The 45 degree angle is arguably the worst angle for any bodybuilding footage. It hides width of upper and lower body. That's why Arnold doesn't look as good there.

There are hundreds of pictures and screencaps from the show from various sources. Most are front-on, giving the most equal look at the body. Arnold is as good as anyone in the lineup.

No bitterness at all. I think Arnold is the greatest. I've interviewed a lot of people who were at the 1980 Mr. Olympia and almost all of them have Arnold no higher than fifth. The controversy comes in when the photos show Arnold looks the best onstage or close to the best, even though he wasn't at his previous best. I was at the 1981 Mr. Olympia and I can tell you that the pictures don't always tell the true story. Boyer Coe told me that CBS refused to show the footage they shot because Arnold looked so bad, it was obvious to everyone who saw it that he didn't deserve to win. I've always wondered how Arnold looked in that CBS footage so, if this is from that, it makes sense because Arnold does look worse than in other videos or pictures from that day.

The difference is that Franco doesn't look as a winner on pictures and videos from 1981 while Arnold does.You interviewed other competitors from that contest who were competing against Arnold,most of them bitter,with egos hurt from the fact that Arnold was retired for 5 years and then came back with only 8 weeks of prep and still managed to beat them. You competed in many contests,tell me are you able to properly judge a contest in which you are also a competitor? This "you have to be there" thing is more relevant to a modern day sub 5% bodyfat conditioning where some fine details in the muscles can't be captured in the pics or videos,in the 70s they didn't have that level of dryness. If we go by who was there we should not forget that the judges were also there and unlike the fellow competitors they properly watched the contest from the best seats in the house.
As for the video it's highly unlikely to be the CBS one as it was shot from a very poor angle.
