Justice Barrett Explains the Message Americans Should Take Away From the Supreme Court's Trump Ballot Ruling

As reported, the Supreme Court ruled unanimously 9-0 Monday morning that states cannot take former President Donald Trump off of the 2024 presidential ballot.

In her written opinion on the ruling, Justice Amy Coney Barrett explained the message she believes Americans should take away from the decision.

"In my judgment, this is not the time to amplify disagreement with stridency. The Court has settled a politically charged issue in the volatile season of a Presidential election. Particularly in this circumstance, writings on the Court should turn the national temperature down, not up," Barrett wrote. "For present purposes, our differences are far less important than our unanimity: All nine Justices agree on the outcome of this case. That is the message Americans should take home."

All Justices concurred that the states cannot create a "chaotic state-by-state patchwork, at odds with our Nation’s federalism principles." A patchwork was rejected because it would “sever the direct link that the Framers found so critical between the National Government and the people of the United States.”

The media isn't taking the ruling well.

Just to be clear, you got this backwards... or your post was purposely sarcastic. The U.S. Supreme Court Justices delivered a win for Trump. Their decision invalidates the States’ right to remove him from their ballot. A win for States’ rights would have been if the Supreme Court upheld their right to take Trump’s name off the ballot.

I partially agree with the Supreme Court Justice's decision because had they ruled in favor of Colorado, the door would be wide open for states to remove anyone from the ballot.

I completely agree with you, it is how democracy is supposed to work. If only Trump can accept the will of the voters when he loses the election once again next November. Unfortunately, it is highly unlikely that he can.

If so, then so were the courts, which includes the Supreme Court and  judges Trump appointed himself all of which who ruled against Trump's claims of election interference at least sixty-two times. In fact, the Trump campaign and other mislead groups seeking his reelection collectively lost multiple cases in six states in a single day. Among other things these Trump and company's lawsuits were frivolous and without merit according to most legal experts except those he hires… that is until he avoids paying them, then they change their tune.

Your personal dogma is a classic example of true insanity wherein you think the entire world is crazy or wrong except you. Guess what? Not even Trump believes his own lies.
