It is a dangerous world, dominated by outsized personalities who act aggressively on behalf of their nations, including not hesitating to threaten — and even engage in — war.

Fortunately, one is President Donald Trump.

History - and in particular, the American voter - has a way of calling forth the right person to lead at the right time. Trump is a flawed man; self-indulgent, megalomaniacal, a bit paranoid, driven by self-interest and implacably domineering. But these “flaws” also make him a big character, and as he prepares to confront Kim and the other great tyrants of the age, Americans can feel assured that they have chosen the right man for the moment.

The formidable FBI Director James Comey found out he had been fired through a television report. His new memoir seems preachy, whiny and self-justifying — and includes petty, mean-girl hits on Trump. Former Secretary of State Rex Tillerson, the former Exxon executive who had already himself been marginalized and diminished, was reportedly on the toilet when he found out he’d been cashiered.

These indignities were the crass work of an uncouth man. But voters eschewed elegance because, they calculated, a blunt and even predatory individual is what the country needed at this moment. A man who, Kim, Xi, Khamenei and Putin will all suspect, might just be brutal and dark enough to stand his ground against them and counter their own ruthless agendas.

Totally misleading title. In fact I'd call it FAKE NEWS

SK and NK have NOT agreed on denuclearization

Doesn't surprise me at all the Faux News would print that and that a Trumptard would post it here

All the article says is that they agreed to work toward a nuclear-free Korean peninsula

That's like your obese friend saying they are going on a diet and then you claiming they've already lost all the weight

or

like a couple that is separated agreeing to work on their marriage and try to get back together.  That's not the same as them being back together.

BTW - Before the Trumptards all start screaming "unfair" this has nothing to do with Trump.  This is about Faux News not understanding basic grammar or just flat out lying

If the South can bring the North in over time with their embrace of Capitalism. Watch out.

This is a few years old - and it is comparing kimchi to sauerkraut - but it points to a generation-long period of adjustment.  The Communists would have to step aside, though, which seems unlikely.  Prove me wrong, Lil' Kim, prove me wrong.

"Eastern Germany’s GDP per head is still only 67% of that in western Germany; its unemployment rate is still markedly higher. Yet full convergence between east and west is not a fair benchmark. The remaining east-west divide is now no more pronounced than the socio-economic fault lines that cross Belgium, Italy or Spain. That surely counts as success."

has absolutely zero to do with trump. sk president ran on a pro NK reconciliation platform when he was elected last year. sk general public are sick of being pawns in the US's war games. he was viewed as being an anti american candidate. since he's been in power he's halted the roll out of the US THAAD missile defence system and he's suspended further US/SK military exercises till at least the end of the olympics.

that's the real reason why NK is now coming to the table.

Aren't the olympics over?

yes. and no military exercises took place until it finished. also SK hugely scaled back the annual US/SK military simulations. they lasted half the usual time and the US was greatly restricted in what military hardware it was able to display.

see this is the stuff the media doesn't feed the MSM sheeple. they just want to paint Kim Jong as an unhinged lunatic, hellbent on starting WW3. in reality NK's missile testing is a just response to US posturing and agitating.

now you have a leader in SK that won't go along with the status quo and is actively trying to demilitarise SK , all of a sudden Kim Jong is not such a blood thirsty madman after all.

You might be partially right.  This from an opinion piece:

"Moon understands this, which precisely is why he dangled the prospect of a Nobel Prize in front of Trump. He is flattering Trump in the hopes that this will make him more flexible in his negotiations with North Korean dictator Kim Jong Un. Trump should refuse to take the bait."

two days after it was announced that Trump had agreed to this meeting is speculated that it would never happen

Trump (being a fucking moron) had no clue how much work on his part it would take to not only prepare but to stay on point.

He probably thought it would be like one of those meet and greets at Trump Tower where people kiss his ass and then take a photo

Maybe Trump can still get the peace prize for destabilizing the middle and moving us closer to war with Iran (with no allies on our side)

duh, of course not

that would suggest he would do some kind of preparation and we know that's not his thing

btw - I seriously doubt this meeting will ever happen

I think Trump did the right thing by calling it off.
But, I don't think he sould have tried it in the first place.

