Usually it's a bad look....but I live in Portland (nike fucking everywhere) and recently have been wearing Nike Hyperknit Air Max with a pair of Diesels. Those are $225 shoes and the jeans were more...not quite homeless looking. It doesnt look too bad.Point being, a clean pair of running shoes with slim/straight jeans can work. I wouldn't wear it to a steakhouse but good everyday casual look. And certainly not for poor white people. Of course, you are right that a good dress shoe is best with jeans. Love wearing some tan/burnt orange monk straps with nice jeans. I'd rather wear Nike's though then a pair of "casual" dress shoes like boat shoes or some ugly shit like that.
