Apparently, there's a different tax code and a different stock market for liberals.

Liberals, on this board at least, complain about paying more taxes after tax cuts while others are paying less taxes, and complain about losing money in a booming stock market while others are seeing their retirement accounts grow.

Why does these comments seem familiar?  

1. I complained that my taxes were higher this year. Who's paying less taxes? You tell me.
    
     B. While the tax code may not be different for different people, the tax rate is different for people in different tax brackets.

2. I lost money on what I invested and proceeded to move my money back into a more secure account. It wasn't a complaint. It was a fact. Some people like gambling. I am not one of them. The stock market is for people looking for long term gains. At almost 75, what do you suppose my "term" is? It could be long, then again....

Regardless of the small decline in tax refunds in 2019, most taxpayers are enjoying a tax cut in the aftermath of the Tax Cuts and Jobs Act (TCJA) went fully into effect.

The non-profit Tax Foundation estimated that 80% of tax filers had a lower tax liability during this past year (the first full year for the TCJA cuts), and that only 5% of filers paid higher taxes.

(Bloomberg) -- Jobs are now growing at a faster rate in Trump country than they are in the Democratic-leaning urban and coastal areas that long had been a main driver of the U.S. economic expansion.

During the first 21 months of Donald Trump’s presidency, the 2,622 mostly rural and exurban counties he won in the 2016 election added jobs at twice the pace they did during the previous two years under the Obama administration and at a slightly higher rate than the 490 counties that supported Democrat Hillary Clinton.

Red America overtook Blue America last May in 12-month employment growth for the first time in seven years, according to a Brookings Institution analysis of county-level economic data for Bloomberg News.

Although Blue America still leads in pay and economic output, the uptick in Trump country is crucial to the president’s re-election chances in 2020.

- Nice comparison. It shows that the difference in the economy from 2008 to 2017 isn't as dramatic as Trump makes it out to be. Obama inherited an economy that was about as bad as it can get, while Trump took over a growing economy that was in pretty good shape. To his credit, the economy has continued its incline during the last two and a half years.

In what might be seen as a Memorial Day gift to President Trump, residents of a mountain range outside of El Paso today woke up to a new vista—a mile-long wall of metal slats constructed along the border with Mexico that just shot up over the weekend. The secret project, which started on Friday evening and was completed by Monday morning, was the work of We Build the Wall, a new group whose director is the former White House strategist Steve Bannon. The CEO is Air Force veteran Brian Kolfage, who had raised $20 million to build the wall through his GoFundMe project, but it appeared to be floundering until Bannon took the helm.

Bannon, who for much of the weekend was in Kazakhstan for a geopolitical seminar, says the project, overseen by construction mogul Tommy Fisher of North Dakota-based Fisher Industries, involved hundreds of workers and cost $6 million.

He says his group asked local authorities what is the most dangerous part of the border with Mexico, and they were pointed to this precarious mountain strip, “where the cartels and asylum seekers are coming in” through a gap between two 21-mile strips of completed wall. The group hastily “purchased the rights” to the land and went at it Friday evening. “We had to catch them by surprise,” says Bannon, who predicts residents are “gonna freak out” when they see what was erected over the past two days.
