Advice to a solid conservative which I know you are: you guys really can win in the next elections (President, House, possibly Senate). Momentum will go your way just because the pendulum swings and because we Democrats are carrying a fair amount of baggage, I am sure you can feel that momentum building. But stay away from the Kari Lakes no matter how much you feel pulled in that direction. Look at where suburban Phoenix voters went (by the margins) several months ago, and I bet they held their noses as they pulled the lever for Hobbs. They will do it again if they perceive the candidates as “weird”/ “extreme”, “too mean”, however you want to frame it.

Failed Republican political candidate and former TV news reader Kari Lake wants – perhaps even expects – the Good Lord to do what the voters of Arizona would not do: Make her governor.
The latest prank in Lake’s ongoing Christian nationalist post-election publicity tour is what she described as a “prayer event” at a Mesa church Tuesday where, in a tweet, Lake said it was time to “pray together for the Supreme Court & praise God with great expectations!”
Expectations?
Lake has lost each of her many court challenges to the November 2022 election in which she was defeated by Gov. Katie Hobbs by 17,000 votes.

Most recently, her arguments before the Arizona appeals court were described by a judge as “quite simply, sheer speculation.”
The ruling against her also said, “Lake’s arguments highlight election day difficulties, but her request for relief fails because the evidence presented to the superior court ultimately supports the court’s conclusion that voters were able to cast their ballots, that votes were counted correctly, and that no other basis justifies setting aside the election results.”
A campaign that's more theatrical than theological
Not too long after that Lake took her case to the Arizona Supreme Court, tweeting, “Pray for our Attorneys. Pray for the Judges. Pray for Justice. Pray for America.”
I am not an expert in the ways of the Almighty, but it seems likely that her prayers already have been answered. Just not with the reply she’d hoped to receive.
Lake has been playing the Christian (small “c”) nationalist (capital “N”) card almost from the beginning of her campaign, a strategy that has seemed from the beginning to be more about praying for donations than for divine election intervention.
Along the way it has included a number of episodes that seem far more theatrical than theological.
Like when a group of evangelical supporters laid hands on and anointed Lake at an event in Scottsdale.
The walls of the elections center didn't tumble down
Or when she compared MAGA Republicans to Jesus and said God would help her and her supporters “take back our country and save this republic.”
Or after the election, when her followers marched around Maricopa County’s election center seven times while blowing horns, expecting the walls to come tumbling down as in the Bible story of the battle of Jericho.
Along the way Lake has described President Joe Biden and Democrats not as political opponents but as “demonic.”
The far-right Pentecostal website Charisma News published an article about Lake under the headline: “Is God Raising Up Kari Lake as a New Breed of Prophetic Politician?” The story said Lake “doesn't just speak; she prophesies in almost everything she says.”
Noting a position for which Lake seems qualified
Except, so far, in regards to that whole reversing the election thing.
A while back an organization called Faithful America, a group of Christians who say they are speaking out against Christian nationalist politicians who have “hijacked” Jesus' message and “distort the Gospel for their agenda of hatred, power, and division.”
Kari Lake made the group’s list of “false prophets.”
Unlike Arizona governor, it is a position for which she appears to have the qualifications.

AZ Supreme Court rejects most of Kari Lake's election challenge
Arizona's top court has declined to hear Republican gubernatorial candidate Kari Lake's challenge to her election loss, but kept the case alive by sending one of Lake's claims back to a county judge to review.
Lake asked the Arizona Supreme Court to consider her case after a Maricopa County judge and state appeals court rejected her claims that she was the rightful governor, or that a new election should take place.
The former television news anchor made seven legal claims in her case, six of which the state's top court said were properly dismissed by lower courts, according to an opinion released Wednesday written by Chief Justice Robert Brutinel.
The opinion said Lake's challenges were "insufficient to warrant the requested relief under Arizona or federal law."
But a sixth legal claim, which has to do with Lake's allegation that Maricopa County had insufficient ballot signature verification processes, must receive another review by a county judge, the opinion reads. Prior courts were wrong to dismiss Lake's claim on grounds she waited too long to file them, the Supreme Court said.
The court's order says Maricopa County Superior Court Judge Peter Thompson must evaluate that single element of Lake's case again to determine if the claim was properly dismissed previously, or if Lake can prove “votes [were] affected ‘in sufficient numbers to alter the outcome of the election’” based on a “competent mathematical basis to conclude that the outcome would plausibly have been different, not simply an untethered assertion of uncertainty.”

