Are there a lot of Maoris and Tongans in Hawaii?
I live in Auckland, which has the highest Polynesian population of anywhere. Very nice people in general.
Depends what you mean by a lot? But it's mostly in the rural areas where I live. Also, it's hard to tell. Them colored folk all look alike. One guy I know, a good 6'2" solid 300 pounder that never eats breakfast I thought was Samoan but he said he was Maori. Tongans are way easier to spot because they're the only ones that still speak in public among themselves in their native language.
Good people. Tight knit family all of them. Family is everything. They got each other's back to the death. They only leave their home land for work. To build a better life. I just had a Togan family lay some concrete in part of the back yard since it was a swamp and I hated even walking out there. Father, uncles, brothers -- all there. Did a terrific job at a terrific price. Polite and respectful as can be. They even cleaned up the mess I had in my garage. Even their teenage boy was there helping out.
We should all be so lucky to grow up in a family like that.
