No disrespect, but that is an example of why you should have to earn your pro card by competing in a contest - not getting it gifted to you. He never won a show which qualified him for pro status - but was granted pro status. They are starting to do that with figure girls too. Unless it's a case like Dina where she was unable to go pro due to her country of birth - you should have to earn your card - not just get it.

And just how does one "Go about getting a pro card giving to them" guys like this wouldn't even win a state or regional title. They sure as hel;l dont belong on a stage with like Priest, Cutler, ex.

If you competed today in that condition, they would have no choice but to turn the judging criteria around!!! People might not like the outspoken Shawn, but it's funny how they ALWAYS listen!!! Classic shape, great lines and small waistes will come back!!! Bell bottoms did! History always repeats itself!!! ;D

My first flex magazine had you on the cover with a blonde chick in valley-girl-ish clothing. Around 1986. I don't even know if you were a pro yet.
You actually needed world-class genetics in those days to turn pro.
But now anyone that hangs in there long enough with high enough doses and pit-bull determination eventually gets their pro card.
More guys look like SH*T than look good.

Of course Shawn took gobs of juice, T3, probably dabbled with some growth, and whatever else he needed to stay competetive.
That's not my point. I don't care about drug use, I'm all for it.
My point is that muscle shape, symmetry, proportion and aesthetics don't mean jack squat anymore. Just look at Heiko and Kamali et al.
That's not to say that I don't like size...but you still need some aesthetic lines. Some.
Drug use won't change your "shape" or any of the other so-called subjective judging criteria...Shawn should thank Mom and Dad.
There were some straight-up hideous chemistry experiments on the IM stage.

Point taken. He never wins anything, but I don't think half the pro's should even be pro's. And by that I mean regarded as "the best bodybuilding has to offer".

i tell you y we wre seein shitty physics now, its because back in the 70s and 80s everyone wanted to be a bb so u had more people competing nd out of those 1000 people that wanted to be bb there were lyk 5-10 amatuers that had good lines, symmetrical and asthetic ect. but now a days no one wants to be a bb nd the few that make it to pro status is because the judges have no choice but to give pro cards to amatuers wit crappy bodies

Combination of bad genetics and not enough gear, imho..These guys will never have th physique to break into the pros, but they keep killing themselves. I realised the reality a long tim ago.. :( always dreamed about going fa rin bodybuilding...but it takes spme special genes to do it...otherwise its not worth the gear you have to take tomake up for it and keep up with the gifted ones.
Shawn, you look amazing in that pic. Thats when youwon the nationals..id be proud of that too, it puts our greek statues to shame!

Yes you should have. We take things to literate here. Also, if 6'1" is the new average it is the first time I have ever been average in anything. Usually way above or way below. Oh god!
