I`ve had an ephinany on depression.
« on: January 12, 2013, 05:36:08 AM »
Self pity and depression are a  drug, they`re so comforting, such an addictive habit,  and they do the same amount of damage to your life as a raging coke addiction would.

heres the deal skippy. depression is real - been there. get your ass up and go outside for a walk. the docs tried to put me on drugs for that shit, I said no, went the exercise route instead. One of the best things in the world for your mind and spirit is to be outside away from distractions, gives one time to think and gain resolve. try it, might take awhile but it is effective. now fuk off.  ;)

anger that is held in becomes depression.

You need to find a way to release some of that repressed anger you're carrying around.

This is the truth.

I think there's some merit to the claim that at least some persons derive something from self-pity, probably comfort of some kind or other.

Wether you give a meaning to your life believing in christianism, buddhism, islam, hinduism, atheism (which is a mix of philosophies and science etc) in the end it's you vs the world and you still have to create, find and maintain your place, to reproduce and teach your best strategies of survival to your offspring so he/she can climb the ladder even further. Basically whatever your system of believe to give a meaning and point to your existence, you re still an animal just like everyone else and it's not going to change. Now , what you re going to do with that intrinsical animality, how you re going to live, is conditionned by the belief system you ll choose. I personnaly think the superior system of belief that make people improve each others fairly is Christianism, and that it allow one to rise in society by earning and keeping money to insure your and loved ones survival better than others systems of belief. Christianism allows one to create, not sure about other religions or systems of belief; atheists are cynical, sarcastic and depressed, need pills to smile and laugh, and dont reproduce anymore while abusing everything under the sun before dying, muslims are jealous, envious, duplicit, parasitic, indhuists believe in feodal social classes, chinese are just able to copy russians and westerners, but cant create shit by themselves from scratch...

It`s also a necessary process, you need to have an ability to pity yourself, otherwise you lack introspection.

My point isn`t that being depressed is automatically bad. My point is in the long term it`s a major issue. It`s also as common for most people as drug problems are, yet we as a society don`t see the issue in those terms.

Depression, misery, stress, anxiety or denial is the default condition, one has to understand this.

Actually I`ve made maybe 50 posts in the last six months about this shit. Considering I post about 20-30 times a day on multiple forums it`s something I rarely talk about.

Depression is self defeating, illogical and above all, useless. A major issue of course, how could it not be? You're basically self sabotaging yourself 24-7.

It causes decreasing competition in a social setting. The winner loser paradigm has long been established in our social evolution.

Instead of playing a never ending game of musical chairs, self esteem is used to hold people in their places. So the one with a chair is insecure and fearful of losing what he gots, while the chairless see`s competition as a waste of effort.

It`s more complicated than that, and to simply downplay depression role is naive, my point is you should never binge in it.

its very real, and a horrible thing. The key with depression is to find YOUR niche as in what works for you and helps you overcome it. Remember you cant cure depression but you can mask it.

For me it was a sense of self worth....my priorities were all fucked up and I was making "getting strong and jacked" my ENTIRE life when I should of been putting women and education first. You need some cash in your wallet to keep a girl around...as well as your health and taking grams of gear aint too smart.... afterall
a man who does not possess kids at some point in his life- biological failure. .

lol you sound like your simply trying to avoid feeling miserable.

my point is one should accept misery as the natural neurological state, trying to deny this is the cause of depression for so many people.

Surviving in the wild means extended periods of misery. The depression starts when one does n`t see the relief from the misery. Your brain is suppose to be cyclical.

how does someone trick someone else out that "default" condition. is it possible?

actually drugs pills alcohol and other addictions (lifting weights, masturbating to porn playing video games, reading, learning, creating etc) ALL serve the purpose to prevent one from getting depressed. The brain is wired in a way that everything we do is based on the principle of addiction, some addictions are just better than others; some people will work their asses off to better their and their offsprings odds of survival, while others will abandon family, smoke pot, flee reality in virtual worlds where they can incarnate a powerful avatar, and so on. Some people will lift weights, other will overfeed themselves... Some will lift weights and take steroids, some will train naturally... Everything we do is "an addiction". Thats why old people keep their brains constantly entertained by tv, by seeing their kids grandkids etc, it stimulate the brain with positive thoughts, life oriented, creating , thoughts. That is why unemployed people get depressed while people who work are focused and dont care about anything else , and despise those who have no serious occupations or hobbies. Doing something, being part of something, makes you feel alive. If you re part of something or doing something, you re useless and have no reason to exist as you serve no function.
