The media and indivduals looking to ignite and profit off of racial tension are responsible for the outrage. The cases are related because they both illustrate the problem of gun violence in the United States, a message that is being lost because of the racial feeding frenzy in the Martin case.

the outrage was caused by Zimmerman not being arrested and charged on the night of the shooting
if that had happened then no one other than the family/friends would know about this trial
it would not be on TV and (to Zimmermans advantage) there would have been no stupid Hannity interview where he smirks and tells the world that it was all gods plan and that he he no remorse and wouldn't change a thing

The idea of being offended by this word is silly. I've never known a person in florida that was seriously angered or offended by the word. When you ask someone where they're from, they'll either say "Florida cracker", meaning they were born here, or they'll say transplant, and name their oriignal state.
There are lots of hurtful words - this isn't one of them.

eh, i grew up in the projects and heard some pretty nasty race-based language. but 'cracker', to me, is nothing. It's almost laughable.
and seriously, racists don't hurt my feelings because i don't value what they say. It's 2013. If a person hates me for the color of my skin, it doesn't bother me. They probably also hate me for my cracker jack MBA, the fact I can work in my underwear, or the fact I'm nearly 200 pounds with abs :) hate me for any reason you'd like, doesn't bug me to be honest.

I grew up cleveland/akron, OH. I was the only white kid on the city bus every morning. And even back then, aside from some ignorant comments, etc - we were all poor, we were all hungry, we were all cold as shit. I mean, have I been called names or caught an ass whooping? sure. But seriously, I'm not sitting around at 37 talking about my racial persecution lol... kids being a-holes.
As adults, if another man (of any color) attempts to hurt me, i defend myself as needed.
As adult, if another man cracks on my skin color, I return insults with a smirk, perhaps insulting his clothing, mother, education, car, whatever.
If he chooses to escalate, I'm armed and I follow law and things happen.
Seriously, there ae WAY worse things in life to be concerned about than "racial persecution". In decades past - YES - HUGE problem back then. today, however, it's about money, getting laid, staying healthy. A Florida man was severely injured when black teens teens beat him with a hammer a month after the Trayvon Martin shooting. The media has been mostly silent on this brutal crime. October Freedom’s Blog reported:
A fifty year old man, race undisclosed, is on life support after a near fatal beating. Police have arrested two black teens. The attack occurred near the community where the Trayvon Martin self-defense shooting took place.
The victim is from Winter Springs, which is 88% white. The victim was attacked in nearby Midway, which is 94% black. Both communities are within about a six-mile radius of Sanford.

The victim’s father was searching for answers after the attack. The Daily News reported:
A Jacksonville business owner is searching for answers following a vicious attack on his son almost two weeks ago in Seminole County,Fla.
Frank Slavin, the owner of Slavin Gallery in Jacksonville, told The Daily News Friday that his son Mark Slavin, 50, has been in critical condition and on life support at Orlando Regional Medical Center since the attack on March 26.
“It doesn’t look good for him, it doesn’t look good at all,” he said.
Slavin said his son, a graduate of Lejeune High School, has massive injuries to his skull after receiving 13 blows to the head with a hammer. He said Mark, who is single and a salesman for a furniture company in Orlando,Fla., was so badly battered that he was unidentifiable.
According to an arrest report from the Seminole County Sheriff’s Office, a man called 911 on March 26 to report hearing a man screaming for help. The caller said he saw two men pulling a third man from a vehicle and beating him with a hammer. The two dragged the man into nearby woods and continued to attack him, according to the report. The two fled the scene in the man’s vehicle before deputies arrived.
Julius Bender, 18, and Yahaziel Israel, 19, both of Sanford, Fla., were charged on March 30 by the sheriff’s office with attempted homicide, burglary with assault or battery and armed burglary in connection to the attack.
A tip received through the area’s Crime Line led investigators to Bender andIsrael, according to the release. Bender was identified through witness identification, and Israel was linked to the vehicle through forensic evidence.
It is not known how Mark Slavin is doing today after the brutal beating last year. It is also not clear if this beating had anything to do with Trayvon’s death.

Are we supposed to all review every violent crime in the country and spend our lives fretting about it
The people who did this were arrested and will likely be convicted
Why are the rest of us supposed to care about it, especially when we know the majority of this country is actually concerned about gun violence yet a small group of legislators makes sure that nothing happens to change it for the better
