At 46 I can still hit double my BW which is only 340. It impresses the young guys at the gym.

Several times in USPF competition. 419 @198lbs. 451 @220 pounds. 501 @242 pounds. All in competition wearing a wrestling singlet and Hanes Beefy T T-shirt. Remember, we lifted in kilograms as opposed to pounds because at the time Powerlifting was trying to unify meets world wide and everyone except the US uses kilos.  You would request your attempts in kilos and the conversion to pounds was almost always an uneven number.

I have never been able to do it.  Any elite benchers here able?

My best ever was 405 clean no spot at 227 bodyweight.

505 at 198 competing for Army in the 80's.  Wore a single ply shirt.  Don't flat bench any longer but an easy ten with eight plates on hammer incline at age 52.

Fair enough. Call me a disbeliever. I'll let the BP mathematicians work on it. Where's 'The Luke' when we need him?

It doesn't matter if you FORCE it or not, if your 315 max is 2-3, you wouldn't be able to move 370.
225-5
275-5
295-5
315-5 fairly easy
295-5
275-5
my last workout, bench being my first exercise.what do you think my max is??

Done it many times.  It's a good feat if you can do it raw.

Could probably never do it since i suck at bench (shitty long arms)
Had a friend train with me for about a month and within a few weeks he could bench around 10kg over his bodyweight for 12 to 15 reps. Had he stuck with it he probably could have done it within his first year.

I have managed it in a powerlifting comp and come frustratingly close many times.
I think it very much relates to your bio mechanics.  Arm length etc. I was always naturally a good bencher and a crap deadlifter.

I can't do it benching normally, but if I lift my legs in the air and have Arce spot me, I could probably rep it for 50.

If I was going to bench press twice my bodyweight, I should have done it a long time ago. At 68 years, this isn't likely to happen any time soon. My excuse, besides being old is that my arms are 36" long (sleeve length). This is a heck of a long ways to push up that weight when you are only 5'11" tall. I see guys at the gym lifting amazing amounts of weight in the bench press all the time. Invariably, they are stubby little fellows with short arms.

I gave up trying to be the strong man at the gym a long time ago. I am consistent, I don't take 500 trips to the drinking fountain, I don't chew the fat with my friends for 20 minutes between sets. I come to the gym to workout. That's what I do, get in and get it done....boom!

New to the forum. I came across this thread and thought it pretty interesting, lots of responses. I can currently do a 2 x body weight bench press raw. I am 46 and weigh in at 212. My son made a youtube video of me on my last set of benching a while back. I had done a lot of reps at 225 before the 405 single, so my strength was tapped somewhat, not a lot, but enough to make a noticeable difference.

Vid below:
