I went to school with a kid that ran a 6 min flat mile in 6th grade!...broke the school record...
-
6-7 hours with a good wind assist.

But I could beat your ass in about 4.5 sec. Slow in endurance quick in power.

I used to run it in 6:15 in 1990 after football practice at 6-6 height.

Sometimes I philosophise that the body adapts to demands.
so if you ran 1 miel and did 300 pushups as fast as can daily thats almost unmeetable demands.
get huge n ripped
in theory anyhow

yea 7 aint bad for mid school...this kid that ran a 6 flat in 6th grade damn near sprinted the whole mile he was so small short dude, small even for his age...I havent heard of anyone else in our county younger than him run a mile in under 6 min...I'm sure the record still stands...
-
I ran 4 miles in 31.03 on 11/14/10 which is about 7.75 minutes per mile probably do it faster for one mile but never really tried.
-
I run 3 km in 13 minutes, is that good?
-
My best was 1.6 or so miles in 8:48 when I did cross country in middle school, 7th grade. Assuming an even pace, I think that comes out to like 5:45 or something.
I hated racing and usually got such bad nerves I would make myself sick. This time my mom promised to buy me a videogame if I beat the rest of my team. :D
-
that 1 mile is one true test of da fitness I think
-
My PR is 2 miles in 12:02
-
I remember running 1500 metres when I was a kid in 6 min 20 secs.
A mile is 1609 metres so comparatively speaking I could have probably done a mile in just under 7 minutes. Which is crap.
Nowadays I think I'd be lucky if I could do it in 10 mins!
-
You fellas that say that you couldn't run a mile in under 10 min are really short-changing yourselves. A 10 min mile is only running at 6 mph, I would say that most fellas here could probably run a mile in about 8 min, and I'm willing to bet that the more fit fellas could break 6 min in the mile.
-
With a television on my shoulder or without?

a 6 minute mile is no joke for someone carrying any amount of muscle...Look at any long distance runner...they look emaciated...

No. How about you? Still got those rocket shoes
-
id say about 12 minutes
-
Prob like 6:30 or so. Just got out of the Marines, my 3 mile time was around 21 min. For the CFT we had to do an 880m run in boots an utes, ran that in 2:45. 5'11" 185lbs, I'll be 29 next July.

Just because the only way you could ever go a mile round the track is if someone rolled you, theres no need to get jealous....

How long is a mile....

It takes keith 20 mins to wheeze his way to the front door which has had to be extended 12 feet either way cos he couldnt get his fat ass through it , he then has a forklift pick him up and drop him on the back of a super enforced pick up and then it's off to the drive through for a $ 100 (stolen money) breakfast , this is his idea of getting into shape , he has been doing this for the past 14 years.

-
i ran 1.9 miles in 17 minutes the other day, that's about, what 9:30 mile?
i could probably do one in 8:30 if i went all out.
-
What's all this running you guys are talking about?
-
run 1 mile
doing it in 6min means you are in good shape
5min is elite shape
this for someone with some muscle
skinny bastards not as much a problem

You gotta be joking man! A 5 min mile is elite-level for anyone, skinny guys included.
-
I best time is 35 minutes. ;D
-
6:45 in High School.
Last time I ran for distance I did 2 miles cross-country in 16 mins.
8)

Ever since I could remember a 6 minute mile was the time most teams were looking at as the time you should run a mile in. Anyone who could run anywhere near 5 minutes was elite. I was never into running even when I was skinny in high school. I was quick for 10 yards and that was it. I could run with the batter to first base in full catchers gear though. I even had a couple stolen bases just because I was quick and could read a pitcher. But long distance running was something I ranked last in.
-
Exactly, a 5 min mile is elite status.
-
ok with the extra metres i'd be looking at a 5min mile.... its not exactly mind boggling. For people that run athletically several times a week you would expect them to be at that level.
-
5min 24 back in High-school back in the Late 1980s witch was quiet quick back in the day for a Kid..........Fast forward 2010.....not sure but i am sure it would be @ least 2 minutes plus....on top of the old time :( :( :(

Having muscle and running is a whole other story as opposed to someone skinny not carrying any. Back in 8th grade i wasnt even in great shape and ran a 5:50 Mile at like 130lbs. This wasn't even top 5 in my class. Now im in much better shape and run 3 times a week and can't even break 6:30 at 5'8 205 due to the extra muscle on my frame. True way to mesh weightlifting and athletics is to get someone who can run a great mile time and benchpress/squat/deadlift a lot of weight. Best of both worlds.

So I guess my 5 min mile and 365 bench press would put me in the super elite category 8)

yea elite on the bullshit meter...
-
What kind of times can decathletes run the mile in? My guess is that very few of them can break 5 min, and remember, they are world-class athletes.

also keep in mind...the ones that can run a 5 min flat mile have no muscle to speak of...therefore someone claiming to run the mile in 5 flat while also claiming to throw around some serious weight is either A)one of the greatest athletes on earth or B)lying there ass off...
-

The actually don't run a mile in the decathlon, they do a 1500 m (so it's a little shorter). The best decathlon 1500 m is 3:58 (a mile at that pace would be 4:14). The 1500 m times at the latest Olympics ranged from 5:20 to 4:26. 5:20 would be a 5:41 mile which is pretty bad for a world-class athlete.
-
WOW! A 4:14 mile? That is DAMN IMPRESSIVE for a relatively muscled guy!

It would put you in the 'bullshit' or on a bicycle category.

So you didn't actually see Kendrick give Dawson the order to give Santiago a Code red?

Remember the last time I got called for bullshit..... My bench press and I posted a vid of my skinny twink ass pumping out a 365 like it was nothing.
Do I have to post a vid of me running round a track???
Bear in mind I was a semi pro rugby player for a couple of years.
