why don't you do a real show bro

Bro, WBPF is a fairly new bodybuilding organisation. It was formed 3 years ago after the IFBB amateur was split (after Ben Weider's death). My next show after the Asian championships will be the World Championships (Mr. Universe) in November in Melaka, Malaysia. Yes, we are hosting the event this year and i wanna bring glory to my nation. Futhermore, Mr. Universe is a title i wanna get since i first started bodybuilding some 20 years ago. Its always great to be crowned Mr. Universe. Cheers!
I am looking my best at 41 and i will see how much more i can improve before i hang my trunks. For now, i stil have the fire in me to compete doesnt matter WBPF, WBBF, NABBA or the IFBB :D :D

My English is only ok coz still have grammatical errors sometimes. Thanks for your compliment anyway. Well, English is Malaysia's second language after Malay language. It is widely spoken among the younger generation since the govenrment has been emphasizing this language in the past 10 years or so.
I graduated with a M.Sc in Human Nutrition from Colorado State University in the mid 90's. My motto is "Love everyone and stop hating" Cheers   :D :D :D

Are you based in HK or Malaysia?

Where you get the mutation supplements from? Thailand/India?

I started bodybuilding at the age of 19 before i went to school in america in 1990. Well, i am one of the spokesmen for Fusionexcel International, a company that deals with energy pendants, flasks etc. Been with them for the past 3 years. Also, i am with Egonutritions, a retail supplement company from Malaysia (something like GNC).
I am also doing PT (personal training) in KL and in the midst of opening a new gym in a sports complex here in KL. We should be in business in Nov 2011. Cheers! :D :D

I am really amused by some of these comments (no jokes). These come in handy especially at this time of my prep when i am basically living on chicken breasts, brocolli, cauliflower and asparagus. Life is a laugther after all, am i right guys? On the other hand, i also want to thank from the bottom of my heart for all the compliments i received. Its a good moral support for me at this crucial time in my prep. Cheers!  :) :D :)

Wong has that whole Zen inner peace thing going so it's hard to get him to have a meltdown. And what was his motto? Something about love or love everything? LOL. Love.

Anyway, seems like a good guy. LOL @ all those tools that keep asking why his head is so big. Is like asking why you are so tall, why are you bow legged, why you're bald, why you're White, why do you have such narrow clavicles?

Im sure he will tell you its politics and that they are trying to keep the yellow man down ::) well Hide does ok

Truth is he cannot compete in USA due to an immigration violation ::)

So Paul Chua paid him a bunch of $$$ to go to the WBPF and become amateur again and give speeches bad mouthing the IFBB and talking about Asian brotherhood ::) oh brother it dont get more gay ::) then he became head coach of the Indian team or some shit like that ::)

Maybe Wong can post his speech about the evil IFBB trying to divide Asia and how Asians should all stick together give each other the reach around ::)

Thanks. Well, i used to do lots of squats when i first started bodybuilding and probably due to that i have good foundation on my quads. However, nowadays i dont do much of it anymore but lots lots lots of supersets. I just love supersets. ie: I switched to Smith machine squats (after i injured my lower back badly with 2 slipped discs) with one legged leg press, etc, etc, etc. Also tons of walking lunges and glute kicks too. Cheers! :D

Its mostly training and smart usage of supps. Not forgetting nutrition too (eat around the clock with real bodybuilding foods). Definitely NOT genetics as i have posted some pix of my early years in bodybuilding (after 7 years in the sport). Those were in 1996. There is no age limit in bodybuilding bro. Most important is of course decipline and keep on practice, practice and practice. Practice makes perfection or at least close to perfection. Sometimes its how badly we want something that matters. If we want it bad enough we will find a way to get it eventually. Peace!  :D ;) :)

As i have said before (maybe its on another post) , the main reason is Malaysia is hosting the World Championships (Mr.Universe) in Nov this year and i wanna bring glory for my country. The last time we hosted was 11 years ago so if i miss this opportunity i may very well say goodbye to Mr.Universe , a title i am longing for all these years. The one Arnold won i think its under NABBA. A lot of the overall winners from Amateur NABBA bacame IFBB pros. If i am not mistaken , NABBA has its own pro circuit too.
The one i am doing is WBPF. Its another federation. There are so many bodybuilding feds. lol. Yes, IFBB pros can do that show but must serve a grace period of 1 year of no competition according to their rules. Insiders told me they wanna form a pro devision too in the near future but i do not know how true is that. I am only a competitor, bro.   ;)

Will Daniel Toth compete in the WBPF Universe this year? or have you been promised the win?