That crazy  NK dictator will give up his nukes, when you ( Coach) marry Barney Frank  ;)

North Korea is tricky. That's an understatement. Those that were in the know on Kim gave the summit a small percentage chance of happening due to his and his fathers past actions. While many people were blowing up baloons and talking about a Nobel Prize for Trump, most were very cautious to get too excited about it because 2 of the 3 main participants are nutcases. But mostly because North Korea having spent decades under sanctions spending billions on creating a nuclear program, were unlikely to simply agree to dismantle and give it up no matter what was offered. It was more likely a ploy to get some relief and they would drag their feet and play us if they could. I don't blame Trump at all for making the attempt. He would have been remiss not to try. And maybe eventually they will get to the table but I have bigly doubts that Trump can outplay North Korea in a chess match. He has too many buttons that are easily pushed.

Like Howard said, no other President has really made a dent so trying something unorthodox wasn't a horrible idea. I don't know how successful it can be as long as Trump is directly involved as you allude to. There are protocols, land mines both politically and verbally he would be unlikely to avoid. What I would have hoped would happen is Trump uses his "brand" to get the meeting, then allows those who actually know what they are doing to make the decisions and the bulk of dialogue.

Trump agreed to the meeting without giving it any thought then realized he wasn't willing to do the work to prepare for it and couldn't fake his way though it without looking like a total jackass (an experience you're no doubt familiar with) so he bailed out in a pathetic attempt to avoid disaster

Not sure if you work with bodybuilders, but if so, any good enough that the Mayor of BB would stalk LOL?

Right now it's all FB. High School seniors transferring to college programs, in coming college from around the country for off-season work, still have a couple of NFL free agents then after OTA's off-season NFL for a couple of months.

LOL - it's Kim's fault that Trump cancelled

Classic Trumptardism

No chubbster- Pompeo said Kim stopped returning calls for preparations as they agreed to do .  That’s what caused the reason for the cancellation

whatever you say Shorty

Trumptard will always find someone else to blame

It's not like the White House is going to admit that Mike Pence and Bolton totally fucked but by referring to the Libya model as the likely outcome with North Korea.

No way that had anything to do with this

Good move by Trump given North Korea failing to respond.  Trump is unorthodox and definitely outside the box, but this is what real leadership looks like.

North Korea was no-show for summit planning meeting in Singapore last week, White House reveals
Nicole Darrah By Nicole Darrah   | Fox News

Deputy chief of staff was sent to Singapore to prepare for the summit, but White House says the North Korean delegation never showed up.

North Korea didn't show up to recent meetings to prepare for the now-cancelled summit between dictator Kim Jong Un and President Trump, the White House revealed Thursday.

The summit, from which the U.S. withdrew Thursday morning, was scheduled to take place June 12 in Singapore.

North Korean leadership didn't show up to a recent planning meeting by Trump administration officials in Singapore, a senior White House official said, adding that the U.S. made several attempts to communicate with North Korea ahead of what would have been an historic meeting but leadership from the communist nation never responded.

"They stood us up," the official said.

North Korea's statement to the U.S. Wednesday night -- in which the country threatened to pull out of the summit and called Vice President Mike Pence a "political dummy" -- was the first communication the U.S. has heard from the North in a week, the White House said.

"Based on the tremendous anger and open hostility displayed in your most recent statement, I feel it is inappropriate, at this time, to have this long-planned meeting," Trump stated in a letter to Kim released on Thursday.

READ THE LETTER: TRUMP'S MESSAGE TO KIM JONG UN THAT CANCELED HISTORIC SUMMIT

However, Trump left open the possibility of rescheduling the summit, saying that "hopefully everything is going to work out well with North Korea. A lot of things can happen, including the fact — it’s possible the existing summit could take place, or a summit at a later date.”

WTF are you talking about.  I have the exact same resources that you do as does everyone else.   Last week Bolton made the idiotic Lyba model comment.   The White House then tried to walk back his comment and then for some inexplicable reason Pencetard made the same comment.  North Korea acted as expected after both comments.

Trump was a moron to so quickly agree to a meeting then looks like an even bigger fool by backing out. Did you read Trump's break-up letter (or have someone read it to you)?

Trump cancels the meeting but somehow also says if he (Kim) changes his mind to let him (Trump) know.    Obviously that doesn't even make any sense and Kim has already called his bluff by saying let's meet.  Now everyone on the planet knows who the bluffer and poser is on this issue.

the US purposely sabotaged the summit . firstly by flying B52s(capable of carrying nukes) towards korea from guam prior to the blue lightning military exercise, and then by bolton saying a lybia style deal was what they had in mind.

gadaffi gave up his nukes, was bombed into oblivion by the west and as a result killed. there's no way bolton would say that other than to try to derail the summit. the last thing the US wants is peace between the 2 koreas. it delegitimises the reasons for having so many troops and hardware based in the region.

that's not breaking news. NK announced they were committed to a total denucleariztion of the peninsula weeks ago. but take note of the wording, "peninsula".

the SK/NK deal was for NK to relinquish their nuclear weapons and manufacturing capabilities in return for a lifting of sanctions, a halt in US/SK strategic military exercises and for SK to get rid of the chemicals and hardware they possess that makes them also capable of producing nukes.

since then the US has been making provocative moves and public statements to deliberately derail the deal. if any deal is finally done it is going to be despite the US rather than due to it. very unlikely the US will let any agreement take place though.

