saw paul at the Olympia not long before he died. we were both kicking painkillers at the time (me nubain/torbugesic and him oxy and morphine). he was big still, maybe around 240/250, I didn't ask, and he was gonna compete in the next year. I thought it was "cool", and unfortunate that we had something in common.. we exchanged emails and ended the conversation with him saying "good luck" and I said I appreciated it. he seemed lonely and kinda down, like he didn't really want to be there (at the O) and seemed glad to be talking to somebody. I would've hung out and bullshited with him longer but my ex was getting bored and hungry just standing there waiting for me. I really thought things were gonna be fine for him. thought he'd kick just like I me, and that he'd get back to "normal"... training, competing, etc, like I had. never did email him, and the next I heard of him, he was dead of a heroin overdose. I couldn't believe it... I really thought he'd get off the shit just like I did.

thats some sad stuff

opiates are no joke

I got prescribed Tramadol for back pain, I took a couple one day when my back was playing up and was spaced out all day, apart from feeling sick it was a nice feeling, the next day I had an urge to take another even though my back felt fine.

If you are at a low point it would be easy to get hooked.

Saw this Platz video on the same page...Think I'll try this leg routine at Planet Fitness...

Very hard exercise .. sort of a Hack squat with a sissy squat. Sissy squats hurt my knees. Platz had great Flexibility.

Alot of those bodybuilders from what I heard got hooked on opiates of some kind wether it was oxycontin, percocet or vicoden because they all started using nubain and then the nubain source dissapeared or got real hard to find so guys were all strung out and started messing with opiate based pills wich gets really expensive if you don;t have a prescription then comes the heroin because it's cheap and these guys are not some suburban kids scared of needles. lots of them got fucked but paul was just unlucky and died from it. didn;t get help when he needed it.

Before it was very hard for me to get DOMS after training legs. Tried these out with a similar mindset and the next day I woke up with DOMS from hell. Haha. I enjoyed it though as I knew it was working. Cut my leg workout in half as well.

Remember just before he died, Demayo was working with Trevor Smith trying to get back into shape and compete again. Sad story, Paul seemed like a nice guy.

I take pride in my ability to avoid becoming a drug addict.

Succumbing to the temptation of opiates isn't an achievement, you appear to wear it as a badge of honour.

No I don't I'm glad I quit but c'mon man Tramadrol! I'm glad they didn't give you anything heavier then you might of really got a taste of what opiates really feel like. This is what I get prescribed I don;t use much oxycodone anymore but I still get it prescribed. I use suboxone instead.I still take xanax for insomnia and benzos have killer muscle relaxant propertys.

Had a cousin ODed on a mix of xanax, loritabs, and alcohol. Saw it coming. He even drank a bottle of rubbing alcohol one time.

Another cousin ODed on heroin. Something about the place he was using a different kind of cut. I don't know.

Craziest thing I ever took for pain was some hydrocodone. Never could even finish the bottle.

Hydrocodone is just vicoden, nothing too strong but still a opiate based pill nothing cpompared to oxycodone or oxycontin but addictive. DAMN drank a bottle of isopropyl! I use Isopropyl rubbing alcohol after i do my shots on the injection site that stuff smells so strong. I'm surprised he didn't throw it all up. My best friend and step brother both died a little over a year ago from a heroin overdose he was a addict for 6 years it was like watching someone with cancer but worse he went to jail for 45 days came out clean and he found out he had to do some more jail time so before he turned himself in he bought some heroin and he overdosed off it because his tolerance had dropped because he had been totally clean for the 45 days in jail and the 18 days out of jail just that one shot killed him and he used hefty amounts for years.

I thought you were joking for a min... Sorry to hear this, I know a few ex bodybuilders who ended up on the bottle or the syringe etc, after starting off on a healthy endever to alcoholism/drug abuse

Ah, man, sorry for your loses.

Drank a bottle of the green rubbing alcohol. Which has 70% isopropyl in it, I think. Only thing that happened to him was his face swole up. He was a savage alcoholic. Would go away to one of those hospitals to recover for a while. Come out and stay clean for a few months and then get right back on.

Both cousins were great guys when they were off the stuff. But when on, well, they spent a lot of time in jail. Their lawyer was a family friend and must of had been a genius to keep them from prison time. They were addicted to loritabs since early teens. They worked moving trail or homes. When they would get tired or hurt too much to work, their dad, who owned the mobile home moving company, would just give them a loritab to get them going again.