Failed Arizona GOP gubernatorial candidate Kari Lake on Wednesday risked the wrath of the estate of late rocker Tom Petty. Again.
A tweet from the former TV news anchor’s campaign account quoted four lines from Petty’s 1989 anthem “I Won’t Back Down.”
It came as the Arizona Supreme Court declined to hear most of Lake’s challenge of her 2022 defeat — by some 17,000 votes — to Democrat Katie Hobbs. Lake has still refused to concede the race.
“The Tom Petty estate and our partners were shocked to find out that Tom’s song ‘I Won’t Back Down’ was stolen and used without permission or a license to promote Kari Lake’s failed campaign,” tweeted the estate of Petty, who died in 2017 from an accidental drug overdose.
“This is illegal,” it added at the time. “We are exploring all of our legal options to stop this unauthorized use and to prohibit future misappropriations of Tom’s beloved anthem. Thank you to all of the fans who brought this to our attention and who help us protect his legacy every day.”

Olsen also concluded that AT LEAST 70,000 mail-in ballots were not properly verified in accordance with Arizona law, and therefore the election must be set aside. The bogus election was called by roughly 17,000 votes.
The Gateway Pundit reported on days one, two, and three of the bombshell trial exposing corruption in Maricopa County’s early voting system.
Maricopa County signature reviewer Jacqueline Onigkeit testified that she saw a large number of signatures on ballot affidavits that were different names than the voter and that many other level-one signature reviewers “didn’t feel comfortable with what they were seeing.”
“ballots were sent back to level one reviewers by direct supervisors and full-time County employees” because they were too “overwhelmed” by the number of rejections, said Onikgeit.
Damning evidence of at least one Maricopa County signature reviewer simply clicking through signature checks in less than two seconds each was also presented by Lake’s attorneys.
The Gateway Pundit later reported on another video showing a Maricopa County employee failing to verify signatures and likely approving over 5,600 signatures in about two hours.
Maricopa County Election Director Rey Valenzuela testified that this individual was “removed from the process.” However, the evidence proves that he was not.
According to the testimony by Jacqueline Onigkeit, signature reviewers “were told to scroll down and make sure that we verify the present green affidavit with the past history affidavits.”
It would be impossible to truly compare two signatures in this short amount of time without fraud. See examples of the fraudulent signatures previously accepted by Maricopa County here.
Despite the evidence, Maricopa County attorneys and the Judge disregarded the employees who did not follow the law. Instead, they claimed the testimony of Lake’s witnesses — signature verification workers who chose to follow the law — proved that the mail-in ballot system is secure.
Judge Thompson opines, “Ms. Onigkeit’s testimony makes abundantly clear that level one and level two signature review did take place in some fashion.”
Kari Lake is expected to appeal this ruling again all the way to the Arizona Supreme Court.