He unilaterally cancels meetings and backs out of previously negotiated deals

The rest of the world leaders are realising he brings nothing to the table, is not someone they can rely on and is mostly a nuisance and a joke at this point

I have no proof that it was "bad"

According to the head of the CIA and now Secretary of State we have no proof that Iran has  violated the agreement

Does backing out make us more  safe or less safe?

Does backing out help with our credibility in futures negotiations with any country on any subject?

Chuck Schumer had a great analysis of the deal from 2015 I believe, and I tend to agree with him, that it was a bad deal. I'm glad we backed out.

The Paris Climate Accord was terrible for us as well, having us subsidize undeveloped countries which was just essentially a bribe to have them skip fossil fuels. Both deals needed renegotiation. I'm not saying the idea and spirit behind them was flawed, but those deals themselves were bad for USA. If you're a globalist I could see how you could agree with them, but I am not and thus think since they were bad for us, they needed to be redone.

>WH wants NK leader KJU to commit to a timetable to surrender his country’s nuclear arsenal when he meets President Donald Trump next week in Singapore, a high-stakes summit that could last as long as two days -- or just minutes.
- Trump has been advised not to offer Kim any concessions, as the WH seeks to put the onus on the North Koreans to make the summit a success, one U.S. official said.
- The president is determined to walk out of the meeting if it doesn’t go well, two officials said.
- Alternatively, Trump is toying with the idea of offering Kim a follow-up summit at his Mar-a-Lago resort in Palm Beach, Florida -- perhaps in the fall -- if the two men hit it off.
- Other than announcing that the two leaders will first meet at 9 a.m. Singapore time June 12 at the Capella Hotel on Singapore’s Sentosa Island, WH has described no schedule for the summit.
- If the first meeting goes well, there will be further events that day and perhaps even on June 13.
- Trump will be joined in Singapore by Secretary of State Mike Pompeo, his Chief of Staff John Kelly and National Security Adviser John Bolton.
- The U.S. delegation also tentatively includes the CIA’s top Korea expert, Andrew Kim; the National Security Council’s point person on Korea, Allison Hooker; and White House Deputy Chief of Staff Joe Hagin, who has negotiated much of the groundwork for the summit with the North Koreans.

Kim can't lose

Worst case for him is that he gets treated like an equal by other world leaders and gets a bunch of photo opps that will be plastered all over NK State Media

Meanwhile back in Trumptardia our Dear Leader thinks he will know by "touch and feel" if he "likes" Kim and I guess if he likes Kim that presumes that Kim will acquiesce and "something good is going to happen"

Quote
“Within the first minute, I’ll know. My touch, my feel — that’s what I do,” Trump said during a news conference in Quebec as he prepared to depart the Group of Seven summit en route to Singapore, where he is scheduled to meet Kim on Tuesday.

“You know the way they say you know if you like somebody in the first five seconds?” he added. “Well, I think very quickly I’ll know whether something good is going to happen. I think I’ll also know whether it will happen fast.”

No shit. Maybe if Obama had a grasp on diplomacy Russia would not have annexed Crimea and had an "influence" on our election. He's either ignorant or incompetent. ISIS would not have progressed past the JV Team.

But let's continue to make fun of Trump...

ISIS finally got their asses in short order when russia entered the fray in syria because they were actually trying to defeat them.

as for the US/NK "summit", likely to be another US shit show. NK and SK both clearly want peace and are sick of being pawns in US war games. no doubt the trump and co will find some way to throw a spanner in the works

two days after it was announced that Trump had agreed to this meeting is speculated that it would never happen

"The pledges were vaguely-worded and did not represent an advance on similar agreements between their two countries over past decades."

“President Trump committed to provide security guarantees to the DPRK, and Chairman Kim Jong-un reaffirmed his firm and unwavering commitment to complete denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula.”

