Title: SORRY GUYS.....OBAMA IS NOT GOING TO WIN
Post by: andreisdaman on October 26, 2012, 09:16:48 AM
Sorry guys...but it looks to me like Obama is not going to win...the race is really close and I believe the polling is in Romney's favor.....even in the states where Obama is leading  I don't think he will be able to pull it off...he's going to lose Florida.... and probably won't get Virginia and North Carolina to swing for him again....Ohio is a toss up but I never trust a poll in a close race where there is a black candidate running against a white candidate......often-times the black candidate's strength is over-reported....

Also the economy is getting better...the new numbers out indicate higher than usual growth...but it might be too late....many people have made up their minds and those who haven't will probably go for Romney once they get in the voting booth....

Obama's only hope is to take Ohio, Wisconsin, New Hampshire and hold on to Nevada and Colorado.....If he can do that, he could still win without Florida...also Obama can win if most of the early voters go democratic which they usually do...its been reported that there has been a record amount of early voting this year.....

Obama's first debate loss hurt him badly...he recovered in the last two debates and won both I think but the damage has been done.... I am voting for Obama.....Romney would be a disaster for the country

True statement, the question you should ask is who's interest best reflect my own?

True statement, the question you should ask is who's interest best reflect my own?

First, let me say there are a bunch of smart people, much smarter than I am, voting for either candidate. So let's eliminate the "You gotta be stupid to vote for ____" option

Then, let me say the following is my own method of coming to a decision. I am not a fan of either party. I like some things in both, I dislike many things in both. I am libertarian if I had to label myself. I operate on the premise that you get 4 yrs to do what you said you would do during the campaign. Most lie during the campaign and make promises they know they can't keep. I like to hold them accountable. Bush had 4 yrs, at the end of that I wanted him fired. I didn't like the job he was doing. So I rooted for the candidate. I lost.  4 yrs after the last election, I find that Obama didn't live up to many of his campaign promises and so I want him fired. He doesn't get 4 more years to accomplish what he said he would do in 4 yrs.

If Romney doesn't perform as well as I think he should have, then I will fire him.

2012 United States Presidential Election Betting Odds

On November 6th, 2012, the 57th presidential race will culminate with voters running to the polls to cast their vote for who will be the next president. To coincide with this presidential race, 2012 Presidential Betting Odds have been issued to give bettors or the politically minded the ability to place money on who they think will succeed in the running. Many of the online sportsbooks out there are currently holding odds on who is going to win this election, with some surprising and not so surprising names on the ticket. Some money can definitely be won from Political Betting Odds, though bettors will have to go into this election with enough knowledge of the process and candidates in order to win some money.

Update: Since the last time we checked in, Mitt Romney's odds to win the election have now returned to where they were entering last Monday's debate at +155. Romney made up the ground he lost Monday night/Tuesday morning even quicker than when dropped off following their second debate. This is encouraging news for anybody that might have taken Romney yesterday when his odds were +170. In comparison, Tuesday's odds for Romney will pay $.15 more on the dollar compared to where he sits currently... if he wins the electoral vote.

Conversely, with Obama's odds to win the election going down, his payouts are getting better however with the swings that have been occurring almost every day, he might get even closer to 2/3 odds or maybe even down closer to 1/1. It will be interesting to see whether Romney keeps carrying this momentum or whether the odds will start to stabilize. Keep checking back for updates or click anywhere on the screenshot below to go straight to the page where Bovada has the most current 2012 Presidential Election odds.

I am for Obama and yes there are somethings he did not do.....but the economy was in ther worst shape it had been in since the great depression....it was a very difficult job.....I think even Obama was surprised at the extent of the problem when he took office.....but he saved the banking industry and the auto industry as well....I just think people are tired of him and want to go in another direction

But Romney will permanently destroy this country if he enacts the tax cuts he's proposing...you dont cut more revenue when you can't pay your bills already.....thats like me being 6 months behind in rent, water, electric, car note, etc, and I say to myself "hey..I think I will work less hours"...it doesn't add up

The good news is, Romney lied. His tax plan won't get implemented because it is a bad plan and he never intended to do it, but he needed something to say that sounded good to republicans. So you can relax a little bit and take comfort in the fact he was just full of shi*

The economy is not showing numbers that are "stronger than usual".   A 2.0% growth in GDP is horrible...particularly three years post recession.  I agree that Obama is toast... he's toast largely because the economy has performed not only below his promised standards, but historic levels as well.

And a 2% print that was born from a massive burst of government spending.

Taking into  account all things considered, all things done, all things spent, all promises made....these numbers are pretty bad.

Obama had that when he ran against McCain. Now, he has but 32%, according to ABC. Romney has 66%. An AP poll has them even at 47% with women. If that holds, particularly in certain swing states, Romney wins it.