Former Republican candidate for governor Kari Lake on Tuesday pledged to appeal her latest courtroom loss in her effort to unseat Democratic Gov. Katie Hobbs.
"We're also going to continue to, not only raise funds, but energy, for our legal team to continue pushing our case to the United States Supreme Court," Lake said in a news conference outside her campaign headquarters that pivoted between grievances over 2022, looking forward to 2024, and taking on reporters in Lake's characteristic combative style.
On Monday, Maricopa County Superior Court Judge Peter Thompson handed Lake another defeat in her six-month effort to set aside the November election result. Lake, a former television news anchor, lost the Governor's Office to Hobbs by 17,117 votes, less than 1 percentage point.
Lake has had an unusual two trials in her election challenge, both of which she lost after she was unable to present evidence to back up her claims of official misconduct and faulty procedures.
Last week, her legal team argued in a three-day trial that Maricopa County election workers verified signatures on ballot envelopes in a matter of seconds, too quickly to pass muster as signature verification as required by law. But even Lake's own witnesses testified that signature verification was taking place, and Thompson late Monday affirmed Hobbs' win in a ruling that says nothing in the law requires a certain amount of time be spent to compare signatures.
Thompson went further, writing in his ruling that the county had proved at trial that "a comparison between voter records and signatures was conducted in every instance" over which Lake raised concern.
Lake makes false claims about case at news conference
In her news conference, Lake repeatedly made false claims that contradicted Thompson's latest ruling and that were not substantiated by two other courts — the state Court of Appeals and Arizona Supreme Court — that have considered the case. She called Hobbs a "fraud who is sitting in the Governor's Office" and alleged "criminals and crooks" operate elections.
“The courts just ruled that this corrupt election will stand," Lake said. "The courts just ruled that our elections can run lawlessly. The courts have ruled that anything goes. Well, we can play by those same rules.”
She also announced Tuesday a vague plan to register voters and "chase ballots," signaling a shift in her focus as her appeals continue to unfold. The former candidate said she would spend millions of dollars on that effort through her Save Arizona Fund. What her own political future holds is uncertain, and Lake repeated on Tuesday she was considering a run for U.S. Senate next year.
"I haven’t made up my mind on that," she told reporters.
Lake ran a campaign for the state's top office last year having no experience in politics, but buoyed by decades of on-camera experience that made her a known quantity for many Arizona voters. Lawyers for Maricopa County have asked a judge to issue sanctions against former gubernatorial candidate Kari Lake and her legal team for their "heinous and profoundly harmful" claims that the November 2022 election was "rigged."
In a request late Tuesday, deputy county attorneys laid out five "material misrepresentations of fact" made by Lake and her lawyers leading up to and during a three-day trial last week. The attorneys asked the judge to order Lake and her attorneys to pay a fine, although they leave the amount up to the court to determine.
Maricopa County Superior Court Judge Peter Thompson on Monday affirmed Democratic Gov. Katie Hobbs' win in November and rejected Lake's claims that improper signature verification and misconduct affected the outcome.
If Thompson agrees to order sanctions, his would be the second court to do so in Lake's six-month legal effort to overturn her loss to Hobbs.
Earlier this month, the Arizona Supreme Court sanctioned and fined Lake's lawyers $2,000 for repeatedly making "unequivocally false" statements in court. Thompson has once before declined to sanction Lake's lawyers, following her first trial in December, though he did order Lake to pay $33,000 to cover the costs of Hobbs' expert witnesses.
According to the latest sanctions request, Lake's legal team — Bryan Blehm of Scottsdale and Kurt Olsen of Washington, D.C. — continued making false claims even after the Supreme Court admonishment.
The other defendants Lake named in her case, Hobbs and Secretary of State Adrian Fontes, joined in the county's motion in support of sanctions. Together, they contend Lake and her lawyers:
Misrepresented the findings of an independent investigation of printer problems that plagued Maricopa County on Election Day.
Misstated prior testimony of Director of Elections Scott Jarrett and claimed he lied in court, an allegation that already had been found meritless by three courts.
"Presented uncertainty as certainty" in claiming 8,000 ballots were improperly rejected from the count, which the court previously had said was not supported by evidence.
Pushed forward with a "frivolous" claim that Maricopa County did not do signature verification on early ballots, when Lake's own witnesses testified last week they were part of the process
"Engaged in a blatant effort to deceive" the judge by claiming the election was "rigged," without even attempting to back up the claim with any evidence at trial or questions to witnesses.