Sure he will! and some top European bodybuilders too. I am looking forward to rumble with them on stage. Best man wins. Peace brother.  ;)

That's not short at all in your country I'd think.

Saw you in 2003 at the Toronto Pro Show.  Waist was amazing.  I think Darrem Charles won the show and Art Atwood (PIP) won it the previous year or so.  I believe this was your last IFBB contest?  How long did it take you to get home after getting stuck in Canada?

It was 2004 which was won by Darrem. That wasnt my last IFBB contest. Oz pro 2010 in Melbourne was my last. I was in Toronto for half a year.  :)

Are you still an IFBB pro? If so, can you still compete in US? If not, what happened? And why did IFBB not do anything to save your legal status in US so that you can still compete just like what they did to Hide after he got arrested by violating American law?

Bro, i have no clue at all man. All i know is that he knows what he is talking. Its good to have someone like him on G.B. I think we can learn a lot from him and its not important to find out who this guy really is. It may be true that he was one of the top IFBB pros as claimed by him. Again who cares as long as we can benefit from reading his posts. Just my 2 cents.  ;)

I am with WBPF now. AS said before, WBPF is a new federation formed after IFBB amateur was split a few years ago. I am happy with WBPF. Well, i cant go back to the States at the moment (depend on how long the ban is). I violated the immigration law (overstayed). Went for Toronto Pro show and could not get back to the States after that. At that time I didnt think IFBB has the power to influence the government on immigration laws especially after 911 and that was the reason why i didnt try to find help. Its ok for me coz i believe everything happens for a reason.  Honestly, i do not know how Hide could get by with his US law violation. I am happy for him though. Cheers ;)

You're fucking kidding, right?  The IFBB has power and influence to affect Department of Homeland Security issues?

BTW, how is Hide in the US?  Is it an immigration visa, work visa, does he have a greencard?  Does he have a criminal record?  If he's still in the states as a non-resident he probably does not have a record, maybe he wasn't tried.  Or maybe someone high up in DHS really really likes men in thongs.

That's why I'm confused and asking. Hide violated American law, and was arrest right after he stepped out of the airport and got deported. But All of his felony charges were dropped in the court and he only got charged by some light crime. The violation did not even do nothing to damage his legal status to re-enter and stay in the US. He still can compete in the US.

So, who do you think did this for hide?

 ???

It is possible his case was dismissed due to a lack of evidence or some fuckup on LE's part, because if he really was convicted, there is no way for him to stay.  It's doubtful the IFBB has pull, and if they did, they would NEVER use it to help an athlete caught with steroids, it goes against their pattern of behavior.

I did 7 IFBB pro shows altogther before i joined WBPF.

I overstayed on a visitor's visa. Mr. Paul Chua (IFBB vice president for Asia) at that time told the late Mr.Ben Weider about my case when i was stucked in Toronto. Mr. Weider personally wrote for me a letter for the immigration dept but unfortunately it didnt work. All they wanted was my green card or work permit nothing else. So if Ben couldnt even have the capacity to help me, how could Bob?  :-\

about your calf,i saw some of your videos and they arevery good in size/shape but in those pics they looks smaller...

