this may be hard to understand, so let me take you and AXA through it slowly:
i don't lift for the vanity of it. if i had the ability to just lift in my basement i would. i exercise for the love of exercising. i enjoy getting better at the activity. for me, it's actually fun to head to the gym and push weights around. i look forward to it. to me, lifting isn't a means to an end, it's the goal itself. there's no "purpose" to having a big bench, but i love doing it.
your problem is that you look at everything through the scope of "will this make me look good?" the problem here is that to the vast majority of the world, "good" isn't 4% bodyfat and diced hamstrings. want a comical reality check? i'm a LOST fanatic, right? to a whole shitload of female viewers, this guy is as sexy as it gets:
yeah. throw that guy on here and the "obese" and "skinny fat" comments would flow, but frankly hardly anyone gives two shits if you're at 8% bodyfat or 11%.
so while you're obsessing over appearances in pursuit of a nonexistent perfect body, i'm just doing something that i find enjoyable and trying to get better at it.