In a three-page response on Wednesday, Blehm argued the county's motion for sanctions should be dismissed because it was outside the scope of Thompson's ruling, which allowed the county to seek costs by the end of the day on Tuesday. Thompson in turn gave Lake's team until Thursday to respond to the sanctions request.
Sanctions are a court-ordered deterrent for bad or unethical behavior; they can include financial penalties and serve as a form of public reprimand against attorneys.
Lake, the former television news anchor turned first-time candidate in 2022, has pledged to appeal her latest loss in the case. On Tuesday, hours before the county sought sanctions for her team's false claims in court, Lake echoed them in a news conference pledging to appeal to the U.S. Supreme Court and flirting with a run for U.S. Senate in 2024.
She announced an effort to register voters and chase mail-in ballots, though provided few details of those efforts, and she referenced her prior attacks on mail-in ballots, which she has falsely claimed were used to "steal our vote" in the 2020 election.
"While you know how I feel about mail-in ballots, if this is the game we have to play, if we got to work in their rigged system, we'll work in their rigged system," Lake told reporters on Tuesday.

A top Republican election official in Arizona filed a defamation lawsuit Thursday against Kari Lake, who falsely claims she lost the 2022 race for governor because of fraud.
Maricopa County Recorder Stephen Richer said he's faced “violent vitriol and other dire consequences” because of lies spread by Lake, including death threats and the loss of friendships.
“Rather than accept political defeat, rather than get a new job, she has sought to undermine confidence in our elections and has mobilized millions of her followers against me,” Richer wrote in an op-ed in The Arizona Republic.
Lake is a former Phoenix television news anchor who quickly built an enthusiastic political following as a loyal supporter of former President Donald Trump and his lie that the 2020 election was stolen from him. She went on to narrowly lose her own race for Arizona governor last year along with a lawsuit challenging the results.

Turns out judges don’t much like to see the court system used as a campaign prop.
Attorneys should take note of this.
You may recall that Lake and Finchem — with financial backing from MyPillow CEO Mike Lindell — filed suit in April 2022 while they were running for governor and secretary of state.
Their lawsuit asked a judge to bar the machine tabulation of votes in the 2022 election and require that paper ballots be used instead. They claimed that Arizona vote-counting machines produced inaccurate results and that there were no paper ballots to verify the machine count.
Never mind, apparently, the fact that they had no evidence to back up their claims.
Or that Arizona not only already uses paper ballots but state law requires a hand count of a random sample of those ballots, to verify the machine count is accurate.
Appeal moves to Tucson: And Kari Lake smells a conspiracy
But then, their lawsuit wasn’t a serious attempt to remedy a real problem. It was yet another campaign stunt, employed to make baseless claims about supposedly stolen elections.
To his credit, U.S. District Court John J. Tuchi called them on it.
Last August, he threw out their lawsuit, noting that the pair provided no evidence that machine counting produces inaccurate results and no proof that a hand count of ballots would be more accurate.
In December, he followed up by granting Maricopa County’s request for sanctions against the lawyers for bringing a “frivolous” lawsuit that “baselessly kicked up a cloud of dust.”
“In sum,” Tuchi wrote, “Plaintiffs lacked an adequate factual or legal basis to support the wide ranging constitutional claims they raised or the extraordinary relief they requested. Plaintiffs filled the gaps between their factual assertions, claimed injuries, and requested relief with false, misleading, and speculative allegations.”
And on Friday, he socked attorneys Kurt Olsen, Andrew Parker and Alan Dershowitz with the county’s $122K bill, though Dershowitz is liable for just 10% of the tab.
Dershowitz, one of the nation’s pre-eminent constitutional law experts, tried to wiggle out of any responsibility by minimizing his involvement, but the judge wasn't having it.
“Attorneys must be reminded that their duties are not qualified in the way he suggests and that courts are entitled to rely on their signatures as certifications their filings are well-founded,” Tuchi wrote.
Turns out judges don’t like it when attorneys throw in with their clients to bring false, misleading and speculative allegations.
Now, they’re on notice that there’s a price to be paid for doing that.

