Flip flops are the deal on the islands. Especially where there's a lot of sand that you have to walk through. But if you wear them, make sure you have good foot hygiene. Nothing nastier than uncut, yellow,crusty, cracked toenails with dry, look like you been kicking a flour bag feet!

flip flops living at the beach = imperative (wore em yesterday on a fishin' trip)

Well I am a foot and calf guy, so flip flops dont do much for me....and I just realized how much of a meltdown I had.

sorry ninja but when its 100+ degrees out and you arent going anywhere special they are more practical sometimes, shoes and socks keep you much hotter.

You are allowed to wear sandals, like the Tiva or any boat sandal. Even those Adidas sandals are okay in my book.

But the ones that are shitty ass foam with the plastic thong thingy...those are worthless unless you are showering in the men's bathroom or about to compete in the local Sumo wrestling championship. Go bare foot if you are at the beach or stay inside if its 100+.

I fucking hate flip-flops too - my wife forced me to buy a really expensive leather pair before we went on our honeymoon and on the first night I wore them to the restaurant.
Man, I was fucking raging - firstly because I looked stupid, secondly because I paid so much for them, and thirdly because they kept slipping off my damned feet every time I took a step.
My temper was made worse by the fact that I just finished a course of gear and I was annoyed that I had ruined the first night of my honeymoon.
I'm getting annoyed just thinking about it now.