Previous agreements in 1994 and 2005 contained very similar promises, but they broke down over difference of interpretation, and spats over verification."

it's good news nonetheless. but the two driving forces that resulted in this "summit", were the election of a pro reconciliation president in SK and NK's successful nuclear weapon program . they are the two main factors that forced a US president to meet kim jong.

as said previously it is clear there is now a great will for peace between the 2 koreas but any lasting end to hostilities will be despite the US rather than thanks to it. and remember again to take note of the wording. every time NK release that statement it's always "committed to a complete denuclearization of the PENINSULA...

but all this BS that this is some great achievement by trump and his actions were somehow instrumental in getting things to where they are is pure fiction.

Great and historic day. Props to President Trump for getting it done. Here is the text of the agreement between the U.S. and North Korea:

Convinced that the establishment of new U.S.-DPRK relations will contribute to the peace and prosperity of the Korean Peninsula and of the world, and recognizing that mutual confidence building can promote the denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula, President Trump and Chairman Kim Jong Un state the following:

1. The United States and the DPRK commit to establish new U.S.-DPRK relations in accordance with the desire of the peoples of the two countries for peace and prosperity.

2. The United States and the DPRK will join their efforts to build a lasting and stable peace regime on the Korean Peninsula.

3. Reaffirming the April 27, 2018 Panmunjom Declaration, the DPRK commits to work toward complete denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula.

4. The United States and the DPRK commit to recovering POW/MIA remains, including the immediate repatriation of those already identified.

Having acknowledged that the U.S.-DPRK summit — the first in history — was an epochal event of great significance in overcoming decades of tensions and hostilities between the two countries and for the opening up of a new future, President Trump and Chairman Kim Jong Un commit to implement the stipulations in this joint statement fully and expeditiously. The United States and the DPRK commit to hold follow-on negotiations, led by the U.S. Secretary of State, Mike Pompeo, and a relevant high-level DPRK official, at the earliest possible date, to implement the outcomes of the U.S.-DPRK summit.

President Donald J Trump of the United States of America and Chairman Kim Jong Un of the State Affairs Commission of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea have committed to cooperate for the development of new U.S.-DPRK relations and for the promotion of peace, prosperity, and security of the Korean Peninsula and of the world.

Hardly

Just hilarious watching Trumptard and his nuthuggers getting playing by Little Rocket Man

Can you tell me what Little Rocket Man agreed to with Trump?

Must have been something pretty tangible for Trump to unilaterally claim to cancel the joint military exercises that we've done for years.

What did Rocket Man agree to in writing to get such a huge concession from Trump?

I'm sure you're aware that North Korea agreed in writing in 1992 to denuclearize?

Quote
Desiring to eliminate the danger of nuclear war through denuclearization of the Korean peninsula ...

1.  The South and the North shall not test, manufacture, produce, receive, possess, store, deploy or use nuclear weapons.

2.  The South and the North shall use nuclear energy solely for peaceful purposes.

3.  The South and the North shall not possess nuclear reprocessing and uranium enrichment facilities.

4.  The South and the North, in order to verify the denuclearization of the Korean peninsula, shall conduct inspection of the objects selected by the other side and agreed upon between the two sides, in accordance with procedures and methods to be determined by the South-North Joint Nuclear Control Commission.

5.  The South and the North, in order to implement this joint declaration, shall establish and operate a South-North joint Nuclear Control Commission within one (1) month of the effectuation of this joint declaration.

This Joint Declaration shall enter into force as of the day the two sides exchange appropriate instruments following the completion of their respective procedures for bringing it into effect.

Rare moment of honesty from Trump yesterday

Quote
“I may be wrong,” Trump said during a news conference after the meeting. “I may stand before you in six months and say, ‘Hey, I was wrong.' ”

“I don’t know that I’ll ever admit that, but I’ll find some kind of an excuse,”

because Obama didn't give him anything or praise him publicly

figured even a moron such as yourself would have remembered that

He was too busy putting Castro's cock in his mouth and coordinating pallets of cash to be sent to Iran. Apparently letting them gain access to our financial systems wasn't enough...

what did the worlds greatest negotiator get Un to agree to do?

Why do you keep saying “what did Un agree too”? The the quick answer would be, what was the ultimatum that Trump gave Un? No sanctions lifted and he doesn’t comply there will be more sanctions imposed, if he doesn’t adhere to that, military force will be used. If he sets off more test rockets, we’ll level where he stands.

