AJ, guess the...

If you’re going to print phony money, it’s a safe bet that advertising the activity online is probably not a good idea.

It seems a 20-year-old Merritt Island man may have not gotten that message. He is accused of home-crafting a bunch of phony $20 bills and then trying to sell them on Craigslist.

The Brevard County Sheriff’s Office was clued into the alleged illegal activity courtesy of a tipster back in February. That tip sparked an investigation to find out who was behind the “Legit Counterfeit $$” ads placed on the website, a media release on the arrest stated. It seems the man didn’t make it too hard for detectives to find him since the ad also included his phone number.

I have a counterfeit $20 that my grandmother found back in the 50's. It's a 2 dollar bill with very carefully added "0" after the "2". You wouldn't know it except for the fact that it has Jefferson's face on it.

Lol advertising counterfeit money for sale.

As if spending it wasn't money enough.  Dude could have spent the money at flea markets, thrift and convenient stores, car washes, yard sales and it would have been months before anyone knew anything.

I had a friend in college go on spring break with counterfeit 20's, apparently paying for 1st class hotels with a fistful of new $20s raised suspicions amongst staffers (and I'm sure he displayed other forms of douchery) and, long short, he was part of an extensive FBI investigation.

He said he shouldn't have gotten so greedy.
