Ordering a Dog from Europe
« on: September 15, 2007, 03:14:27 PM »
Say if I were to get a puppy from Europe and the dog usually would have its tail docked and ears cropped. Still possible to do this?

In Europe they don't dock tails.  At least with Rottie's they dont.

I think it depends on the dog.. My buddy growing up had huge thick doby's and they didn't crop the big males.. they looked just fine.. I think they actually looked great.

They dont crop or dock in Europe or Australia. If you do get your Dobie cropped/docked over here, you have to do it when they are puppies, and making their ears stand takes more than a little patience on your part.

Yeah I decided not to crop my pits ears simply because i didnt want to mess with having to keep them taped and healing and worrying about if they would stand or not. She looks fine the way she is.

Yep she convinced me to keep her natural, plus I dont really have the extra cash laying around to be going to the vet every other day.   :-\

yeah, the whole loss of expression thing really got to me, i love seeing the dogs ears go back in confusion or perk up or whatever else when something excites them. I didnt wanna see my baby with spike ears that dont move.