You may recall that Lake and Finchem — with financial backing from MyPillow CEO Mike Lindell — filed suit in April 2022 while they were running for governor and secretary of state.
Their lawsuit asked a judge to bar the machine tabulation of votes in the 2022 election and require that paper ballots be used instead. They claimed that Arizona vote-counting machines produced inaccurate results and that there were no paper ballots to verify the machine count.
Never mind, apparently, the fact that they had no evidence to back up their claims.
Or that Arizona not only already uses paper ballots but state law requires a hand count of a random sample of those ballots, to verify the machine count is accurate.
Appeal moves to Tucson: And Kari Lake smells a conspiracy
But then, their lawsuit wasn’t a serious attempt to remedy a real problem. It was yet another campaign stunt, employed to make baseless claims about supposedly stolen elections.
To his credit, U.S. District Court John J. Tuchi called them on it.
Last August, he threw out their lawsuit, noting that the pair provided no evidence that machine counting produces inaccurate results and no proof that a hand count of ballots would be more accurate.
In December, he followed up by granting Maricopa County’s request for sanctions against the lawyers for bringing a “frivolous” lawsuit that “baselessly kicked up a cloud of dust.”
“In sum,” Tuchi wrote, “Plaintiffs lacked an adequate factual or legal basis to support the wide ranging constitutional claims they raised or the extraordinary relief they requested. Plaintiffs filled the gaps between their factual assertions, claimed injuries, and requested relief with false, misleading, and speculative allegations.”
And on Friday, he socked attorneys Kurt Olsen, Andrew Parker and Alan Dershowitz with the county’s $122K bill, though Dershowitz is liable for just 10% of the tab.
Dershowitz, one of the nation’s pre-eminent constitutional law experts, tried to wiggle out of any responsibility by minimizing his involvement, but the judge wasn't having it.
“Attorneys must be reminded that their duties are not qualified in the way he suggests and that courts are entitled to rely on their signatures as certifications their filings are well-founded,” Tuchi wrote.
Turns out judges don’t like it when attorneys throw in with their clients to bring false, misleading and speculative allegations.
Now, they’re on notice that there’s a price to be paid for doing that.

As Kari Lake travels the country, ranting about stolen elections and teasing a Senate run and such, she might want to pay a bit of attention to the home front.
A new poll shows that the majority of the state’s voters just plain don’t like her.
A whopping 51% Arizona voters surveyed had an unfavorable opinion of the self-proclaimed “mama bear,” according to the latest numbers from the nonpartisan Noble Predictive Insights.
Just 35% said they had a favorable view of Lake, who is still contesting her loss in last year’s governor’s race.
The opt-in online poll of 1,000 Arizona voters was conducted July 13-17. It has a margin of error of 3.10%.
Lake didn’t do any better among the independents who are now the state’s largest bloc of voters. The poll shows only 30% of independents like Lake while 51% percent do not.

To the absolute shock and amazement of no one, not so much a single presidential candidate heeded Lake’s call to give way for a man who stands charged with 78 crimes, though Vivek Ramaswamy did vow to pardon Trump if elected.

Former South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley took a pass, saying “I’m tired of commenting on every Trump drama.”

Ignored in her Tuesday effort to clear the way for Trump’s triumphant return, by Thursday Lake offered a new plan — one that would actually disqualify Trump from the race that just three days ago she said should be his and his alone to run.
Now she wants to decertify the 2020 election. (Cue the cringe of every Republican strategist focused on finding a winning campaign message for 2024.)
“He won in 2016. He won even bigger in 2020,” Lake told Steve Bannon’s War Room podcast on Thursday. “All that January 6th was, was a staged riot to cover up the fact that they certified a fraudulent election … .
“If we just go back and deal with this fraudulent election and what happened in 2020, we don’t have to impeach him (Biden) because he really isn’t, in my opinion and many others who look at the evidence, he really isn’t the the true president. Why don’t we decertify 2020?”

Maricopa County Superior Court Judge John Hannah said the voters’ right to privacy, freedom from harassment and fear of identity theft outweighs Lake’s right to continue her yearlong temper tantrum. (My words, not the judge’s.)
The judge’s 12-page ruling was brutal, noting that Lake, who lost her trial(s) to overturn the election, can’t keep inventing new claims as she searches for her fairy tale ending.
“Ms. Lake regards the electoral process much like the villagers in the famous fable regarded the goose that laid the golden egg, except that her goose failed to lay the egg she expected,” he wrote.
“She insists that something must have gone wrong. If only she could cut open the electoral process and examine each of its 1.3 million pieces, she says, she would be able to figure out what happened and show that the prize has been there waiting for her all along.”
Well, ouch.
Kari Lake is now 0-3 in her ongoing, never-ending efforts to try to prove that she was robbed of the Governor’s Office.
Naturally, the America First crowd is screaming, as it always does, that the fix was in.

