I've travelled through Central and and South America and had a great time. I went to Belize and drank with the locals at the casino. I wouldn't exactly advise going out in the city, but I enjoyed myself. I spent quite a bit of time in Mombasa - It's a beautiful place and I liked the people, but I was there during the 2013-2014 political turmoil when local Islamist clerics were being assassinated and the city erupted into violence frequently. I witnessed the riots, roadblocks, and arson attacks - but it was all in good fun. Tanzania was amazing. I spent a few months there and had a great experience. The only time I've ever lost my wallet was in a rural part of Tanzania, and the locals returned it to me with all of the money left inside.

I've been to around thirty countries, and Thailand is by far the biggest shithole I've ever had the misfortune of visiting. 'It's Disneyland for adults' they said. Baloney! It's Disneyland for fucking idiots. Spending a few months in Thailand made me reconsider my views on nuclear weapons. It's basically the physical embodiment of Getbig: a place for some of the biggest losers and social outcasts on Earth to congregate and live out a fantasy. A sweltering, neon hell where lost souls pay for the privilege of feigned affection, and the locals hover like hyenas waiting to strip you of every last penny you own. The only people stupid enough to fall for the facade are bodybuilders and starry-eyed students with their romanticised notions of achieving spiritual development through riding on the back of an elephant suffering from PTSD. Naturally, every man introducing himself to you in a bar happens to be a mercenary or millionaire - they're just disguised as a fat, middle-aged divorcee with strabismus and a fucked hip; and the bumbag strapped around their gut isn't really a bumbag containing their inhalor, antiretroviral meds and prostitute money: it's actually a customised holster containing their Walther PPK and 'combat cash' in case they have to make a break for the border and lay low for a while.  ::)

You do realize there is more to Thailand than Nana Plaza and Patpong? Sounds like you spent most of your time in those red light areas and are basing Thailand on a few streets.

Was born and lived in Serbia for the first 19 years of my life. If you are not born into the tradition, history and language it can be very hard and scary to understand, I get it when people describe it as unsettling and dreary.
On the other hand, for me, I keep going back to my childhood and thinking more and more about it as I'm growing old in North America, romanticizing about the times long gone.

Is it a shithole...you could say that, since people have been repressed for thousands of years, either by the Ottoman Empire (today known as the Turks) or by their own sadists, recently (Slobodan Milosevic). Living like that you're always in survival mode and so it feels normal.
When I was a kid in the 80's, I lived near a movie theatre and people would come out of a night show and literally piss and shit outside the cinema, just fucking horrible, thinking about it now. Yeah, wars are good, they sterilize societies...

I was going to visit Serbia, but didn't have time to go from Kosovo to Macedonia or Montenegro to cross the border. Ended up just going to Macedonia  ::)

Outside of Colombia, the region must have some of the most beautiful women on the planet. However, I was warned not to talk to any women in the company of a man. So to play it on the safe side (and because im a complete pussy)I didn't talk to any for fear of being beaten to death by some angry slav in a leather jacket.

lol, if they're alone (or with female friends), in a club or a caffe you'll be fine. It's easy to spark a convo with slavic unlike the north american women. Usually, you can start asking about places to visit or have a good time and if they speak english you're gtg