I disagree with that. I brought up my calves and shin quite a bit in last 1- 2 years. Well, 1 " increased is a lot on those cows. They are a lot thicker and the shape is also better too. Maybe the soleus i need to work more on though. Sometimes its hard to compare stills with videos you know what  imean. Best is to compare stills with the same pose my friend  :D :D :D

Bro, i am as curious as you! I am still trying to figure out myself who this man is. Almost certain that he was one of the top of the top pros and hes not American (well, i think everyone knows that too). A double phD in bodybuilding medicine and general knowledge. He is an amazing man that all i can say. Cheers :D :D

Well, for a 5' 9" guy like me i think maximum muscular weight i can put on my frame is around 110kg (240 lbs ). Yeah, 6-7 more kgs  in 2-3 years its what i am shooting for. At 41, thats a challenge. 240 lbs dry is big but most important is the refinement (muscle quality) and proportion is not sacrifized. This is the hardest part in my opinion. :)

I am not pissed coz i know everything happens for a reason. Yeah, i agree with you that if i knew the mutation process earlier when i was IFBB pro i would have done so much better back then. But i also know that i need to be much bigger than 225lbs (perhaps 250-260 for my height) to do damage in the proscene (top 10 Mr.O) and honestly i am not willing to do that coz i know there is a limitation to how much muscle a frame can hold to still look asthetic. Physiques of the 80's and 90's the best. The reason i went to the gym was coz inspired  by those amazing amazing amazing  physiques. Thats just my opinion though as i know there must be a lot who like the freaks too. Nothin' wrong with that.
Well, i wouldnt say pros are selfish. Maybe i didnt approach them enough to seek help.  :)

Bro, 3 days to go as off today. Carb loading tomorrow (Weds) for 48 hours before pre judging. This is always the best phase for me coz i like the feeling of fullness after each carb meal. All good! Its like i am a different person after everymeal. More vascular, deeper cuts and bigger by minutes. Definitely my favorite phase in my 12 weeks prep! Luv it
Energy level still good. I dont think i will over diet coz i am learning more bout my body now. Cheers

P/S: Dont think i have posted a back double bi before.

At that time I didn't think IFBB has the power to influence the government on immigration laws especially after 911 and that was the reason why i didn't try to find help. Its OK for me coz i believe everything happens for a reason. Honestly, i do not know how Hide could get by with his US law violation. I am happy for him though. Cheers ;)

You are doing good thing for your future, IFBB banned till 2013 by world games due to doping violation, and wbpf is a new registered Bodybuilding federation in Londong and not like IFBB which was registered in Montreal - Canada by late  Ben Weider as Corporation,. Till  dated there are 93 affiliated countries and recently Brazil joined the wbpf.

you have a very good physique, and best of luck in Malaka.

BTW, i won the Superheavies (above 100kg) but lost the overall to Kamal Salam from Qatar. It was a close call though. I will meet him again in Mr. Universe in 5 weeks on Nov 12 in Melaka, Malaysia. I cant wait for that! I posted 1 pix from the courtesy of kuwaitbodybuilding.com (overall comparison).  :)

TAKE CARE, AND YOU LOOK VERY GOOD, KAMAL IS BACK TP WBPF, AND RECENTLY PARTICIPATED IN ABBF IN THAILNAD, HE LOOKS GOOD, BUT I WISH BEST OF LUCK TO WIN OVER ALL THIS TIME IN MALACCA.

How strong are you? can you give us a breakdown on the lifts you do and what kind of weight you use while doing them.

Poundages is secondary. Good form is most important you know what i mean the squeeze in each rep especially in back exercises. Also i believe in full range of motion (full extension and contraction) to fully exhaust and work the muscle. Combination of exercises in super sets (my favorite) , stretch in between sets, and rest just enough before hitting the next set in my opinion is essential rather than thinking about how much we can bench or squat. Its how we sculpt our physique . We are not powerlifters. Train as heavy as possible without sacrificing form is what i wanna say. Its a lot safer too my fren.  :D

Well, that was a farewell dinner hosted by Thai Bodybuilding Federation at one of the ballrooms in the official hotel for Mr. Asia. Overall, Mr.Asia was very well organised and kudos to the TBBF and WBPF. They provided great diet food for all competitors, 5 star accomodation and free transportation to and from the contest venue during the 5-day event. Buffet was provided at the farewell dinner and everyone one from different countries had a great time together eating, talking and mixing around. This is why bodybuilding is nation building. There is no boundaries in bodybuilding. I love this wonderful sport!
WBPF is with the Olmpic Council of Asia (OCA) so the after party (farewell dinner) is very different from the ones they have in the IFBB pro circuit. Here we interect with athletes from other countries and exchange souvenirs and ideas, did karoeke, and of course eat eat and eat rather than boozing and getting stoned like what we see in the after parties in the pro circuit.  :'(

that dosnt answer my question. I know bodybuilders can do amazing things with very light weight. but I am just curious what lifts do you do and how much weight do you use and how many reps do you do. I love super sets myself and i think your right its all about getting the target muscle to contract. so if the numbers are small who cares just tell us man? I love lifting light and doing 50-100 reps.

