Keeler was said to be having an affair with Britain's defence secretary and a Soviet spy,based at the Soviet Embassy in London. The spy,allegedly,used that relationship to gain access to military secrets,such as when American nuclear missiles would be taken to West Germany. This was at the height of the Cold War,just before the Cuban missile crisis. It would've been somewhat of a big deal,at the time.
The defence minister's lie and cover-up of the affair was exposed and brought the Brit government of the day down.
Over 50 years on, it is still a pretty murky affair .All the details of the case are still not in the public domain.
