Yeah, it's a combo of things. Mags, websites, dealers, talking to owners. I've stopped people at redlights, in the parking lot or getting tires on my car. I'll engage people in convos on what they like, don't like about their car, truck, etc. Also racetracks and car shows as well. Truth be told, if one is willing to learn, engaging and inquisitive you can learn a lot...half the shit I know is because I've asked, the other half is from forums and mags, more so the forums...
I've been in the customer service industry for most of my working career, and it helps immensely to ask the consumer questions about their likes, wants and desires, and ask for good feedback. Also like GI Joe, knowing is half the battle. When I used to work at Footlocker during the summer in college I learned that knowing about the product (I didn't understand why the DC area liked New Balances) and having a smooth and friendly demeanor helped me better than trying to smooth talk people. I soon learned every about the shoes--technology, price, colorways, the sizing, cut, what clothes to match it up with for women, etc...
And I approach that with the car thing as well.
seems like a ton of work to me but then again....i'm not a car guy.....now i LOVE the new balance...
1) i dont have to shop around....i know they r comfy and i'm in and out in 10 mins literally
2) i know my size in it....again...literally takes me 10 mins to buy a pair...i usually throw away my old pair and walk out with the new ones

anything i should know about the new balance
carpe` vaginum!

Not as hard as you may think...for instance, I was on 270 going toward rockville to work, and I was on 270 local, I saw this Audi S5, brand new (they just came out at the time), it was a dealer I believe, well he eventually got on 270 local, and we took the same exit to Montrose Rd, we were at a stoplight. I rolled down my window and was talking driver, told me about the car and told me to get one...

The Washington DC area buys more New Balances than anywhere else (at least when I worked at Footlocker), especially the 574s in Blue or grey. I never figured out, why they were expensive for a "simple" looking and plain shoe. And I was reprimanded by a customer one time because of my ignorance. She had asked for them and I said, "They're $100." she told me that she That she knew that and that she could afford it, she was real sharp (she was black), and she had been buying them for awhile, so she new the shoe, I didn't know the shoe...Knowing the product is like knowing how to please a woman, they come back for more...

Yeah, some dealerships are like that. The one near me was kinda like that...I actually went to a BMW dealership near me and told him of situation I noticed on a Sunday. Someone left a lot of cars unlocked and there was a guy opening the doors, he wasn't trying to steal the cars, but just trying to see how many were unlocked, and there were a shitload. I went to the dealership on Monday, I was dressed in a shirt and tie, and they ignored me for 5-8 minutes---too fucking long. I finally had to ask and then told them the issues. I should have spoken to their manager. I kinda felt like, they thought, "oh here is his youg black guy looking at M5s, he can't afford it..."Another friend of mine who had a E36 M3 wanted to look at M3s at a dealership near Toxie, he was brushed off, and he is cool guy. Same dealership I went too, a State's Attorney was brushed off, and he owned a M3 and a old 2002---

Toxie, another thing, you never know who you talk to, I met a attorney who gets private tours of the Porsche factory and got inside scoops on upcoming cars, I knew when the Cayenne and Cayman were coming to market before the websites and mags did. And also rare variants. I also met and talk to a guy whose neighbor owned a Porschd 917 racecar, and those today are worth millions...

I know what you mean, I completely hate the customer service of most euro dealership. I've had similar problems just like that when I had an E46 M3. I rolled up to the local BMW dealership and the sales guy completely ignored me. At the time I was looking at the E92's. Well, they certainly didn't get my business.

Out of all I would say the Porsche dealer was the best, followed by MB, BMW, and than Audi. Fuck Audi, the guy got frustrated at me and told me "if you like BMW so much, why don't you stick with them," hahahaha, I said fuck you and needless to say, I did ;D

Yep, due to the Go-Go culture which influences local culture, the New Balance is the shoe choice, seriously if it wasn't for the Wash DC area, New Balance probably would be out of business, we are their main market.

MB_722, 1st part, no problem and I agree, second part, i agree as well.

I went with my brother to the Audi dealership, looking at the S5, man, that salesman had soo much
double talk it was rediculous...plus the S5 compared to a 335is, is waaaay overpriced...
We went to the Infiniti dealer, night and day, and Lexus, damn they treat you like they want you marry the car for life and have kids with it, you don't want to leave.