how i feel rather than how much weight i am using for this exercise

Smith MAchine squats all the way down  5 X 8-15 (230,270, 315, 360, 400lbs)
                                             superset

how much was the prize money 500$?
Good question. There is no prize moneyas per say in Mr. Asia and even the Universe coz they are ameteur shows not professional. However, the Malaysian government and i am sure the same applies to some other countries too that pays incentives to reward their athletes at the Asian and world level competitions ie badminton, bowling, bodybuilding, weightlifitng etc etc etc. In Malaysia, we get USD 6,000 for bringing home a gold medal at any Asian level competition and 10k for world level ie Mr.Universe. As you can see, 10k is equivalent to some of the small IFBB pro shows that are offering to the champion. Countries like Qatar and UAE offers a lot more than that for similar competitions particularly in the Asian Games. Thats one of the main reasons why some really good Asian bodybuilders refused to turn pro in the IFBB coz they are getting so much incentives from the government for bringing glory to their nation. Can earn more dough and live healthier too  haha why not?!
Back to WBPF, there will be some good shows coming up with pretty good prize money in next few months. Asian Pro-Am Classic is happening on Nov 14 in Singapore (2 days after the Universe) and the prize money i heard is good. Then the Qatar Classic in the first week of Jan 2012 champion gets USD 20k and Jakarta (Indonesis a Open) on 25 Jan 2012 offering USD 6 or 7 grand to the winner. As WBPF grows i am sure we will see more shows with more prize money in the near future! Its all good.  8)

Good job Wong. How has your win changed your life for the better?

Thanks bro. Well, my life hasnt changed at all after my win at the Asian. I won it once before in 1999 before i went to the States and got my IFBB pro card there. So this victory is not that special to me. What i am aiming for is the overall at the Universe in 5 weeks and hence become the first ever Malaysian to do so in bodybuilding. That will be something i will cherish for a long time. If not this year, I wil try to achieve that before i retire maybe at 45.
BAck to you question, i guess i got a bit more famous on getbig after my win at the Asian. lol ;D  Locally probably more people in the general public will know me coz of the press. Local press dont write much bout pro bodybuilding scene. As i said life still the same , today back to strict diet and intensive training. yiak! Life would have been a huge difference if i had won American Idol or got a role in a big budget movie in Hollywood.  lol But again life is like a box of chocolate, you never know what you will get. Famous quote from the famous Mr Hank in Forest Gump. It was an awesome movie!!  :D :D :D

China and Hong Kong China sent a huge team to the Asian so i am sure that bodybuilding is pretty big there. Of course they do compete in WBPF competitions, SEA (South East Asia) , Asia and World contests. If i am not wrong, China got a gold in the welterweight in men's bodybuilding and a few medals in the athletic physique and women bodybuilding/ fitness model physique.  :D

He is almost 80 and still have the energy to run such a huge bodybuilding event. Its unbelievable and we can see how much this man loves this sport. Total respect to him.

Yup, Baba Madhok (Bob) and a handful of others are the ones keeping bodybuilding alive in India. But i can really see the potential of this sport to make it huge in a country of more than a billion population  :D

The guy on my right is from Iran in Heavyweight and . Third guy is lightheavy winner from Qatar.  ;)  This years Mr.Asia was highly competitive. 32 countires participated and most of the athletes were in shape. In the past 10 years, Bodybuilding in Asia has really improved tremendously.

