I know, read that a long time ago on Iron Age...I wanna` beleive, but it does looked shopped.

At any rate,he was a great bodybuilder..........one of the best even though most here call him a swimmer because he`s not 300 pounds.

Cool pics.........great old shot of Zane........NABBA Mr. Universe contest I believe.

When I was a kid,Zane was my idol......read all his stuff and even thought I could look like him,but of course I would be a much more handsome version.  :)

Best chest ever IMO. his pecs were immense. they  took up 3/4 of his torso and had perfect shape

his detractors claimed he was all pecs and no delts. Maybe it's true. But imho this combination is way more esthetic as the other way around (huge delts+poor pecs) like the today's pros.

Pretty sure this shot was just before the 1982 mr O. Zane said he smoothed out especially in the legs the day of the show but he was in great shape just before.

Why did guys train barefoot sometimes back then? It seems like there are no possible benefits to doing so

not specifically for training but it is good for the arches (heal to toe & big to little toe) to go bare footed. It also works the toes as they grip the ground more than they would within shoes.
Most weightlifting and powerlifting boots are quiet flat and low heeled
Unless one wears steelies there is not much protection ordinary trainers will provide if you drop a 20kg disc

Mike`s a good dude.....met him in 2000 or 2001 at the Masters Nats where he guest posed.....as soon as I told him I was also from Massachusettes,he talked with me bacsktage about shit for 45 minutes or so like we were long lost friends.

He weighed over 300 and he was sloppy as hell......tore his shirt off then posed in trunks, then apologized to the audience because he was so out of shape..........said he was travelling a lot.

The people loved him anyway.

Fantastic, from what I heard, he was a good guy, and worked hard, at guest spots. Pity what happened to his health