Her attorneys insisted there is no privacy interest because people’s signatures and addresses are listed on other public documents.
But the judge disagreed, saying that the records — which contain not only the voters’ signatures but their names, addresses and phone numbers — are shielded by state law to protect voters’ privacy.
And besides that, it’s too late, he says, to bring new claims. (Thus, the golden egg analogy.)
“The broad right of electoral participation outweighs the narrow interests of those who would continue to pick at the machinery of democracy,” Hannah said, in what clearly will not be the last word on the 2022 election.

A Maricopa County judge ruled Wednesday that a defamation case against former gubernatorial and current U.S. Senate candidate Kari Lake will go forward.
Judge Jay Adleman determined that Lake failed to provide enough evidence to get the case dismissed outright under a recently revised state law intending to deter lawsuits that seek to censor or intimidate critics.
"The court is satisfied that the disputed statements — if indeed they are 'provable' as false or defamatory — would be undeserving of the protections associated with our First Amendment principles," Adleman wrote.
The lawsuit, filed in June by Maricopa County Recorder Stephen Richer, accuses Lake and her affiliates of spreading false information about Richer following the November 2022 election. He alleges that Lake knew, or should have known, the statements were false.
But Lake says Richer is seeking to silence her and other election integrity critics. She condemned his defamation suit against her while appearing at Turning Point USA's annual "AmericaFest" conference in Phoenix on Sunday.
Her attorneys filed two motions to dismiss the defamation case. Attorney Jen Wright argued in court on Tuesday on behalf of one motion. She said Lake's statements, while exaggerated, are ultimately based on "provable facts" and that Richer is subject to "harsh criticism" as a public official.
Less than 24 hours later, Adleman rejected that argument. He wrote Lake's statements are "provably false" and that Richer's lawsuit included "well pled facts."

Rack up yet another loss for Kari Lake.
This time, it’s the Arizona Court of Appeals, which on Wednesday declined Lake’s plea that she shouldn’t be held accountable for what comes out of her mouth.
Lake appealed to the court on Friday, asking the three-judge panel to overrule a trial judge’s refusal to throw out Maricopa County Stephen Richer’s defamation lawsuit against her.
It took only five days for the Court of Appeals to say no.
So, the case will go forward to trial.
Isn't a trial good for Kari Lake?
I, for one, would think Lake would be happy.
For one thing, she can continue raising money from the MAGA Nation as she rails on about her First Amendment right to accuse Richer of criminal activity.
For another, she now will have the opportunity to prove her oft-repeated claim that he intentionally sabotaged the 2022 election.
Isn’t that a good thing if you are Kari Lake?
For more than a year, Lake has lambasted Maricopa County elections workers and officials and Richer in particular, detailing the many ways in which this lifelong Republican plotted to steal the election from her, the Republican nominee for governor.
The only thing she hasn’t offered up is any actual proof. Thus, her lengthy streak of losses in every court she has thus far approached a court with her incendiary claims.
In June, Richer — fed up finally with the harassment and the death threats to him and his family — called her on it, suing Lake for defamation.
Judge nixed 'rhetorical hyperbole' claim
Rather than demanding a quick trial so that she can “out” this supposedly dirty public official, Lake has asked — twice now — that the lawsuit be dismissed.
She claims Richer has no right to try to hold her accountable, no matter how many death threats he and his family must endure.
Maricopa County Superior Court Judge Jay Adleman disagreed. Last month, he rejected her lawyers’ claim that her accusations of intentional sabotage weren’t really claims of intentional sabotage but “mere rhetorical hyperbole.”
The judge didn’t buy it, pointing out that her specific claims of criminal activity are either provable — or not.
The judge also rejected her claim that the lawsuit is just a sleazy, illegal attempt by a politician to silence his critics.
“The court is satisfied that the disputed statements — if indeed they are ‘provable’ as false or defamatory — would be undeserving of the protections associated with our First Amendment principles,” Adleman wrote.
Kari Lake dug this hole herself
In fact, he found that Richer may also have the goods to prove “actual malice,” which is another way of saying Kari Lake is in deep, deep trouble.
Maybe not Rudy Giuliani deep — Giuliani was recently hit with a $148 million jury verdict after a judge found he defamed a pair of Georgia poll workers — but a hole nonetheless.
One that she dug with her own mouth.
Of course, Lake doesn’t see it that way. She casts herself as the courageous victim, standing up to the forces of evil that conspire to silence her and rob her of a spot in the U.S. Senate.
“@StephenRicher is suing me for defamation through a Soros-backed group called Project Democracy. It’s an in-kind donation to @RubenGallego. But it’s bigger than that,” she wrote on social media in response to Wednesday’s ruling. “They’re trying to take away our protected political speech so nobody running for office will be able to speak out and criticize elected officials.
“They’re trying to criminalize honest journalism and our freedom of the press. They’re trying to prevent moms and dads from going to school board meetings and criticizing their representatives. If this is successful, it will be the death of our First Amendment. People need to care and pay attention to this.”
Now, she can prove her claims in court
So, America won’t be America anymore because Kari Lake is being asked to back up her accusation that Stephen Richer committed crimes in order to fix the 2022 election?