WEIBK, thanks man. Yup, Datuk Gan the president of Malaysian Bodybuilding Federation has done so much for bodybuilding in Malaysia for the past 3 decades or so. He is almost 80 and still have the energy to run such a huge bodybuilding event. Its unbelievable and we can see how much this man loves this sport. Total respect to him.
Malaysia has a strong team with Sazali Samad in the light weight (multiple Asian and Universe titles) and a few more new comers. Should be a great show and i cant wait to be on stage again  :D

I SAID THE TRUTH ONLY, AND I KNOW DATUK GAN AND HIS WIFE FOR MORE THAN 20 YEARS, THEY ARE CLOSED FRIENDS, AND I AM COMING TO MALACCA, AND LOOKING FORWARD TO SEE YOU ON STAGE WITH OVERALL WINNER TROPHY. BEST OF LUCK.

Whatever i do for the last 2 years is all geared up for this title. The competition is going to be very tough in Melaka but i am confident that i am one step ahead of them! Will come in even better than in Bangkok. Cheers

Hey Jude2, i tried Pro tan at the Oz Pro '10 and was ok. The problem is there was so many coats to put (like 3-4 including the final coat right before going on stage). I think its more suitable for people with fair skin as i have dark natural complexion from regular sun tanning. With Dreamtan its so easy , all i need is one application before pump up and i am all ready. I posted 2 photos just for comparison sake. Thanks for your input anyway. FYI, not many people use Pro Tan in this part of the world.

You have deeper seperation in the top pic. Jan tana works well for some.  If you are going to use dream tan apply it after your last shower the night before the show and wear baggie clothes to bed. Then in the morning re apply the dream tan. It comes out much better like this, not so thick.

Agreed regarding 2 layers of dream tan. I looked better color wise in the finals after 1 coat for pre judging and 1 coat again before finals. Thanks bro! Will surely follow your advise. Makes lots of sense. Never thought of that. Hey , i am still learning...!  ;)

WEIBK, this is the hardest i have prepared for a competition in my entire life. I train, eat, and sleep thinking about the day of the contest. My class (superheavy) is on Nov 12. twenty nine days and counting. I will be ready! BTW, yes Malaysia always play superb host in sport events. This is the third time Malaysia play host to MR. So u think he looks better in the bottom pic than top with the pro tan. If dream tan was the best then all the pros would be using it. Only some of the guys out of the States use it. and all the judges hate it. If you want to do well in the real shows don't use dream tan. If you disagree with this name one guy who uses it and does well here.

They say it takes away from the BB conditioning. I can live with it when I judge shows, but I can tell u what alot of the judges say and they dislike it. Listen to any of the play by play for a pro show and see what they say. I listen to all of them. I am talking about the USA mainly, not some of the other countries where dream tan is the only thing they use.

yes I do

here in canada everybody use dreamtan and when they don't they look too light next to everybody and it costs them a placing usually

I know it's not the case in the USA but in other country everybody use it.
You look like you have no tan if you wear protan and everybody else is all shiny and dark

I didnt know Canadians are big on Dreamtan too huh? Both Dreamtan and Pro tan are great products actually. Its just a personal choice you  know.
I think most important is to apply color just enough to make you 'shine'. When you 'shine' the judges will automatically pay attention to you more (provided if you are in tip top condition of course lol). A physique cannot look dull on stage. The amount and timing is of importance here and this takes skills. We dont wanna all 12 weeks of prep to go down in drain just coz of wrong application of  color. Just my 2 cents.  ;)

Yo! Of course we will hang out again. Hopefully not too close to the Qatar Classic happening in first week of Jan 2012 though. I am doing that for sure coz i wanna see how i will fare among the Arab great bodybuilders. FYI, they are world class athletes. My prep for the World's is great. 3 and a half more weeks to the D-Day. Thanks bro. Believe it or not my quads used to be my weak bodypart long time ago but thru' training , determination, and patience, now they have become my best bodypart. Regarding my Chinese name, i do not know how to type chinese character on PC :-[  I can give you the meaning though. Wong means yellow in chinese and Hong means hero in Chinese. Lots of muscle for being in your 40's.

