I cannot believe I am posting this. Getbig is, well, Getbig. If no one rakes you through the hot coals, you aren't really a member. Call it haters if you wish, but it is really all about initiation and if you survive it, you'll be a better person for having done so.
I see that the "haters" have already started putting you to the test. If you hang in there, you have passed. If you wimp out, you fail. It is as simple as that.
I put it all out there and I got a lot of shit for it too. Sometimes I hate the shit I get, but I then I remember that whatever doesn't kill you, just makes you stronger.
Buck up or move on, it is your choice.

Yes, this place has its fair share of filt. Regardless, i enjoy its uniqueness. Ron built this site from nothing. He crafted his vision. He had a dream and a passion for the sport. This place is a reflection of that vision. However, Ron being the visionary he is, would not have foreseen the scope of negativity and hating that a site like this would attract.
Bottom line, Ron, like myself, are able to 'filter the filt' and see this place for what it really is. And that is, a platform for lovers of the sport to gather, share ideas, dream large and maybe learn something along the way.
So as i and Ron will continue to do, and that is, let the haters hate. And in saying that, i will never, i repeat never, bow down nor accept that hating should be a part of this place.

I like to warm up with 135 lbs. on the bench press and with the Olympic bar. I eat lots of chicken and rice. Although... I hear deer and sweet potato will achieve better gains. (bodybuilding related)

Most of us don't want a heavy moderated board with attention whoring pros, but that doesn't mean that everything is allowed. We have pretty good mods here, like Ron, OMR and others, but they're not dictating this place.
Regarding those other categories of people; judges, insiders, experts, etc, we have plenty of them, but you will find most of their posts on other sections than the G&O section.

By all indications, the Pros will never return if the moderation environment remains as it is. Furthermore, i don't see the Pros as gods as you suggest. I am under no illusions that the majority of Pros are deeply challenged individuals.
Again, i simply believe that because this place is first and foremost about BB it would stand to reason that having Pros post here can only improve it.

DP, it is not about whether or not i can 'deal' with this place. I choose to be hear because i am a fan of the sport period. I am not trying to ram my point down the throats of the likes of people like you. I just believe this place would benefit if the Pros felt comfortable with returning here.
By all indications, the Pros will never return if the moderation environment remains as it is. Furthermore, i don't see the Pros as gods as you suggest. I am under no illusions that the majority of Pros are deeply challenged individuals.
Again, i simply believe that because this place is first and foremost about BB it would stand to reason that having Pros post here can only improve it.
Well, if BB is a sport or not, will be a classic debate forever. I don't believe that most pros bring much value to the table, simply because they can't discuss their drug protocols, their sources of income, federation politics and so on (I can't blame them for this because it will harm their career). In case a pro has something interesting to say, which won't happen that often, we will know it almost right away, since GB has plenty of well informed sources and members who visit other places as well.
GB would be boring as fuck, when all of it's threads were 100% (or almost) BB related. Check, for example my 'progressive beats thread (http://www.getbig.com/boards/index.php?topic=479903.0)' (brutal plug, I know ;D )

With all due respect i blame the moderators entirely for the Pros not posting here. Over the years i have witnessed with frustration Pro after Pro leaving this place for MD and BB.com. The Pros just grow sick and tired of the treatment they receive at the hands of the flotsam.
A moderator's role is to moderate ffs. In a sense it is a form of protection from attacks of racism, bigotry, bullying and the like. Furthermore, the moderator in essence protects the poster and the integrity of the posting environment- without consistent moderation you have forum anarchy.

I feel you have a point and then you throw it away by making an absurd overreach.
It is true that the rules might say no racist language, but a lot does persist.
But that is not the logic required to suggest we might as well have no rules.
The rule is actually quite clear to me - I know I've been here for a while, so I cannot say it is obvious but here is the absolute true rule.
If you are a particularly successful, eloquent or venomous racist, you will eventually find oblivion.
The legendary sir dan was a good example of this. Very amusing, very eloquent and particularly successful at getting under people's skin, regarding this issue.
Racism, for me, should be played out a little. Completely banning it just makes people ignorant of it. You cannot convince someone that racism is "wrong" by simply saying "you must not be racist". That might work for people who don't think for themselves, but it won't discourage anybody who considers themselves to have their own mind, capable of considering whether something is negative.

Again, this place operates by some simple rules. When a breach is brought to the attention of the mods or Ron, whether that be directly or indirectly, then appropriate action needs to be taken....Simple really.
It is more about constructive compliance as a opposed to a dictatorial approach.
For example, if someone posts an ant-Semitic post they are dealt with swiftly -as they well should be! So then why are other forms of racism then tolerated here?
