no-gi.
If you train under the right academy, they train you to be strong in both gi and no-gi from the start. Some academies will even do no-gi as their preferred technique (see: Tenth Planet JiuJitsu).
For instance, you pit a random black belt from an average storefront JiuJitsu academy taught by a weak instructor against a Gracie purple belt, the Gracie student will win most times in combat. It comes down to skill and what the Gracies and Alliance teams do is what separates the good from the best.
Chris was an All-American wrestler 4x. There is a natural transition wrestlers have into JiuJitsu, which makes it easier for them to grasp the major concepts and body mechanics involved. Chris went to ADCC after only 3 months of taking JiuJitsu (3 MONTHS!).
He was a blue belt just up to a year and a half ago. He came to our academy (Renzo's academy) and rolled in the open drill slot with a mix of blue and purple belts and he was submitting guys left and right. John Danaher sees him doing this, approaches Chris and asks him what belt rank he had, Chris answered with Blue and immediately John Danaher promoted him to a purple (on the spot - like 5 minutes after open drills).

eh chris handled himself well against maia
He sure did.
My point with regards to Anderson being a black belt is that Chris shouldn't underestimate Anderson's JiuJitsu skill set. Just because he doesn't use it as much, doesn't mean he isn't well versed in it.
Maia is fantastic in his own right, but Chris' size was too much for Maia, not to mention his overall intensity.

omr is correct chris did well at adcc against top level black belts he will probably get his in a year or two

If Silva wins this fight, he should demand a superfight with either GSP or Jones. Then he should retire after that fight win or lose. There would be no shame if his last fight was a loss to a guy like GSP or Bones Jones.

He won't have to demand it. Dana will force him to have a super fight with Jon Jones.
Jones and Silva are both now up for it. GSP has stated very clearly that he does NOT want to fight Silva in any way, shape or form. GSP knows that Anderson's size, striking, experience and power is too much for him. He (GSP) has said this to Dana White.
Assuming all goes well and Silva beats Weidman as planned, look out for a super fight sometime before the end of the year, down in the Texas at the largest football stadium they have. It will be a Jones/Silva superfight.

I remember that fight. It's also ironic that the commentator in that video (Barnett) is the SAME guy that outed PRIDE for having the most fixed fights.
While it is true that anything can happen, that fight in Pride was one of those that had many controversies afterwards. Even the sheer application of that scissor heel hook was weak.
That said, ANYONE can lose at any time.

Roger Gracie is not a fighter .
He should try out for the Brazilian indoor Volleyball team
-
Roger Gracie is not a fighter .
No.
He needs to stick to submission grappling in ADCC.
He is trying to get into MMA too late into the game and his striking game and overall stamina is nowhere near what it should be to even survive in there.

Indoor yes , beach volleyball not so much , I bet the sand would be too hot for him.

Terrible way to lose the title. By dropping your hands and acting like an idiot, and getting tagged.
-
Well, lost money on that fight.
Why the hell would anyone drop their hands when someone is trading fists with you?
Overeem should have set the example as to what NOT to do. Anderson.... :-\

Fedor lasted about a decade, Overeem had a good 4-5 years, Silva about 8 years and I think Jones will now continue his reign for another 5-10 years etc.
All the greats fall sooner or later. I am just disappointed at how Anderson got careless, especially when it came to striking.

I never agreed with that tactic.
In boxing you NEVER drop your hands. I've said it before, ANYONE can lose if an opponent connects with a devastating shot to the chin.
That said, great night for the Renzo Gracie Academy. The two guys who had their camp at the academy came out on top.

Agreed.
Overeem did the same bullshit and got what he deserved. A fight is a fight. Putting your hands down while a guy is running towards you hooking left and right is no way to show superiority. Weidman connected, dropped Silva and deserves the accolades for the win.
Just due to the mere fact that Weidman beat Silva at Silva's game (striking) is enough to earn him a lot of respect. Now, we will see if Weidman will make a good champion by defending his belt and staying undefeated long enough to garner a great legacy. He already has added his name in the history books by being the man that finally dropped Silva, so for that alone he will always have a legacy. Now is when his story as a champion truly begins. Now is when he can actually negotiate a real contract and not the scraps Dana gives out to the 3rd tier fighters.

