How far back? I remember being a 6 year old kid in Brooklyn walking around the corner with my Mom to the Italian market on a cold winter Sunday morning to get a loaf of Italian bread to go with dinner. I remember standing on the grate outside the store and smelling the aroma of the freshly baking bread coming up from the cellar. I can still smell that in my mind...  :)

Keith, I am from Jersey.
You named a bunch of guys that were from the generation before I really got into tennis.  Van Patten was an interesting one, as he grew up fairly famous.  In today's world, he would be a millionaire because of a reality show and it wouldn't matter if he didn't have any talent for entertainment or tennis.   ;D
I was actually a better basketball player than tennis player, but ended up playing Div. I tennis (I was NOT a great collegiate tennis player, but good enough to play Div. I NCAA).

Cool.  I never played except recreationally but I love it to this day.  I really thought my daughter would love it and become a pro but she didn't.  Yes the Van Patten family is of course very well known.   Wayne Bryan is the father of the Bryan Twins who are the #1 ranked couples team in the world.  It's cool you play tennis.  Sevatase plays too.

I miss dodgeball in PE and trying to rupture someones spleen.

I miss that weird feeling you got in your nether region when climbing the rope.....WTF was that all about?

I miss watching sports and thinking it really mattered to me.I miss the music from back in the day....grew up on RUN-DMC, Beastie Boys and hair bands (who all blow away the shit on radio now).

I can relate to this....I still enjoy baseball(college/pro) and college football....NFL and NBA have turned me off over the past few years...March Madness is cool. NFL/NBA has turned into more of an entertainment drama spectacle than sport...IMO

March Madness, ahhh, I remember staying after school to watch the Maryland, Georgetown, Florida, Duke games...and Maryland still plays the same way...

Little league baseball, 80s sitcoms, the "Showtime" Lakers, old KISS, Bruce Lee/Chuck Norris flicks, the ice cream man, Dr. Demento radio show, Halloween haunted houses, Magic Mountain, nerf basketball in the bedroom, jumping milk cartons on my BMX, claymation Christmas specials, Giant Robot and Johnny Sokko, summer of Jaws, first weight set, Huntington Beach, and the original 30 HR club: Garvey, Smith, Cey, and Baker.