I weighed 102kg (225lbs) there. I came in 5 kg more than my last show the Oz Pro in March 2010 (18 mths ago). Bigger, fuller and more condition too this time. At 41, even i am suprised how i could bring my physique to another level. Mutation baby :)

Cheers :)

My new gym will be in Old Klang Road not far from Cheras. We are opening on Dec 1.

we will back in KL on the 14th dec, looking forward to seeing the new gym, and also revisit Ultimate Gym !

Did a photoshoot 1 day after the WBPF Asian Bodybuilding Championships in Bangkok. Just got the pics today from the photograher Yen from China. Thought of sharing with you guys ;)

Simply amazing. Good structure, proportions and symmetry. Legs are incredible and so are those thick and full triceps. Should be a Mr. Olympia contender. 8)

P/S: I am not sure if i am an Olympia contender yet but i am confident that i am good enough to be atleast competing in the Big O. But too bad, i am 100% with WBPF now (World Bodybuilding and Physique Sports Federation).

Bro, you should get someone to video all your comps from the last Asia in Bkk to the ones you are gonna do in the coming months. Document them all, later compile it into a dvd along with your training and lifestyle clips and sell them. I guarantee many will want to buy them!  ;)

Hmmmmm thats a great idea bro. I think i know who to approach for the video for last Asia in Bangkok and will surely do video clips for my prep and the Worlds and a few more shows in the coming months. Must find someone who is a pro in this though. I wanna the video to be good quality if its for sales. You know what i mean.  hehe ;D

As a matter if fact, i am. Finally bearing  fruits from my hard labor. lol   Now, i wil just cruise for the next show since i am already in shape since the Asian 2 weeks ago. Next is the Universe (World Championships) on Nov 12, then Pro Am Classic in Singapore on Nov 16, Qatar Classic first week of Jan 2012 and finally the Indonesian Open in Jakarta on Jan 25. Its not going to be easy to remain in tip top condition for so long but i think i can do it! Always think POSITIVE! ;)

Well, i dont come here to be respected. I am just another bodybuilder out there who loves bodybuilding like many blokes on this board. But I agree with you that since you created that thread i am getting so much less destructive/negative criticism. lol Have to thank you for that and the compliments of course ;D

Sure bro. I will give you my back workout routine. I work my back twice a week coz its a large muscle group so i need 2 training sessions to fully hit all areas of my back.

Back 1 (thickness)

Chin ups 3 X as many as possible
Reverse grip pulldown 4 x 8-10
One arm dumbell rows  4 X 8-10
T bar row    4 x 8-10
Barbell Rows    4 X 8-10
Seated Low Rows  4 x 8-10
Deadlifts  4 X 8-10

Back 2 (detail)

Chin ups 3 X as many as possible
Front Pulldown   3 X 12-15
Behind Neck Pulldown   3 X 12-15
V handle parallel close grip pulldown  3 X 12-15
Hammer Stength High Pull (one arm at a time)  3 X 12-15
Hammer Strength Low Row (One arm at a time)  3 X 12-15
Barbell Back Rows (Barbell behind the butt) Lee Haney's favorite  3 X 12-15  super set with
Standing cable reverse fllyes  3 12-15
SeatedLow Rows (ellevated, sitting on a dumbell) 3 X 15  superset with
Back extension with 45 lbs dumbells  3 X 12

The gyms in Kuala Lumpur (capital city of MAlaysia) are ok. We have many big gyms here but most of them are catered for fitness rather than hardcore bodybuilders. However, there are always some hard core equpment in many of thse gyms like Hammer Strength and Cybex. I could still get a thorough workout but have to travel to different gyms ie back in gymA, chest in gym B etc atc. Other words there is no one gym that provide all the equipment that a high level competitive bodybuilder needs. As i said, i miss training at Gold's and Powerhouse gyms in NYC and LA. Some of them are warehouse- turn gym and have everything under 1 roof. You guys are so lucky! :D

What doesnt kill me makes me stronger. Dont forget i have 2 slipped discs too on my lower back. We just have to believe in ourselves. Nothing can stop us if our will power is strong. Its all in the mind. Its very powerful bro. Look at Dorian with his torn bis and Ronnie multiple torn all over his body in his last year of the Big O.  ;)