I never met Silva, but even if I did, he wouldn't have cared to listen to me.
I've spoken to Chris a few times, wished him good luck a few weeks before the fight and that's that. I didn't think he was going to be able to pull this win, but for this great win, when I see him at Renzo's I will (like everyone else) congratulate him and wish him the best in his reign as champion.

If this is true and Silva gets a rematch, then his reign ends without one successful defense, so his legend is just a phantom ko.
Well, Silva did say he was done going after the belt.
At 38, I'd say he is done, unless his corner/family/manager talks him into a rematch and he takes the fight seriously. Hypothetically, even if he does a rematch and happens to win, it wouldn't be the same. He would avenge a loss, but he will live with this mistake for the rest of his days.
Assuming he happens to take that option and beats Chris, Dana will then capitalize on the little gas he might have left and pit him against Jones for a superfight in order to make the biggest pay per view of all time. If that were to happen, Anderson would lose without question.
Hypothetical scenario aside, I think Anderson will simply walk away. If he does finish that 10-fight contract, you will have a much greater possibility of seeing other guys beat him.

He taunts people like that so they exchange with him. Its one of the ways he controls a fight.

Well, don't get me wrong, I still believe Silva's striking is light years ahead of Weidman's. Weidman just did what he was taught to do if he traded strikes with Anderson (keep defense up at all times, bring the fight to him by closing the distance and don't let him distract you with fakes).

I don't know. I have no clue about that.
I do know that Chris was walking away with less than 30K from this fight regardless of winning. That is what I heard at the academy from the same guys that coached him during camp.
Now is when Weidman will be able to negotiate a true contract and not get bullied by Dana and the Fertittas.

How the fuck can he be done playing around? There's nothing in this video, which states he can't beat this guy. Shit, at 38 he's quicker than him. This is a good video for young cocky fighers, if they think they have someone over-matched. Shit can be turned on you in a minute.
He'll beat this guy easy in a rematch.
I love how getbiggers bandwagon when an almost unknown wins in this kind of phantom fashion.

still same power, same speed, and hungry as ever for another title shot ( oh yes still using supplements).
I see Chris as a good fighter but not great and his weight class has some tough dudes. He won't last long.
As for Silva, he will not come back to fight unless offered some huge money for super-fight against Bones. He is 38 and its time to close the book.

He will lose again ;D
and he wasn't going to beat sonnen in the rematch.
how much does he get paid for the rematch? guys re-track their post fight responses all the time. now, post fight responses determine a guy's future career decisions. that's only on getbig. ::)
next?

Anderson not asking for an immediate rematch makes more sense from a marketing standpoint. Let chris defend his title at least once or twice. Considering all the showboating prior to the KO most will expect Silva to come out on top in their next encounter as long as he doesnt make the same mistakes.
There are very few legit challengers left at middleweight so it makes more sense to build chris up a bit more before making a title run if/when Anderson takes it back. The guy has wayyy too much pride to let this type of loss go unavenged.
Chris looked relieved after Anderson announced that he has no immediate plans for a rematch. Gotta watch the post fight press conference though.
I've got munoz beating weidman if they face off.

That was mark before all the surgeries to repair his arm. Could be a different fight if they meet again.
Anyway we'll find out soon enough.
Watching the post fight conference. Dana doesn't look too happy that his posterboy lost pushing for an immediate rematch.
-
anderson has dropped his hands in almost every fight
True. This time, though, his opponent had accurate hands and no height disadvantage. BTW, I think he was keeping his hands down because he was afraid of Weidman's takedowns. He ate some leather after being taken down in the first and was careful not to let it happen again. Anderson seemed to have passed up a couple opportunities to throw knees (one of his most effective techniques, usually) for the same reason.

I think you just broke the bandwagon in half you jumped on it so hard.
Quite a few pro MMA'ers, including GSP, were saying they though Chris would win before the fight. Maybe those guys know something?
-
All my bets turned to shit but not even mad. Fucking In-sane. I was thinking Weidman was getting physched out already in the first when he suddenly didn't do any more td's the exact thing which he said he wouldn't. Worked out for him though ;D
-
Anderson took a dive. He intentionally monkeyed around acting like an ass and Chris whooped him for it. Serves him right.

Bad night for the Brazilians ( sans Gonzaga )
Gracie Jiu Jitsu must be on suicide watch. ;D
Anderson must be relieved to finally lose must be a huge burden lifted off of his shoulders , after a while he'll sort it out and perhaps come back for a rematch
How about this pair lol

When I got into fights in school as a teenager, I didn't know the importance of hitting someone square "on the button". I would aim for the face, but not specifically the chin. That's the button. That's the sweet spot that puts a man down, and it doesn't take a lot of power to do it. If I only knew then.

Yep, you could have killed someone and been in jail now.

anderson silva was so out of it, he tried to leg lock herb dean Cheesy Grin

Naaaa.. Schoolyard fights were always in the soccer field, as the Principal would suspend anybody fighting directly within the school boundaries. We learned to take it off school property.

Err... the location doesn't come into it.
That wasn't my point.

i didn't have too. there'd be more doubt when he went in the sonnon rematch. he was BULLSHITTING around in this fight. i don't play the bandwagon game. you can tell by his posture he was shitting around from the opening bell.
you hitting a guy with a phantom shot while he is ass clowning doesn't mean anything, tell any kind of story, as far as who is better?

Weidman beat Silva at his own game
(http://i.minus.com/ilMMo3roT2rA3.gif)
After this Silva was a frustrated mess.
-
im SOOOO glad Silva lost!! And im happy he finally got tagged after his show boating(egotistical prick).
BUT i wish Wiedman would have beat him "legit". Cause you know now everybody will be saying ya he lost but only because of...blah, blah, blah and would have beat Weidman if he was trying
-
silva was either trying to leg sub herb dean or he was going for a sweep :D ;D

You're right. Silva was frustrated as hell.

Weidman is the best striker in the world

This.was.worse and funnier.then the manny pacquial KO

i think silva will win in a rematch

You're right. Silva was frustrated as hell.
frustrated after only 5min and one round in a 5 round match ???
-
Silva was never really that good anyway...

Silva has an ego the size of Texas. He obviously wanted to stay standing. By pulling his normal shtick he was attempting to regain control after losing it the first round. The illusion has been shattered. Expect more of the same from this point forward.

In a rematch, Weidman wins again and probably pretty easily...There's no way Silva can go into the rematch and not be scared. Weedman is the one who looked extremely relaxed in this fight...

No offence intended, because I'm seeing this out there, everywhere else and I think I'm maybe in the minority - Is it because the dude who KOed him is American that you guys are sort of glossing over the fact that what we just witnessed was fucking retarded? I can think of nothing else. I guess you have to give credit to Chris for winning, but the way he won just makes the whole affair a complete joke. I would be still pissed if I was Weidman - Silva basically threw the fight. But at that stage, he'd made Weidman look like no less of a chump than Forrest Griffin in standup (ignoring the early takedown which was solid work).
I know a lot of people are saying "fix", but to me, it's more like "mental weakness" that he's been showing for a lot of fights. The dude is crazy as hell. His post fight interview was absolutely ridiculous. "He's the champion, he's the best?" - ugh, what a dick. I guess that when you have a 10 fight contract and you're utterly bored with the whole affair, you might turn into what we just saw. I don't read humility in what he does - I read fear and boredom. It's not so hard to lose your title to someone when you basically got KO'ed doing an acting show.
I just don't understand why there isn't more condemnation of this guy. I don't know why the news reports are talking about anything but that. That being said, you have to show respect to the guy who won - but ugh, the circumstances of it are stupid.

If he really cared about a challenge he would have left the middle weight division years ago and contend for the LHW title but he didnt. Silva didnt because he liked being a big fish in a small pond. In my opinion, Weidman won the first round pretty convincingly and was far from looking like a chump.
-
So who won, Herb Dean or Anderson Silva?
-
herb just jumped up and out of the leg sub and ran away! :D ;D

The funnier version of trying to bring down the ref after a flash knockout was babalu vs liddell 2.
After the TKO the camera was on the iceman celebrating and all of a sudden Rogan exclaims " babalu is fighting big john mcCarthy" The cameraman then focuses on a dazed and confused babalu sobral being restrained by Big John. That was pretty funny.

Good for him. He kept his head and didnt get baited into playing andersons game. Too bad Dana is pushing to get a rematch so soon. Both chris and anderson looked crestfallen when Dana made the announcement at the post fight press conference that it would be a rematch against anderson and not another opponent.