Obama's fuzzy Ohio early vote math
By: Adrian Gray
October 26, 2012 03:18 PM EDT

At this point in an election cycle, many campaign staffers are busy fighting the press on what they call “process stories.” The candidates and their staffs want to talk about their plans and policies while reporters covering them find their audiences demand a play-by-play of the horse race.

The result is constant overstuffing of campaign metrics and polling that only serve to muddy the waters for most political observers. In a close race, such as we have today, there is often plenty of data for both sides to use to their favor. One poll says this, another says that.

(See also: Latest polls from across U.S.)

This makes it especially surprising to see the piece put out by President Barack Obama’s field director this week on early voting in Ohio. When things are ugly for a campaign, these types of memos can start flying. It is troubling for the president’s supporters that they could not come up with at least a handful of positive data points in Ohio. I worked as director of strategy at the Republican National Committee during the difficult 2006 election cycle — I know firsthand how hard it it is to come up with positive data in a negative cycle.

There are normally three signs you know a campaign metrics memo is purely spin.

1. Anecdotes: “We have seen groups as big as 100 voters going to vote in Athens, Ohio.” Only 604 democrats have voted in person in the entire county and no more than 40 in a single precinct (that would be Athens 3-5, for those scoring at home).

(Also on POLITICO: Romney's road to victory in Ohio)

2. Unverifiable Data: “Precincts that Obama won in 2008 are voting early at a higher rate”: This is unverifiable and misleading because there is no such thing as an “Obama precinct.” Every ten years, the entire country rebalances its voting districts based on a constitutionally mandated census. In 2010, this process redrew the lines of reportable voting areas that were used in 2008. So this year, we have entirely new precincts, thereby making it impossible to validate their claim.

3. Cherry-picking random sub-poll data: “Time poll shows the President up 60-30” among early voters. That sub-sample was asked of 145 people and was one of many of similar ilk (with a huge variation in results). Their central data argument is that 43 more people told Time’s pollster over a two-day window they supported Obama. If that is their best claim to a lead in Ohio, it is a troubling picture for the president.

(See also: POLITICO's swing-state map)

I have always been a believer in data telling me the full story. Truth is, nobody knows what will happen on Election Day. But here is what we do know: 220,000 fewer Democrats have voted early in Ohio compared with 2008. And 30,000 more Republicans have cast their ballots compared with four years ago. That is a 250,000-vote net increase for a state Obama won by 260,000 votes in 2008.

I'm talking about the system, but about the many millions of business interactions that go on daily.  Millions of businesses simply will not hire or expand until obama is gone.  That alone will unleash a capital expansion and confidence by many to expand and take chances that will beneficially impact many people.  Is it based on anything realistic or substanative?  Maybr maybe not - but its reality.

Obama is deposed from office and millions of businesses will take more chances and expand and spend more $$$$

Not pussying out at all....I am painted on here as a far left liberal, and I wear the liberal label proudly but I am not far left....I try to be as honest as possible....I just don't think Obama will be able to pull it off due only to the economy....people still feel the country needs a change...I don't agree but I have a feeling Obama will not carry the white vote this year in the numbers that he did...that will be his downfall....also will blacks and young adults come out for him in record numbers like they did???...no

I hope to God Obama wins....I think he has done so much for the country that he isn't given credit for....He even survived the conservatives trying to de-legitimize him...but its my feeling that the numbers showing high support for him are not accurate....I think many people who say they are going to vote for him ultimately will not....just my theory

Actually from some reports, yes....I think Google did a study which says that Obama should have won with a much higher percentage than he did based on data that they had....and it is a part of political theory that black candidates often poll higher against a white candidate than their strength actually is....its not racist to bring up this theory...its not something that I made up

You won't find me defending Bush. I think he is one of the worst Presidents ever. In fact, in 2008 I thought Obama made a lot of sense in his speeches. He spoke about the perils of government being too big, greedy Wall Street, the need to bring troops home and the need to stop spending so much money on the military industrial complex etc. etc.

And then he made a 180 degree turn and failed to deliver on any of these campaign promises. From 2008 till now I begun to understand the game is rigged as George Carlin put it.

LOL - so his total lack of any leadership whatsoever played no role on this?

sigh.....you can't lead people who do not want to follow...no matter how hard you try...and the Republicans said they were not going to follow Obama essentially.....Mitch McConnell had openly proclaimed that his objective was to make sure Obama is not re-elected....how can you work with someone who proclaims this one year into your presidency

A part of good leadership is getting folks to work together to come to consensus and to resolve issues. Barbara Roberts, former Oregon Governor was well liked but many felt fairly ineffective because she often wasn't very successful at getting the Oregon legislature to work together on the issues.

It is your opinion that President Obama has exhibited a total lack of leadership. Opinions don't count as fact.

