Dr. Scott Connelly has reported that Billy Carpenter, aka Billy Carp here on Getbig.com, has passed away. I verified it today with Mindspin, who has worked with Billy a number of years while at Met-Rx, as well as Scott Connelly. Unfortunately, what we have heard is true...

It is with great torment that I report the death of Billy Carpenter on 29 Jan 2006. Cause of death is unknown. Billy was my colleague, my workout partner, and above all my best friend. His passing has left me temporarily incapacitated. I will announce updates on memorials etc. as I regain my composure and am properly informed. Billy enjoyed being part of your community and will be dearly missed by many.

William was a great mind in the field of supplementation and nutrition from his years working with Scott at Met-RX.
From dealing with him directly I can honestly say he was a stand-up guy and was always willing to help with questions.
I'm not sure what to think, other to say I'm sad to come to the realization that he won't be around thus further.
RIP. William.

I am shocked....Billy was a great guy who always gave me great nutritional advice...I had not heard from him since x-mas and was beginning to wonder about him...this is truly a sad day...r.i.p. Billy....you will be missed :'(

It was a privilege to have known Billy. He was part of a core group of individuals that was there when MET-Rx went from being an average company, to the leading sports nutrition company in the 90's. As director of the clinical sciences department, Billy worked very closely with Dr. Connelly. He was one of the most knowledgeable individuals I have ever known in the field of nutrition science.
Billy and I remained friends after we left MET-Rx. He was a genuinely nice person with a great sense of humor. We often talked about our hopes that Dr. Connelly would again bring a product to the market, so that we could work together once more. Ironically, that opportunity was becoming a reality before his life was cut short.
Billy, you will be missed...

Billy was a great guy and helped me when I had a lot of personal stuff going on. He was one of the most intelligent people I've ever had a chance to discuss sport's nutrition with, and had the best stories re: late 90's BB scene. I am still shocked and wish his family and GF my sincere prayers...

good call. I also remember reading about MassWithClass' battle with organ failure. He was 37 also.

Very sad to hear of Billy's passing. He and I talked in depth about the Karate Kid movies and their profound impact on our lives. We both remembered to never get "squish just like grape" and to always drive a car when escaping from the Kobra Kai dojo. Billy will be missed.

This is shocking news! Billy was a class act and very much part of the family here!
He was extremely intellent and very helpful with everyone here. I had several fun chats with him. He'll be missed.

it is with great great sadness that i learn of this..............
i would look forward to signing on to GET-BIG and BOOM7 and first thing i would look for was to see if BILLY was on yet(lol then we would spend our days ranking on each other while our girlfriends worked)
Billy was helping me with my diet (his pm's are taped all over my fridge)
he was very caring and a great guy

I am very surprised to hear this news as I have spoken to Billy several times on this board ....... he was very helpful when asked questions about Nutrtion and just about anything else ....... he will be missed greatly.

Was very helpful to me.....and everyone he spoke to. That dude knew what he was talking about. Great sense of humor. Great character......he loved helping people he didn't know. He's the kinda guy you couldn't help but to like.
Integrity.
GetBig lost one of it's best.

not that I know of... billy was 200 pounds as of mid january. He carried whey/water in a gallon with him 24/7. His bodyfat was below 10% in late Dec pics.
He had a Masters in nutrition and knew what the body could take and couldn't. I'm really waiting for this tox report to tell us why he passed on :-\

He wasn't posting or talking all that much before he passed.
I knew something was up when we didn't hear from him in weeks.
He wouldn't talk about it, but something was amiss.

I could be wrong, but I don't think Mindspin (Yemeni) had worked with William since the early Met-RX days. If there is any "biography" done of William it would probably be done by Scott Connelly, and perhaps his ex-girlfriend. Those are the people he was in contact for the most part right up until his passing.
Suffice to say, 37 is too young to die. People come in to their own at 37, they don't prepare for death. It always seems that death comes when you least expect it, just as he was preparing for "bigger and better things", new developments on the horizon. The suddenness of it all was probably what shocked us the most.
