At what point do you stop giving credit to the last guy and give credit to where it's due?
[/quote

Whenever it is due.  Like for instance, we can give Trumpsie credit today for reaching the lowest approval rating EVER for a first term president.

That takes dedication and hard work.

U.S. Housing Starts Top Forecasts, Permits Rise to Seven-Month High

U.S. new-home construction rebounded last month to the best pace since August while permits rose to a seven-month high, a sign homebuilding is potentially stabilizing even as higher prices and borrowing costs pose headwinds.

Residential starts rose 3.2 percent to a 1.26 million annualized rate, exceeding forecasts, after a 1.22 million pace in the prior month that was revised down slightly, government figures showed Tuesday.

Senate overwhelmingly passes criminal justice overhaul

The Senate passed a sweeping criminal justice bill Tuesday that addresses concerns that the nation's war on drugs had led to the imprisonment of too many Americans for non-violent crimes without adequately preparing them for their return to society.

Senate passage of the bill by a vote of 87-12 culminates years of negotiations and gives President Donald Trump a signature policy victory, with the outcome hailed by scores of conservative and liberal advocacy groups. The House is expected to pass the bill this week, sending it to the president's desk for his signature.

The bill gives judges more discretion when sentencing some drug offenders and boosts prisoner rehabilitation efforts. It also reduces the life sentence for some drug offenders with three convictions, or "three strikes," to 25 years. Another provision would allow about 2,600 federal prisoners sentenced for crack cocaine offenses before August 2010 the opportunity to petition for a reduced penalty.

When the economy goes full cycle. This is often after a President's full term of office. It certainly isn't after only (almost) two years.

Why the Fed raised rates

The U.S. economy added just 155,000 jobs in November, falling short of analysts’ expectations. But the Fed maintained a fairly optimistic view of economic conditions in its statement, noting that “job gains have been strong, on average, in recent months.” GDP growth is solid and at 3.7 percent, the unemployment rate is still low by historical standards.

Though most workers haven’t gotten a raise in the past year, annual wage growth (3.1 percent) is higher than it’s been in nearly a decade. Even though the labor market is said by some experts to be approaching full employment, there are still plenty of positions left to fill.

“Employers are forced to compete more for workers and that’s what is driving the wage growth so much higher,” says Sean Snaith, director of the University of Central Florida’s Institute for Economic Competitiveness. “t’s not out of control wage growth, but it is the fastest that we’ve seen to date in this recovery and I think it’s really consistent with a tightening labor market.”

Inflation is near 2 percent and the Fed thinks it will remain below that target in 2019. But FOMC members didn’t hesitate to raise rates in an effort to continue normalizing interest rates and prevent prices from rising too fast in the future. In a press conference following the December meeting, Jerome Powell also noted that rates this year were raised more times than expected because the economy was stronger and healthier than expected.

Its essentially a quasi private/public banking cartel that runs everything.  They control a heck of a lot more than most realize, interest rates and issuance of debt the biggest.

The above are the reasons why the Fed raises rates.  Do they do more harm than good?  Should the Fed even exists?  That's a different story.

December Caps A Strong Year For Consumer Sentiment

Consumer sentiment gives insight into the state of the economy.

Consumer sentiment in the United States averaged its highest level since 2000 this year.

It was the second best annual average of the 21st century, the high being 107.6 in 2000.

For December, the sentiment index tallied 98.3, which beat economists’ expectations and surpassed November.

The Board of Governors of the Federal Reserve System is supposed to have seven members but like much of Trumptards government it's not fully appointed with 2 positions vacant

Of the 5 remaining members 4 were appointment by Trumptard, including the Chairman Jeremy Powell (he was originally appointed as a governor by Obama and Trump appointed him as Chairman in 2018 on the recommendation of Mnuchin)

So kind of hard to imagine Trump being pissed at them since he's responsible for the appointing almost all of them.

I have

Are you teeing that up as the excuse as to why Trump, yet again, appears to have hired people who think they are supposed to do their job without being influenced by Trumps daily, often contradictory, whims?

If he hired people who didn't understand that Trump wanted to micromanage their actions then whose fault is that.

Couldn't possibly be Trumps fault....right?

Would you like to review Trumps many tweets about the Fed and interest rates when Obama was POTUS?

I think the left really misses the fact that Trump's base realizes he is imperfect. As long as he does the job he was elected to do the base is like glue...and we're only a couple years in at this point and things have been shaken and stirred as prescribed by the voters.

Contrast the above with the fact that Obama had the emperor's new clothes in the eyes of the press and his base for two terms...and his mis-steps were never characterized as such.