Ryan, I think, by your personality you'd make a good sales rep for BMW or human resources, they need to be
shown how to treat a customer, you can't take them for granted...

MB, that's the spirit, some women you gotta say, "I got no time for you foolishness", because if it like that in the beginning, think of how it will be after that...think is a troublesome used sports car worth the hassle, no matter how good the curves look? If you are investing more than what you put in (time), and you get "issues" and "games" and "young mindedness", eff that with your mighty middle finger...

lol, I would probably try to make most of my sales on young chicks and milfs. Man, I've seen soooo many who come in to look at X5's and Z4's.

I agree with Lexus. I went in for a test drive in the IS-F, and I was helped with an older guy. He was cool as hell, I told him straight up I was only going to test drive and may or may not have intentions on buying. He was like "that's okay, I'm in the mood for a ride in one." ;D

I'm glad the german cars are stepping up in quality, too many years of piss poor reliability and cheap materials. Hell, the C class interior in ways still looks cheap to me. The new E, however, is badass. Parker, if you ever get a chance, test drive the new E63. Fuck, the new transmission is a plus. I love the sound of all the 6.2 motors Mercedes build. Too bad its coming to an end :'(

Hey Ryan, no you mean "too good it's all coming to an end!", it means that either people will trade their cars in for the 5.5 twin turbo ones and you get the car cheaper, or that the depreciation on them will be in your favor, and that it might be a collectors item...that is the way I think...

I thought about talking my mom into getting the E63, but, the E350 is very much her speed.

BTW, there is new video of the M1 being test on the 'Ring, and this is with black and white swirly camo on it and CSL style rims. It's about 2 mins long and has very good sound quality.

MB as long as BMW owns Rolls Royce, chances are that there will be a V12...

Did you see that the Ferrari 599XX got a 6:58 on the 'Ring?

Well, Pagani is testing the new Merc V12 in his Zonda replacement, the C9, so chances are AMG will still fill those orders for that...AMG is stepping up big time, and will have a true M3 coupe competitor out. It seems that AMG is becoming more "M" than the M Division is. People are now Saying M stands for "Marketing", when actually that is basically the only dept more powerful than M (and accounting).

True, the depreciation on AMG's in particular are ridiculous!! My friend picked up a 2004 E55 AMG last year for 25K. It had only 40k miles. He's added headers, ECU, and some minor work to it already. That thing is CRAZY!!!

Come to think of it Parker, if the C63 gets down to 25-35K, I'll definitely find a good condition one and build it to about 500 rwhp all motor. I can see it now, black on black, or white on black, blacked out grill, coil-overs, HRE wheels, carbon splitters, carbon diffuser, eisennman race full exhaust, delete resonators,  pulleys, headers, intake, ecu work, etc.....  ;D

I saw the 599XX, all I can say is, anyone that does a time like that is insane :o Anything 7.40 or under is already impressive and borderline suicidal!!

Also the M1 looks like it will be in production. Like you said M does indeed stand for "marketing," but the M1 should be a beast. BMW will definitely make sure it won't be the M3 though.

Yep, there you go Ryan, C63, and it doesn't take much to get that to 500 hp, because it is detuned for the C63, but makes more in the S63 and more in the SLS.
Where I used to live there was a young guy who had a older C class coupe, like 2002 or so, he had the exhuast done and headers and a DTM looking front end, it was the shit!!!

When I was at the Merc dealer, a salesman told ne that the C63 that they had a special on was looked at by a guy who would buy it, but he can't fit in the seat...Fat ass American, wanted to know if he could get diff seats...I mean it's a sports model, if you can't fit in the seats, then you can't handle the car. Especially when the C63 does 0-60 in 3.9 secs.

I personally would like to have the C63 AMG Black Series, which does put out 500 hp. There has not been a comparison of that and the C63 AMG DTM production car...both are coupes based on the same C classcoupe

Correct, thanks for the name, I couldn't place it, yep...it uses the same engine and it has like 517 hp. And then there was the CLK DTM AMG before that...similar concept, but with the wide DTM fenders. I was gonna send Top Gear or 5th Gear a email to test both of those to see which was better. They both are insane...

Love both SL65 and CLK blacks. I'll take the CLK black in either white or mars red.

Tells you how much a bargin the C63 really is, my friend picked up an 09 last summer just when the 10's where coming in and he paid 55k out the door :o That's a ridiculous bargin for what you are getting.