Personally (and this is just my opinion), I believe your statement is inaccurate, overstated and oversimplified.

Recently, when House Majority Whip Rep. Kevin McCarthy was asked if this Congress was the actual "worst in history" -- as Washington Post columnist Ezra Klein had claimed -- his response was that he would agree the Senate is the worst in history, but not his part the House of Representatives.

Last year, Congress had its most futile year in history, passing only 80 bills (since records have been kept since 1947). This year, there have been 54 bills passed so far and 17 of those have been to rename either post offices or other places.

Ok and?   The GOP is going to retain the house by most measures.   What does that forbode when Obama said he is powerless to change washington from within?

Why elect a guy who already says he is incapable?

Why do you believe a change of President will make a difference in this stalemate with Congress?

I was merely pointing out what you failed to, which is there is more to getting Congress to enact laws then it might seem. To put all the blame on the President is ridiculous.

There is a chance for a change w someone new, not so if obama stays in office since he is promising more of the same nonnsense that we have gotten for the last 4 years.

I am an idealist. I generally favor change as a positive thing. However, Romney may not be so much of a change as a return to previously failed policies that got this country and the world into the financial crisis in the first place. Oh right, he says this isn't so.

Speaking of working with Congress, there are many who believe Romney will actually have more of a problem with this than Obama has had. It would seem each candidate for the Presidency has some strengths and some weaknesses. I particularly find the part where people feel Romney leads in the "has new ideas" area....as if a new idea is always a good idea. Sometimes new ideas are crap!

Truth or fiction?

False. There is nothing to suggest they were "friends" or that it was a fundraiser. There were only a dozen folks there. That's not much of a fundraiser, now is it?

I'll give you credit that there are grains of truth here when it comes to times and dates. Beyond that, what you suggest is pure fabrication.

Quote
During the 2008 U.S. presidential campaign, a controversy arose regarding Barack Obama's contact with Bill Ayers, a Distinguished Professor at the University of Illinois at Chicago, and a former leader of the Weather Underground, a radical left organization in the 1970s. Investigations by The New York Times, CNN, and other news organizations concluded that Obama did not have a close relationship with Ayers. Ayers served on two nonprofit boards with Obama. Ayers and his wife, Bernardine Dohrn, hosted a gathering at their home in 1995, where Alice Palmer introduced Obama as her chosen successor in the Illinois State Senate.

The matter was initially raised by Sean Hannity and other hosts on conservative talk radio programs, and then by moderator George Stephanopoulos during a debate between Clinton and Obama in April 2008. In October 2008, the matter was mentioned in attack ads, robocalls, mass mailings, and campaign speeches by Republican presidential candidate John McCain and vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin as an issue in the general election campaign. Obama has condemned Ayers' past, and stated that he does not have a close association with him.

Obama and Ayers first met in 1995 when Ayers and Dohrn hosted a small gathering at their home in the Hyde Park section of Chicago, the neighborhood in which the Obamas lived, at which then-state Senator Alice J. Palmer introduced Barack Obama to the group as her chosen successor for the 1996 Democratic primary.Dr. Quentin Young, a longtime physician who also attended, said it was a small group—maybe a dozen or so people—who were being introduced to the next senator from Chicago's South Side. The formal announcement and endorsement by Palmer was held at the Ramada hotel.

Are you referring to this situation?

Yes, you are right in that politics often is an ugly business.

Quote
On September 19, 1995 Barack Obama formally announced his candidacy for the state Senate, with Palmer introducing and endorsing Obama as her successor, according to multiple accounts. According to The New Yorker, Palmer's endorsement "brought with it two organizational assets: local operators and local activists".

On November 28, 1995, after finishing a distant third behind Jesse Jackson, Jr. in the primary to replace Reynolds, a disappointed Palmer remarked that she still would not seek re-election to the state Senate. However, Palmer changed her mind and filed nominating petitions with 1,580 signatures on December 18, 1995—the last day for filing. That day Obama told the Chicago Tribune, "I am disappointed that she's decided to go back on her word to me".

In early January 1996, Obama challenged Palmer's hastily gathered petitions and those of the three other prospective Democratic candidates. Nearly two-thirds of the signatures on Palmer's petitions were found to be invalid, leaving her almost 200 signatures short of the required 757 signatures of registered voters residing in the Illinois Senate district.

None of the other three prospective candidates had the required number of valid signatures. As a result Obama, who had filed nominating petitions with over 3,000 signatures on the first filing day, appeared alone on the ballot for the March 16 Democratic primary. For all intents and purposes, this assured him of election in this heavily Democratic district. He easily defeated the Republican and Harold Washington Party candidates in the November general election. In a 2007 interview with the Chicago Tribune, Obama said that the challenges were justified by obvious flaws in the signature sheets.
