All seniors are enrolled in Medicare.  Is that the same as mandatory enrollment?    Seniors are also free to get their own insurance, or even pay for their health care out of their own pocket.   Single payer would be pretty much the same.    

Single payer would be paid for by some tax, which may be progressive or not.  everyone would be covered, the overall cost of health care would go down, and we'd save trillions in the long term.

you are already paying for other peoples health care:  through county taxes to pay for emergency rooms used for the wrong things, and inflated hospital bills to pay for those without insurance.    why not just do it efficiently?

Describe "works"? Most people in the those countries cannot get the treatment the should have because the government pretty much dictates the meds and treatment they can and cannot have. People are suffering and dieing from it. Certain cancer do not get prescribed because if it's costs. The administration and people like yourself are in the minority and no one on the the left gives a shit. If you mean it "works" to a certain extent, then yes it does...until something serious happends.

Limbaugh was quoted as saying that the type of care he received was proof that the health care system in America works.  Unfortunately, it happened in Hawaii, which has one of the most 'socialized' health care system in the US.