Pompeo insists North Korea agreement 'encompasses' verifiable, irreversible denuclearization

Secretary of State Mike Pompeo is defending the agreement signed by President Trump and Kim Jong Un at the Singapore summit, insisting it “encompasses” ‘verifiable’ and ‘irreversible’ denuclearization, even though the document does not explicitly use those terms.

The document calls only for “complete denuclearization,” sparking criticism the agreement was not specific enough to allow oversight of the denuclearization process.

“Let me assure you that ‘complete’ encompasses ‘verifiable’ in the minds of everyone concerned,” Pompeo told reporters in Seoul Wednesday. “One can’t completely denuclearize without validating, authenticating – you pick the word. The President is committed to that.”

When a reporter asked why the terms were not included in the statement, Pompeo replied “It’s in the statement. You’re just wrong about that.”

“I suppose you could argue semantics, but let me assure you that it’s in the document,” Pompeo continued....

Trump gave away something (war games/joint military operations) and got nothing in return except an agreement to  maybe to do something sometime in the future

LOL - so the document they signed doesn't include those words but we're supposed to believe that Un is going to comply with that.

Fucking Hilarious

Hey, do you think it was a stupid for Trumptard to agree to changes in military operations without actually consulting or even informing his own military

Try to imagine Obama doing that and let me know what you think

there's nothing wrong with the deal. it should be easy enough for either side to see if the other is sticking to their end. let's just hope typical US duplicity doesn't derail it. moon jae in has done an amazing job getting this deal done considering the rhetoric that was coming out of the US and NK only a few months ago.

Hes the commander in Chief. Also, the next military drills aren’t even scheduled for another few months. If Un is going fuck up he’ll fuck up with in that time. Trump can end and start those drills back up anytime he chooses.

Try to imagine Obama doing that and let me know what you think

But c'mon now, have some pride and get Trump's balls out of your mouth.

Seriously Coach, many Trump supporters worship the man. Pathetic.

Point out where I’m wrong. Don't think of it as worship, think of it as knowing right from wrong.

Koreas to discuss recovering remains of fallen soldiers, 'removing land mines' in DMZ...
yonhapnews ^ | 6/14.2018 | YonHap

The two Koreas will discuss recovering the remains of fallen soldiers and eliminating land mines in the Dmz Zone during another round of military talks expected to take place as early as late this month.

They will also run a communication line among their naval ships in the Yellow Sea and fully restore western and eastern military communication channels, according to the agreement reached during Thursday's general-grade meeting, the first in more than a decade.

"In the follow-up military talks, (we) plan to focus on the issue of replacing the old communication line in the North and establishing a new one," an official at Seoul's defense ministry said on condition of anonymity.

"The construction work, such as installing optical cables and other equipment, would take two to three months," he added.

The official also noted that ahead of the construction work, his ministry asked the foreign ministry to check if installing such communication equipment would run afoul of international sanctions against the North.

"Should it be seen as infrastructure construction, it could be seen as an exception (from the sanctions)," he said.

Ok, maybe worship may be a bit over the top , but, it's pretty 1 sided.
I'll put it in sport terms we both understand:

Call a penelty on my team = bad call, refs trying to fix the game.

Call the same penelty on the other team = good call, fair refs.

You have to admit, I've made an effort to give Trump credit when I think he deserves it.
I know you don't agree with me, but at least admit I'm trying to be fair and objective.

Well at least it was nice that North Korea returned the remains of 200 soldiers who died in the war

Too bad our piece of shit POTUS was too lazy or indifferent and couldn't be bothered to meet the remains with the families at the airport.

I wonder what his excuse will be ?

Will it be that he lied about the return of the remains and it never actually happened

SOUTH KOREA TO TRIAL REMOVING TROOPS FROM BORDER

>The Ministry of Defense said it will trial withdrawing forces at the surveillance Guard Post as the first step to turn the heavily-patrolled Demilitarized Zone (DMZ) into a ground for peace, in its report to the National Defense Committee at National Assembly, Yonhap reported.

>"After the test withdrawal at GP, we are aiming for a full withdrawal of troops in line with research on historical remains and ecology in the border region," the ministry said in the report.

>The ministry is considering reducing the number of guard forces at the Joint Security Area and allowing people to pass through freely. The JSA is located at the village of Panmunjom, where the summit between North Korean leader Kim Jong Un and South Korean President Moon Jae-in was held.

Styxhexenhammer summed it up best, "if they offer the Nobel Peace prize to Trump he should just publicly turn it down because it really doesn't mean anything since they gave it to Obama"

That would be the ultimate mic drop if he really hammed up the rejection in front of the entire world in big time Trump-esque fashion.
