There are reasons of national security the US has not shot down the balloon yet and they are not telling us those reasons.

Do you really believe the US is so incompetent in this regard as to let a spy balloon float around for no good reason?

Undoubtedly they've been tracking this balloon for months.

Meanwhile, other parties are using the balloon to score political points.

Actually I am not. I am well aware that the US wants to deplete Russia by forcing them into an extended conflict. We broke every standard agreed to in the minsk agreement and Victoria Nuland orchestrated a coup to to take out their democratically elected leader so the USA could put in their puppet government and continue to needle Russia until they responded when NATO decided to float the idea of putting ballistic missiles on the Russian border.
