Possible venue for Mr. Olympia ?
http://www.orlandosentinel.com/news/local/orange/orl-dpac2208aug22,0,3583880.story
Edit - not going to happen - here is the info for the 2012 Mr. Olympia
For those who want to know in planning for the 2012 Mr. Olympia, September 27th - 30th will be the weekend, in Las Vegas. Should be pretty much the same schedule
2012 Olympia - Las Vegas
Thursday, September 27th - Press Conference and Meet the Olympians
Friday, September 28th - Prejudging Mens
Saturday, September 29th - Finals Mens
Sunday, September 30th - Seminar
The 2012 OLYMPIA WEEKEND will take over Las Vegas on September 27-30, 2012. One of the world's greatest fitness expos will be held at the Las Vegas Convention Center along with many of the premier evens such IFBB Pro figure, fitness, bikini, women's bodybuilding, under-212 bodybuilding, strongman, power-lifting, grappling and more! On the evenings of September 28 and 29, the action moves to the Orleans Arena for the Mr. Olympia
-
Looks like a very nice venue, but it is too small. Currently, the Orleans Arena has the capacity for 9,000 people or so, and last year, they had close to 7,000 people in the audience for the Mr. Olympia finals. Las Vegas has been an incredible successful city to host the Mr. Olympia, because of the capacity of a myriad of hotels, the convention center, and of course, a large enough arena. Besides, you can make a vacation of it, seeing lots of things in the city too.
-
i suggest Ben Hill Griffin stadium in Gainesville.
-
last years was awful, looked so plain and generic
Look back at 2003, 1994, 1995, 2002 etc
The stage was different each year with cool creative layouts to the stage
-
Seeing the success of the Tampa Pro, with half the industry showing up, it'd be cool to see more shows in FL

how do you think your USF Bulls are gonna do this year?

unranked baby. fluke.

To even use the word Success and Olympia together only shows how someone is so lost into this sport.
-
unranked baby. fluke.
i've seen a lot of polls that have them ranked in the 20's.
-
Why don't they move it back to the Los Angeles area? Bodybuilding has its most significant following here in Southern California. Why not hold it at the LA Civic Center (next to Staples Center) or the Santa Monica Civic Center?
-
olympia should come to east coast like conneciut to host it-we have good venues and spacious arenas for entertaininemnt good shops restaurnats hotels bars boardwalks etc
ron please pass along to higher up
-
Looks like it's gonna be a very nice venue.....but is there a high enough concentration of gays (in the state of FL) to support a Mr. Olympia?

if they were worried about that they would move the show to your hometown and the gay capital of the US, san francisco ;D

HAHAHA. Seriously though, how come an "olympia" has never been held in a gay friendly place, like SF? It makes sense......shit, I bet they could pack CandleStick with 100k gays.....

We tried to get a pro show here some years ago...we were going to hold it in the Shubert Theater in New Haven, where we had held the annula and very successful Gold's Classic.
Worked with Wayne Demelia....it just was not feasable...would have been nearly impossible to even break even.
Mostr pro shows make little, if any, money at all.
The Olympia....maybe the Hartford Cicvic Center...or maybe the Oakdale/Chevrolet Theater in Wallingford....but it would never happen.

Is that where you take your fiancee' Don for a romantic outing? ;D
no i take my state trooper test there

And using Olympia and "sport" is also wrong on so many levels :D

I don't know. Easily 1000. Maybe 2000. I'm sure Tim Gardner or others have accurate count. I was in the 3rd row, and the threater was pretty full. Also the side/balconies were packed. It varied. Easily 1000 though, without blinking. Maybe more, but I'm terrible and visual estimates.

Why bother? Las Vegas is within driving distance of So Cal, so they get that market anyway, but in Vegas the venues and hotels are cheaper, and there's other stuff to do.
Because I can't stand Vegas. It is a desert, it is usually far too hot, and you see some of the most pathetic people there. If it were here in LA, I might actually go to the Olympia one year. However, it seems that the tickets are way over-priced, so I probably wouldn't go anyway
-
You all can go to hell the O' is staying here in Vegas where it belongs!! :-X ;D

Mr Willie,
Florida in September is also extremely hot.
-

That is correct.
The former SF Pro show, when it was actually held in SF, was allways packed with puffers salivating.

That Arena was 60% full at max... I sat in the nose Bleeds and had 3 people in my entire section..

that's why I say coastal Southern Cal is the place it should be. The weather here is nearly perfect

I am so stoked that Mr. Olympia is headed for Orlando!

Can the Luxury Hotels Orlando (http://www.123world.com/orlando/orlando-luxury-hotels.php)has to offer, handle all of this testosterone? I am thinking that only Vegas can...
-
I personally would like to see the Olympia change cities again. Orlando would be a viable location. Definitely enough hotels and things to do there. I would love to see it come back to New York City.