When it comes to Kari Lake’s debunked theory of widespread election fraud in her 2022 Arizona gubernatorial race, she’s not even sure “who exactly stole the election,” she admitted Monday.
During an interview on Arizona’s KTAR News 92.3 FM, Lake’s false claims were challenged by the station’s legal analyst, Barry Markson.
“My question is, as you’ve been saying for three years, or for two years: can you tell us who stole the election from you and how they did it, and if you can’t or you don’t want to, that’s OK, but I want to make sure the question is there in front of you,” Markso said.
A post-election lawsuit from Lake alleging election fraud was rejected in December 2022, with an Arizona court ruling that there was no “clear and convincing evidence” the race outcome was affected by fraud. Lake’s additional legal losses extended through late last year. But that hasn’t seemed to deter her.
“I don’t know who exactly stole the election,” Lake said, “but there are a lot of people who are running elections poorly, and we’ve seen the result.”
A candidate for Senate in Arizona this year, Lake added: “The elections are run poorly. They’re run very poorly, and I don’t know who exactly.”
At another point in the interview, Lake tried to explain critical comments she made in 2022 about former Arizona Sen. John McCain and his supporters. But McCain’s daughter, Megan, hasn’t bought that Lake’s remarks were made in jest.
“Guess she realized she can’t become a Senator without us,” McCain wrote on X Tuesday.

In the wake of her defeat in a 2022 gubernatorial race, for example, the Republican filed a lawsuit, ostensibly to present evidence of election irregularities. That didn’t turn out well for the GOP conspiracy theorist.
Lake is also, of course, dealing with an ongoing defamation case, though as NBC News recently reported, she appears poised to lose this case, too.
But perhaps most notable of all was her first election-related lawsuit, filed two years ago this week, which continues to be an embarrassment for the Senate candidate. The Associated Press reported:
The U.S. Supreme Court on Monday declined to consider a request by Republican U.S. Senate candidate Kari Lake to ban the use of electronic vote-counting machines in Arizona. ... The Supreme Court’s decision not to take the vote-counting case marks the end of the road for the effort to require a hand count of ballots. No justices dissented when the court denied their request.

According to the Washington Post, the former president is annoyed by Lake's frequent jaunts to Mar-a-Lago, Trump's resort and political home base in Palm Beach, Florida.
At one point, according to the report, Trump even "gently suggested to Lake that she should leave the club and hit the campaign trail" in Arizona, where she's set to face Democratic Rep. Ruben Gallego in a high-stakes Senate race this fall.
